@@tizben I went with a vortex pst gen2 for the better glass and mil reticle. Also center dot is way better for 1x

@@MrNpc81 I shot in a lower light 3 gun match and the sig just couldn’t hang. Need larger objective and better light collection. We were asked to engage 400yd targets in the dark with only glow sticks hanging on them. It was pitch black with the sig. I tried another guys razor and made hits easily. It made me realize that cheap stuff isn’t just as good. But it’s solid for the money

@CiviTac thanks man. I started with an ACSS 1-6, now have a Strike Eagle 1-8 and I'm considering the swap to a Razor. Appreciate the info!

I am not sure if they did. But I did most of my testing with a 13.9" shooting reman and Tula so the BDC wasn't going to line up anyways.

​@@FocusTripp Ok man, I've watched this video multiple times now, please tell me I'm not crazy. Your optic is slightly rotated to the left on its axis in the mount maybe it's some kind of camera lens thing. But I really think it is.

I bought the Brownells 1-6 Donut on a lark and I actually really enjoy it. The reticle can be a bit limiting depending on what your use case is, but everything about it (besides weight) is much nicer than I was expecting for something that was $250 on sale.

@@harambe3647I bought mine “used” on eBay from some random pawnshop in the Midwest. It did not have the original box or some of the smaller stuff that it normally comes with but that’s fine because it was effectively brand new

It depends on your philosophy of use. If you’re considering optics for rifles and carbines shooting out to 600 yards, then LPVOs are the way to go. But if you’re going for something like a lightweight SBR with a 10.5“ bbl and staying within 400 yards, then a red dot/magnifier combo makes more sense than a scope, be it an LPVO or otherwise. Plus, LPVOs aren’t as easily usable with nods, a serious consideration and concern for many shooters today, which is why you see so many NVG users using a piggyback red dot set up on the LPVO.

MPVO + MRDS is a cool combo. Not as much redundancy.

@@hoganletts7572 oh I own LPVOs Acogs and off set red dot with fixed power and 5-25x range .. But the whole point of a LPVO is to have a 1x option with as close to red dot like illumination built in .. with the top end zoom being usually the compromise as far as quality. So why add the weight of an offset RD to a LPVO setup ??? If your doing that you should have just put a 4-16 or fixed high magnification scope .. you would benefit way more having better quality glass at higher magnification not having a scope that has a 1x power bottom end. Haha the old you don’t train Reddit commando gear head mindset is retarded. My 2 main carbines are setup to work with Acogs and a LPVO leopold . The acog has a piggy back rmr and that is mainly there for passive nv but my LPVO has an amazing 1x bottom end so why would I run an offset red dot??? Hey to each there own but in my experience if your LPVO has you thinking you need a red dot you didn’t get a good enough LPVO …

have 2 is better than one. The RDS is simply a backup or emergency option.

@@FocusTripp if you and your rifle take a tumble to where a scope doesn’t work with a basically etched crosshair and you need a back up no a offset red dot hanging off the gun on a 45 like that is going to be in better shape. Maybe back up irons or some solids offsets would be good. But again I think people over think the need for a back up sighting system have seen many contractors run a eotech on a AK with there life on the line actually working with there rifles. If you buy good quality optic and mount your primary system will be fine. Of course if your going to be dropping it on a steel plate from chest level right onto the optic haha then your going to possible need more than one back up system .

Why not more magnification if that is the use case? just curious.

You can't beat the value in those scopes that's for sure. Good budget option I think.

18oz is pretty light for an LPVO

The problem with lower cost 1-8 is sometimes the 8x magnification is not useable while the less expensive 1-6x option has a useable 6x magnification.

Even the Strike Eagle 1-6 is much better than the Sig. Much better reticle.

I do like the Strike Eagles if you can get them for a good price.

I used them side by side and glass quality subjectively seemed similar to me.

Dropped mine on my fully loaded wolf a1 upper+aero lower several times, held zero without a hitch, gifted mine to my dad alongside a psa mid length ar. Even the mediocre glass helps people with blurry vision.

It works on my Nova, I move it, it turns on. Set it down for more than 2-3 min and it turns off.

@@ballerrdj I put it on mine and set it on a stable surface that I could look over at and see the BRIGHT dot. I then got to watch the battery 🪫 die and the center dot dim over the course of the next 3-4 hours. Took it off and said to hell with it.

Well turns out I actually left my nova on since my last range day 2 days ago. Just tried it three times. Turned off each time around 1:30-2 min. Needed a good amount of movement to turn back on as well. So I don’t feel as stupid that I accidentally left it on the past few days lol. It works for mine

It is pretty bad. I just use it like a giant German #4 with added donut. Ignore the drops because they're useless.

How do you like the 1-10x? I have heard mixed things.

@@FocusTripp I think it's excellent at 200 yards. At magnification levels 9 and 10, the chromatic aberration is very noticeably but not a deal breaker. I prefer the 1x10 over the 1x6. It's perfect for me since the max I hunt and target practice is at 200 yards or less. Is like you said, not the best but good for the price and features. The included mount is also a nice touch.

Probably the Nova by just a little bit. Both are cheap LPVOs but will get the job done.

I am sure I will look at one eventually.

The Reticles in the Gen 4s are better, but I like the FOV, Weight, and Throw lever on the Sig. Favorite Mass Effect is ME1. ME3 has the best gameplay and ME2 has the best Character work.

Yeah idk man for my eyes the reticle got more fuzzy out to 10x more than this one..Maybe it’s just me? I enjoy shooting both nonetheless but if I had to pick one I’d go sig. Love your content!

Why would you put iron sights on a gun that has a red dot? Same reason, to have a backup or emergency optical solution. I get this comment a lot.

@@f5tornadeau a good set of irons is 2oz and $100+ a SIG Romeo 5 is $100. They are exactly comparable

@@FocusTripp BUIS are the smallest, lightest, simplest, most reliable way to have a backup aiming system in the extremely rare instance they may be required. That’s why they’re used. As simple, small, and reliable as red dots are, they don’t compare. If it’s just a range toy, it’s whatever. Put a 4-50 scope on it and offset red dots with magnifiers on each side and 4 flashlights. It makes no difference. For a fighting rifle, though, it really does make a difference.
