The 'joy' of Government backed courses

Trying to level up a bit by getting on some actual government back course, you sign up, run through some details, if your circumstances allow it, your course is fully funded so you can get a 'qualification' (or a bit of knowledge) for free.
So far, it has taken over 3 weeks for something they say will take no more than 3 days.
They cannot find a funding provider (yet I found my own and got the funding processed in less than a day)
still today, they claim the funding cannot be found.
Some days it just feels that no matter what you do, there is always something playing harder against you

Tbh it is just nice to know I'm not the only one who is struggling with the feeling of being let down by society. It's so bloody tough feeling like you are at the bottom and every time you try to pull yourself up everything just pushes back. The feeling of isolation I get sometimes is unreal but it is good to know that the whole world hasn't collectively decided to screw me over personally and that many of us are in the same boat.

Same. I (34) still live at home, never had friends or a girlfriend, never had a serious career, only worked minimum wage, dont own a car or have savings, in fact I only have debt. Alcohol problems. When my parents die, I probably become homeless.

Adam, you are clearly a very intelligent person. Imagine the poor souls, not so blessed, struggling to access such programs. Charitable agencies & their staff & volunteers do so much to assist but they're just as overwhelmed as the government agencies. It truly is such a frustrating & complex issue, where sadly, politicking & financing play much more important roles than human welfare, support & progress. Keeping you & everyone here in my thoughts for good things & progress.

Think your doing the right things. Once everything finally goes through and you get on a course, youl be able take the strength of all the ballache it took to get on it and use that to make sure you take what you can from the course. Your definitely right that you have to do everything yourself. Think thats the best encouragement you can take from these kind of situations that when it comes to it you can rely on yourself to get stuff done.

I would lower your expectations of the British government dramatically. You can only rely on yourself.

I've seen people get into work from some government courses, not online ones. It's the lack of a plan that a lot of people struggle with, also it's pretty demotivating when these things don't work out.

You also described my life and so many others here in the comment section with what you said in the end. It is like our brain tells us: "No way in hell you are gonna get a sun ray in today." And it is like there is nothing we can do, it is all automatic..and it is all on repeat.. like prisoners in some mad camps..

Snowballing. I concur with that sentiment Adam. You do one or two things positive, and your mind looks for positive connections in everything else if possible. You see a few things in a negative light, and it appears as though the whole world is pitting against you. That point should be underlined - we have a tendency to see things so much worse or so much better than they actually are. A degree of balance is the order of the day.

Maybe another way to look at your current predicament is that you are putting too much on the fact that you were able to seek the funding yourself. Perhaps you shocked yourself by your level of motivation and just expected everything else to fall into place. The sad truth is that life just doesn't work that way. There are peaks, which are quickly followed by troughs. We must take the rough with the smooth and believe that things will work out as long as we keep working positively in a chosen direction. Good luck!

I wouldn’t stress out too much about this. The nature of government is bureaucracy, I assume anything involving government will take some time 😅. You have to keep pushing and reaching out so you are on the top of their priority list. That’s just the nature of the beast. I just had to follow-up with customer service at my job (not govt.) on something I contacted them about a month ago. Stuff happens; you will always be more proactive about your life than others.

Just general management in anything in the UK is a mess. Living in Japan for 2 years now and it's crazy how to focused the Japanese all and don't beat around the bush. Everything gets done super quick is is checked like crazy (which can be annoying for foreigners applying for things lol)

I hope they will sort it out for you soon. It is frustrating when you finally find a good thing, something that you want to go ahead with and then you meet these unnecessary obstacles. It mostly happens when you really want and care about something. I don't know what is the universe's law, but maybe try to let go a little for a while, give yourself space... it should then move forward. We have a saying in my country "It will be given to those who don't give a f*ck" 😉

To be brutally honest, is yet another course going to change anything? It seems like another delaying tactic to pin your hopes on which will probably lead to nothing. If you think your current job isn’t going to pan out then look for something, anything, else. One of my most enjoyable jobs was as a part time cleaner, the sense of freedom and lack of stress compared to my office job astonished me and I used that as a stepping stone to healing my mental health.

Understandable look on it. So the course is funded it would give a level 2 qualification but also the understanding of the subject. I looked at this as a way to get a feel of something which I hoped to complete by February, with the intent of then going onto a degree through the open University. Feelong like it is being delayed obviously slows the rest of the process down, which if you have watched some of my other stuff you will know that the time thing is something inam really having problems with. But I understand where you are coming from for sure

If you think this is right for you then go for it. I’m just saying stuff that people might not want to hear as I’ve been where you are. If you were 25 then I’d not bring it up but judging by your earlier videos, you’ve done lots of studying and courses in the past and they’ve left you feeling inadequate as you didn’t have actual experience in the workplace. Doing a degree now will mean you’ll be pushing 40 if/when you finish it which is something to consider. I guess it all depends on what the course is and if you’re confident it’ll help find a career at the end.

I dont know where you live, but without a degree it is hard to find a job, that pays you more than minimum wage. So, I dont blame him for cosidering that. And regaring his age, if it should be a problem, I dont blame him, I blame the job market. If you cant obtain a degree at 30, 40 or even 50, the job market has failed - not the individual. The job market should work for people of different ages and in different life situations. @@captaincluster316

its not just you, my man, the whole western civilization is on the decline. the people that are supposed to help you just dont know what they are doing. they are unqualified for their jobs, they are unprofessional, and thats happening everywhere. im from the czech republic (ok, the eastern end of the west) and our current minister of finances is not educated in ecomonics. he studied electronic computers in the 80s, and the dept of our country is sky rocketing ever since he became the minister, we are having protests, etc.. but simply put, unqualified people took over the world. from top to bottom, and the order is breaking apart.

Yes you're right that opening your mind and cosmopolitan living is beneficial but I have to agree with Joejo4549. Demand is artificially manipulated in the UK to maximise profit. Demand for jobs and houses. Unless you are guaranteed a well-paid job in the capital, how are you going to pay the astronomical bills ? London is the most expensive place in the country if not the world and there are on average 20 applicants for every rental property. It's insane. I guess he could work in a cafe and share a house with 20 others, and there could be some value in that, but mental health has to be delicately managed for some people. Answers on a postcard please

I like how you just white wash the mental battle by suggesting moving into a big city, like the added stress of living in a place that has even wider financial margins would be a positive. the cost of education, cost of living, travel expenses everything increases and the wage of the jobs I would be able to get would still be minimum wage. 🤔
