On the 4th of June, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express - the world-famous luxury express train operated by Belmond Ltd. once again came to Békéscsaba on its yearly Paris-Istanbul journey. The train didn't come at the usual date - the last weekend of August - but it spent 2 days in Hungary between 3 and 4 June, and the passengers went on a guided tour of Budapest during this stay. From Békéscsaba, the train will reach its destination, Istanbul Sirkeci station through Romania and Bulgaria.
Between Budapest-Nyugati station and Curtici, Romania, the train was led by a Bombardier TRAXX loco: 480 009, decorated in the special "Kajla - the adventurer dog" livery.
The train will visit Hungary next time on the 12th of June on its return trip to Paris.
