Were these shields also used in Mamluk Egypt?

Highly likely. But construction could have changed regionally or been imported with other steppe Nomadic people

The word Kalkan is a selfname for real Caucasians - Galgai people who are now known as Ingushians. A.k.a. Kalkans, Kalka, Halha, Galga, Ghalghai. We are true alanians. The river Kalka in modern Ukraine and Russia is named under our name. The river Galga in Hungary also named by our self name. The Ingushians are very ancient people. We are known as people of towers like ancient Chaldeans. Our family Towers like Castles in high Caucasian mountains is a way how we survived Turk-Mongol invasion. Ancient Troy was Ingushian. Etruscans were Ingushian as well, they spoke our language. It is us who taught the Mongols and Turks to use shield. That is how the Turks started to use word Kalkan.

Shields were used in every culture around the World. Also, Turks already had had a long history of warfare with Chinese and Mongols and later Persians and Arabs before they even reached the Caucasus. It is highly unlikely to achieve so many victories over so many powerful nations without a shield.

Bro got carried away. Kalkan is a Turkish word, which means "raised/shield" and few peoples can teach Turks how to fight as all Turks are natural born nomadic fighters. No recruitment is ever needed. If you had a Yurt, then you had to fight. Also, to marry a woman you had to shoot an arrow farther than her. So yes, even women could shoot arrows while horseback riding. An average household would have around 50 horses and innumerable sheep. Caucasia and Northern Black Sea, stretching deep into Romania and Hungary were natural grazing lands for Turkic tribes.

Sameway the Russians use word "Zhelezo" for Iron. Famous russian scientist Starostin compared russian word "Zelezo" with Ingushian self name "Gheleghe" (a.k.a. Ghalghai, Kalkans). It is us who taught the Greeks and others how to work with Iron, that is why they started to call Iron by our name. Starostin proved that Ingushian language was spoken in wide area from Caucasus to China. You can easily find a lot of articles about Starostin's Sino‑Caucasian theories online. By the way, for ancient Ingushian people shield was not just a war tech. It was part of religion. All nations who are relative to Ingushians like Troy, Etruscans, Irish etc. shared more or less similar system of values. All of them considered self-defense as much more important than attacking. P.S. Please do not waste my time. Before you say something perform a research. Looks like you do not know history at all.

@@Lomaro-Targimho-Galga Dude, you must have your highschool degree from McDonalds toilet. No hate against Ingush People, but they are just some minor tribe in Caucasus, who are russified.
