So, who would most likely be responsible for Leviticus 25:44-46, a Lord of Love, or a demonic Satan? (Read on...)

By their fruits shall ye know them: and think of how many thousands, or millions of lives have been utterly ruined by the fact that that passage exists in a piece of scripture that a whole bunch of people think has something to do with morality.
Slavery is just about the easiest human rights issue imaginable, and the bible gets it wrong. What an embarrassment. In fact, practically any human being who has ever been born and survived to the age of 8 or so could come up with a better and more ethical set of instructions on how to behave and run a society than the bible. It would not have ownership of PEOPLE as part of its core tenets.
Why did humanity have to wait thousands of years for the Emancipation Declaration? Couldn't Yahweh have delivered it himself? Couldn't Jesus? Peter? Paul? Nup - no one gave a shit about that sort of thing. Not when there were people keeping their foreskins, water to be walked on, and women speaking in churches!!
Script and music and performance and drawings etc (everything) by ME!!
If you haven't seen The King's Speech (Best picture Oscar winner, 2011), then you won't get this.
Sorry to the non-native English speakers or those who'd like to translate it - sometimes the ideas that come to me just don't lend themselves to subtitling or even voice-over.

That's just the thing: they don't read it. They have isolated verses read to them on Sunday morning (no need for context there, naturally). They are spoonfed isolated verses in pre-printed bible study booklets on Wednesday night which give simplistic answers to leading questions so they will reach the conclusion the bible study leader wants them to reach. They buy crocheted and framed wall hangings with life-affirming verses on them. What extremely few Christians ever do is just sit down and read the Bible straight through, whole chapters at a time, with an eye to gaining even the most basic understanding of what all of it says. So if they haven't read it or had it read to them, it will never challenge their beliefs.

They do, often. By saying things like: "You're taking the bible out of context." "Slavery at the time the Bible was written was not like the slavery of black people in America. They were more like servants and their owners HAD to treat them well." "God undeestood that his people would change over the centuries. At the time, slavery was appropriate because they didn't have the sMe knowledge that we do today. God is wise." These are the more common ones I've heard from Christian apologists. This isn't about logic or reasonable discourse. They fear death. Being wrong would mean they have to accept that they don't actually know for sure they will live forever. Maybe at least some of them feel that way.

Yea, considering the fact that many people consider the serpent who tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden was telling the truth about what the apples would do to them, whereas the YHWH lied about it and later admitted it, and considering he led them to intelligence whereas YHWH wanted to keep humans as dumb beasts, I'd say this is not what happened. Satan doesn't need to help YHWH to look like an asshole. He's doing just fine by himself.

I always wondered if the devil was actually the hero of the story, promoting free will and an education. Unfortunately God started slandering him after that... 🤔 If free will is impossible without allowing evil, and evil is defined as whatever God doesn't like... it reasonably follows that God doesn't like free will.

The only People who consider this are Militant Atheists who suffer Reading Comprehension. For one Thing, it is not said to be an Apple. For another, it was not "The Tree Of Knowledge", and they were not Dumb Beasts before partaking of it. It was The Tree Of The its result was Shame and Guilt, not"Intelligence".Which isn'teven the same as"Knowwledge"anyway. As for God Lying, no, he didn't. The silly they didn't Die routine is idiotic given that They did eventually Die, and Evangelicals view them as Immortal prior to this and a Day need not be 1000 Years. There is also the Fact that Judicial Penalties can be Commuted. Which is the more Traditional View. You see, the Death Penalty was not something that just Automatically happened. Rather, it has to be applied. Just because God decided not to Kill them doesn;'t mean He Lied. But these aren't Things I expect people here to grasp.

@@skwills1629 Sure, make it a fig, but the tree is still called the Tree of Knowledge. Meanwhile, the Christian god itself mentions in Genesis 3 as it faces the two humans that now they “must not be allowed to reach out... and take also from the Tree of Life and eat, and live forever.” (Genesis 3:22), so yes, the deity did lie, as it is essentially saying Adam and Eve would have lived forever if they ate from the Tree of Life, regardless of eating from the Tree of Knowledge, so the warning that they would surely die from eating from the Tree of Knowledge would be fallacious both by the sheer time it took for the two humans to die (for the thousand years a day apologetics, I would wonder why your deity had such a human conception of time while supposedly making the universe and commanded the humans to allocate one day and not a thousand years for the sabbath; it becomes even more ridiculous to imagine your deity needing a rest after spending its equivalent of like 1.42 seconds of its time making the whole universe; I sure wonder how it even communicated with humans with such a different conception of time so that the prophets listening to it would not straight up turn to ash from old age) and by the fact that even if we assume the fig or whatever caused them mortality, (which is not even certain because the deity only mentions what the snake mentioned, that humanity “has now become like one of [us (the Christian deity)], knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:22), as the direct consequence of eating the fruit), they could have counteracted the mortality from eating from the Tree of Life, so technically the most important cause of mortality would be them being banned from eating from that tree. In any other context, if you ingest a substance from a bottle labeled “you will surely die if you drink this” as an 8-year-old kid and then you die like a hundred years later calmly in your sleep because the teacher forbade you from eating the green pill that supposedly will not make you die due to the contents of the bottle, just how seriously would you take the warning on that bottle? All the negative consequences besides knowledge that happened for Adam and Eve are conducted by the Abrahamic deity. One does not have to be a militant atheist to conclude that the piece of apologetics you presented that is more serpentine than the actual snake talking is fallacious as hell.

The apologetics used to rationalize slavery in the Bible are practically a circus act. In the other video on slavery by NSC, the comment section is filled to the brim with some really incredible attempts to dismiss forced labor slavery as being anything advocated by the Bible God. Even when confronted with the passage as found in Deut 20, where God commands that nations be made forced labor slaves (not simply indentured servants), the apologetic is that this particular law was only temporary and therefore magically doesn't count. They'll deny Deut 20 to the death. This is what happens when one weds themselves to a "holy book". All evidence must be made to conform to the preferred conclusion, which in this case, is the believer's conclusion that God did not condone forced labor lifetime slavery.

Actually, Atheists who attack The Bible are more wedded to their own "Holy Book", mainly Videos or Websites like these. Historians, including Non-Christian Historians, would Tell You Slavery was not the same Institution in Antiquity as it was in the Antebellum South, and those same Historians would say Biblical Laws about Slavery are in fact better than those of other Lands of the Time and that Slavery was often Humane. Dismissing this as Mental Gymnastics or mere excuses is Rather evidence that You are far more concerned with Mocking Christians than with Facts. Especially since You make no effort to grasp this "Holy Book" is actually several Books, Christians do not typically see it as a Rule Book, and Christians Historicallyt Opposed Slavery, and were the First to do so. Yeah, the law was pretty nuanced. That passage also includes a statement that if an owner causes the loss of an eye and/or tooth, then he must let the slave go free. So it's a challenge: if the slave is nimble, he has to try to align the blow so as to lose only a tooth/eye, and then stay alive. The master has to try to NOT hit the slave in the eye/tooth, and if he beats him unconscious, he must try to keep him alive for a day or so to avoid murder charge. Sounds pretty compassionate to me!

"Oh but the bible teaches against slavery too!" I agree, but which passages do you think the slavers were looking at for the last 2,000 years? Modern Christianity has proven how easily people can ignore passages that disagree with them. "The devil can site scripture for his purposes", and that's the scripture's fault as much as it is the devil's.

That’s the entire point - look at some of the other comments and you’ll see what I mean. The fact is that originally, Yahweh was the one who wrote and said this, without any such influence by Satan. This video is parodying that by making Satan almost equal in power to God, so that it almost makes sense than the actual book, in a weird twisted way. Satan, being the avatar of evil, is shown in these videos regularly outsmarting and gaining the edge over an all-powerful god of creation who is all-knowing and benevolent, turning his own kind actions into evils that plague the world. Compared to the original Bible though, it actually makes more sense despite the fact that Satan is on par with God, since it explains why God in the Old Testament and the Bible is frequently depicted as such a megalomaniacal sociopath who has killed people by the millions for not simply believing in him. By making Satan a kind of being that is the same power level as God, if not an even more powerful being than Yahweh himself, it gives more reason to hate Satan and to respect God because in the end he’s not entirely at fault because he’s either at worst incompetent or at best trying to stave off Satans influence. However, in order to believe that Yahweh is truly an all-powerful god of creation with none to rival him in power, you have to acknowledge the fact that God has committed atrocities of a high account, leaving no one to blame but Yahweh himself for his actions. This all in all leaves Christians to accept that either that God isn’t truly all-powerful or all-knowing, or that God isn’t truly as benevolent and compassionate as said Christians usually depict him. That being said though, what Christians believe is not at all influenced or waived by me. I personally believe that most Atheists or Deists though created by Christianity, and for good reason too.

That's true. Bottom line, until they give a rigorous definition of the word "kind", they will always be able to weasel out of an argument. I once tried (with minor success) defining it for them in a way they would not like, and then asking them to refute it by defining it for themselves. I defined a kind as identical lifeforms, like 2 bacteria after one splits. therefore my parents did not bring forth after their own kind, because I am different from both of them, thus a new kind.

Even for a parable it is a callous thing to say. "The suffering doesn't matter only that you do your job and only after you die will you be rewarded." In all history slavery has been the fate of those who lose wars. Even the bible states so Deuteronomy 21:10-14, Deuteronomy 20:14, the only apparent laws protecting slaves are stated Deuteronomy 23:15-16, Exodus 21:26-27, Exodus 21:20-21. It is somewhat correct that when for example a lion wins over a weaker rival and kills his cubs and copulate with his lionesses, one could apply 'moral' principles and accuse the culprit of 'rape and 'murder', that lion would then present its defense as 'it is for the greater good of future generations of lions, I have better genes, I am a better hunter and better adapted to my environment than he was', no reasons to think that such scenario could not be common for our far remote ancestors.

Subjective is based on the individual. Relative is based on a distance or difference from others. Like, absolute zero -- that would be absolute, and zero Fahrenheit would be relative. It's cold in here would be subjective. There can be overlap, in that if it's absolute zero, or near it, then it could be considered "cold in here". But the subjective and relative can always be considered potential members of the same set, and might be members of the absolute set, when the sets are non-null.
