An Argentian here! I'm not of black descent, but I love this video and how this man goes to places that no one goes to when they come here! One thing to mention! That's Buenos Aires, people there are different than those who live in the other "states" of the country, I'm from Santa Fe, a little city in Santa Fe, and I feel like racism here is less, because here we have more people that have Latin American Natives descent. And it's a lot more accepted, we don't even think about this, and yeah, sometimes you have one or another case, but it's a lot weirder than in Buenos Aires. Excellent video by the way! I love it!

The unveiling of our Afro-Argentinian brothers and sisters is mind-blowing. I am so thankful that you have highlighted them this way. I had no idea that their country has made a concerted and effective campaign to make them completely invisible from the world. I often say, there is NO place that WE are not! When Argentina was separating from Spain they FORCED every single African/African-descendant(women and children included) to fight as frontline soldiers to be cannon-fodder, Argentina wanted to reduce their black population and make it more euro, they also knew Spain was too poor/weak to resist a rebellion so they fought for their independence for a few years and once they got it, they imposed strict immigration laws on people coming from Africa and increased immigration from europe, and all this led to the black population decreasing from 35% down to less then 5%, Truly heartbreaking genocide our people go through all around the world, and its not taught to us, its all hidden so it is forgotten. Ps: María Remedios was an African slave women forced to fight in the war of independence for Argentina, She fought for all 4 years of the war, lost her husband her son, led many men into battle and won, she lost everything for a country that didnt want her, and when the war was over, she was given nothing and died in poverty, youll never see her in a history book,Argentina just gave her a national day a few years ago, and i think everyone should know her and what she did.

It was the policy of whitening society, many Latin American countries fostered it in the previous two centuries with greater or lesser success, promoting the immigration of Europeans, with the premise that they were the only ones capable of creating civilization in the territories to be populated. and whitewash the local population as much as possible. The United States, Australia, for example, had similar policies, in promoting the immigration of Europeans, with a somewhat similar approach.

As an African person dating a Mexican woman, I can say that this is not just an Argentinian problem. It's a Latin American problem. White aspiration is a part of Latin American culture. You needn't look too hard to see that. Just take a look at their film and marketing industries. Even in Brazil, which boasts one of the largest black populations, people aspire for whiteness.

From my observation, most Latinos embrace African cultural influences but hate blackness. Whilst English-speaking diasporas like USA and Jamaicans identify more with their blackness than Africanity, or rather identify with Ancient Egypt or Ethiopia than Yoruba or Mandinka. Whilst in Africa, the more privileged and educated classes look down on Africanity and strive towards Westernisation. Most Africans don't even think about race, or realise that we are viewed as 'nxggers' by those we strive to emulate whether Arabs or Europeans. There needs to be a huge cultural and psychological revolution amongst all Afro populations.

I knew about the story of black Argentinians but seeing actual people talking about it confirms that Argentina has an identity problem. I am ok with them recognizing their European heritage but it is shameful and embarassing for a country to deny the heritage of its citizens because they're native Americans or afro. This is blatant discrimination and that has to change.

The way the described the destruction of the the African identity hit so close to home. In fortunate to live in a mostly black country, so I don't have to deal with racism in my everyday life. I, however, observe it online everyday and I just want to tell every African ( all brown-skinned people... Cause we are not black like THEY strategically named us) all over the world that you are loved, you're important, you're the heart and soul of the world. You bring love and excitement and energy to this world. Creativity in thought, action, whether in science, architecture, dance, music, athletics whatever it is. Your contributions are seen and those that have not yet been accredited will continue to be unveiled with time. Honor the sacrifices that your family before you has made. Racism is still very much visible here today...the current Conservative government has a policy for asylum seekers that says people coming from Ukraine can come here & are welcomed they even went as far as to tell people to let Ukraine asylum seekers come & stay in YOUR house but asylum seekers from Rwanda will be deported. There is an Indian politician who publicly said "it was her dream to see a front page of a newspaper with flights deporting people to Rwanda" So basically they said white Ukrainian is welcome but Black Rwandan are not.
