The price of honor. The power of friendship. THE KARATE KID, Part II. Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita re-create the roles that brought them international acclaim in The Karate Kid. Karate student, Daniel Larusso (Macchio), accompanies his wise and whimsical teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita), to his ancestral home in Okinawa. For the boy, it's a journey to an exotic new world offering new clues to his mentor's secret past. For Miyagi, it's an opportunity to see his father one last time and tore kindle a romance with his childhood sweetheart (Nobu McCarthy). But Miyagi's return also re-ignites a bitter feud with long-time enemy, Sato (Danny Kamekona) - a feud that involves young Daniel in a brilliant collision of cultures and combat. Now, far away from the tournaments, the cheering crowds and the safety of home, Daniel will face his greatest challenge ever when teacher becomes student and the price of honor is life itself.

True! And watching this trailer again with that quote, adding it to some things from Cobra Kai Season 1 and 2, i can imagine we gonna see this again in the final Season. Most fans think Johnnys son Robby will win the Sekai Tournament, but since he was to this day Daniel's only male 1-1 student, i wouldnt be surprised if he ends like Daniel here in 1985 against Chozen. This is what missing in the CK show since it started, a no rule life and death duel among the teenys. And if it should happen, my money is Robby will be involved in it. And the writers saved the drum. The real drum technique with these devastating palm strikes wasnt seen in the CK show yet...i would be surprised if it doesnt show up in Season 6.

It’s still pretty cheesy. You can tell it’s choreographed and at no point do I feel like either of the characters are trying to hit each other, much less hurt each other. @@PercivalFromWales Now that Chozen is Daniel's friend and the new Mr. Miyagi, I can only hope he doesn't move back to Okinawa feeling there's nothing left for him there now that his uncle Sato has passed away. If he moves to California, Daniel could offer him a car on a discount with Daniel being the owner of his business and maybe he could help Chozen start his own business as a karate teacher. The same for Kumiko that now that her aunt Yukie has passed away, I can only hope she moves to California and Daniel does the same for as he does for Chozen except he can help her start her business as a dance teacher since she loves being a dancer. (This scene here makes me happy that Daniel didn't kill Chozen and it was lucky he saw Mr. Miyagi refuse to kill John Kreese which gave Daniel the same idea).

@@williamshelton4318 It's good in some ways that Daniel saw Mr. Miyagi refuse to murder John Kreese by honking his nose for him to pass out which is why he got that idea to honk Chozen's nose not to murder him (being unknown if Daniel was strong enough like Chozen to murder Chozen himself). Regarding Daniel being sent to prison in Okinawa, that would still be unknown because there were over 100 witnesses (including Mr. Miyagi) around that castle area who saw that Chozen made that choice to make Daniel get rid of the bridge to start a death match against Daniel where after Daniel said "now I dropped the bridge let her go" where Chozen said "now we fight to the death" where Daniel had no choice but to defend himself and he if had to murder Chozen, that would have been his only defense where if a police officer came and said "Daniel Larusso, you're under arrest for murder", the crowd would have stepped in and said that it wasn't his fault, he was only defending himself from Chozen who was going to murder him.

The lack of music almost during the entire fighting sequence made to feel it more brutal than already is. In retrospective, you could say that Chozen is the most dangerous of all the opponents Daniel had to face by a big gap, not only because of his fighting skills but because he was determined to finish Daniel. You can tell that the writers of Cobra Kai love him and that they wanted to redeem the character. I dont know about it honestly, i mean i really like Chozen in Cobra Kai but, for me, it is hard to conciliate the character from the movie with the character from the series. He seemed like a psycho. The fact that he wanted to kill Daniel for real and also that he held a knife to kumiko´s throath is hard to overlook. What Jhonny and Mike Barnes did was child play in comparisson.

I like that each handled it differently too. Johnny was bitter, felt like he was the one wronged, and needed seasons-worth of character development to put it aside and move forward. @@aradhyasakpal8083 It's true that you can see Chozen baiting Daniel into the kick so that Daniel kicks a bit too early, with Chozen feinting going in for a punch at 5:15. But I also think that Daniel got into the Crane Technique knowing that Chozen would likely know how to defend against it, but Daniel's plan was probably for the move after, hoping that Chozen's defense in reacting to the Crane Kick would possibly leave Chozen more exposed so that Daniel can deliver a counter blow as he does at 5:18.

I agree originally but when Cobra Kai is around I can appreciate it. Cobra Kai really cements how important it was for Daniel to fight for himself, others, and be balanced. It makes it more reasonable that Mike Barnes was able to unhinge Daniel and beat him in every encounter because Daniel was isolated from his mentors and fighting off with aggression. It also shows how badly Silver got into his head that makes him stronger in Cobra Kai. The fact he was able to tear apart the Miyagi and Daniel friendship despite KK2 really shows how good his plan was.

My canon is that the order of the movies is 1-3-2. There's no way Daniel would be terrorized by Barnes after facing off a crazy martial arts master to death and risking his life to save his japanese crush.

In Season 6 of Cobra Kai, we need someone to become the image of Mr. Miyagi. Someone who can be a great teacher of balance between life and karate to the Future Students of Miyagi Do Karate as well as teach them honor in the lives they lead and right now Chozen fits the bill.

What these 3 celebrities, Tamlyn Tomita, Traci Toguchi and Yuji Okumoto who reprised their Karate Kid 2 roles in Cobra Kai all have in common is that they're Japanese-Americans but the difference between them is their generations. Tamlyn Tomita who plays Kumiko is issei--first generation. She's from Okinawa, Japan, Traci Toguchi who plays Yuna was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA and is nisei--second generation and Yuji Okumoto who plays Chozen was born in Los Angeles, California, USA and is sansei--third generation.

I love the detail of Mr. Miyagi’s statement to Daniel before he crosses the bridge. “Daniel-San. This not tournament. This for real.” It’s Mr. Miyagi’s way of confirming that Daniel knows what he’s getting into before he crosses. Not because he doesn’t want Daniel to save Kumiko, but because he genuinely wants Daniel to be aware of all the potential consequences. Truly a thoughtful, caring man.😁

A extraordinary teacher taught his student a honorable path. And thanks to his teacher, Daniel became wiser, calmer & stronger in every way imaginable. Daniel is the reflection,of his master. They walk on the same path with a humanitarian trait. You can’t learn if you don’t understand, the philosophy of whatever, you’re trying to accomplish. Daniel’s teacher taught him martial arts, gave him knowledge & most importantly gave him strength of character.
