Whatsapp is used very often in America and around the world to call people by phone or video free internationally. It isn't spam. What you don't know can be easily found by just searching online for answers. Don't just listen to people talk things they don't know.

The landlord didn't complicate anything. I believe landlords have the right to increase a tenant's rent when necessary. I heard the landlord say the narrative the tenant gave in court wasn't completely true. I think he decided not to debate on it because the primary goal was to eject her from the property. When the landlord demanded for her to pay her 6 months outstanding rent, he demanded for 75k which is half of the annual rent. (she tried to blackmail the landlord in court to get sympathy from the judge). A landlord gives you notice in between your rent, indicates that you have not been a good tenant.

When the tenant moved in, the rent was 150k, during the first year of tenancy, the landlord gave notice that the next rent will be 200k, the tenant pleaded that the landlord maintains the rent of 150k for the second year which he agreed to, and further served a notice to the tenant that he will effect the increment on next rent (take note, which will be her 3rd year of tenancy). If you understood the video we all saw, you will notice the rent was not increased twice in a year as you mentioned. In the third year of the tenancy when the increment would have taken effect, the tenant decided not to pay. Reasons best known to the tenant. It could be that the tenant fabricated part of her narrative just to make the landlord look bad in the eyes of everyone; (I heard the landlord say her story wasn't completely true). The landlord also said her outstanding rent of 6 months was 75k which is half of the annual rent. I think the landlord claimed he needed to renovate the apartment just to evict the tenant because the tenant wasn't cooperative. This is business, and everything the landlord did was within his rights As for the law you mentioned, I don't think you know or understand the law. Kudos to the judge because she knows better. truth is they are yearly tenants. if its not rent controlled the landlord can increase the rent. rent in Lagos can be like that since the available houses are not enough to meet the demand. the woman also doesn't want to leave Lagos to Ogun because she knows the opportunity she has living Lagos.
