This weekend, lets take the Kalashnikov-USA KS-12T shotgun out to the range and try it out with several ammo types, including low brass value pack loads. Then talk about its features and compare it with the original Russian Saiga 12 from Izhmash (today Kalashnikov Concern).

Get the autogas regulator plug and it will solve undergassed cycling problems and reduce the negative effects of overgassed shells. No more switching between high and low. Also, the hold open is the little notch on the safety lever. 😎

Hey mishaco, the safety lever on the KUSA has a bolt hold open notch on it to hold the charging handle. Once ran a little it should start cycling 2.75" 1200 fps @ 1 1/8 oz loads without issue (cheap Wal-Mart ammo). And check the owners manual also, if shooting slugs it will gum up the gas block fast

@@misha5670 Agreed with misha. But if it is the full length barrel model and doesn't cycle 1280 fps @1 oz or 1200 fps @1 1/8 oz hit them up. They will take care of you. Also keep in mind keeping that weapon dug firm into your shoulder with a firm foundation. Limp shooting induces FTE.

Wonder if you ever figured out what the notch on the safety lever on the KUSA is meant for? Locks the bolt open just as well as the crappy bolt hold open on the S-12. Also try the TAC-47 gas plug for true ammo capability for S-12 pattern shotguns. BTW own a Krebs S-12 and a self converted S-12 and both proudly wear the TAC-47 plugs for the ability to fire most any 12 gauge ammo. Try it, you will like it.

Thanks for the videos Misha. I have the same gun minus the folding stock (KS-12T) and just got a UTG Combat D Grip in that flips down into a bipod for it. Thought I'd throw this out there for anyone considering it. With a ProMag 15 round drum and the bipod deployed with the gun resting on the bipod and stock, the drum clears the ground just enough to slide my fingers under it. So it fits and deploys well. Probably wouldn't work so well with a 20 round drum unless you get a dedicated bipod that was taller. But with a 15 round drum, it's a sick setup for cheap that gives you a foregrip and bipod in one and works with the drums. For those wondering on drums. The 10 and 12 round are the same physical size with ProMag, the 15 round seems to fit the gun the best, mine snapped right in securely straight out of the box, and the 20 round would make it cumbersome. I am happy with the 15's also because they aren't clear plastic. Also, the company I got mine from is now listing the D-grip as discontinued. That may mean get one while you still can. They are still around between $40 and $50 bucks as of now. Worth it for what you get.

"...because a select fire 12ga shotgun is rather useless, especially with an eight round capacity..." And yet if you had armed all the police and military with full auto only Saiga 12's, and they stormed the Moscow theatre with them; probably still far fewer casualties than factually resulted from the rescue... Great vid, still have my Saiga 12 I converted myself as a teenager back when that and zombie apocalypse stuff were fads. Mine actually runs light, cheap low brass rather well. Not sure if that's due to more, or less, vodka the day it was made.

Thankfully the only real “secret” to cycling low brass is knocking the gas block off and unshrouding the ports. My four port gun was a single and two half ports lol. Honestly though quick fix and not too terribly technical. Also assuming you’re using Russian factory mags. Also forgot the most import part-thank you guys for another awesome video!

Yep, factory mags really help with both the Saiga and VEPR 12 shotguns. I'd say the only 'meh' part of the KS12 was the US made mag it came with.

@@1888CHAD8881 sorry I just saw your question. I found one video a long time ago I can’t seem to locate now. Long story short there is a single small pin on the gas block you knock out, I then used a brass punch to tap the block off the barrel. Once off you’ll see a single large hole that the gas from the barrel ports blows through. I had to open mine up a little more towards the barrel end with a dremel and hand file. I hope this isn’t too confusing it’s really simple once you attempt it.

I was thinking about picking up one of AK variant styled shotguns, an had checked out the Kalashnikov USA K12. But it just felt extremely cheap with all the plastic furniture, pretty sure even the outside of the barrel was plastic lined. An allot of guns and rifles have poly parts and furniture, so that wasn't necessarily the issue in itself. It's just certain plastic feels cheaper and/or more sturdy then others, an the new one I checked out at the shop had like some plastic part of it seemingly "falling off" already. The grip felt terrible, I know it's all shit that can easily be swapped. But for around 1,000$'s I just wasn't feeling it at all. Happier with a classic pump action, Mossberg 590. Throw on the Hogue pistol grip, hands down.

kinda a bummer you guys had so many failure's to ejects and stuff with your ks-12. i have put about 700 rounds through mine of cheap 20$ walmart federal and winchester bulk pack ammo and dont think i have had it jam on me once. all i did was spray some lube in the action and turn the gas setting to low. i was going to polish the internals to make it more reliable like i did with my saigas to get them to fire reliably 100% of the time but i found i did not need too. it worked great straight out of the box, unlike the saiga 12s i had to convert and remove the gas block and re do the gas ports and all kinds of stuff to make them a decent reliable gun. it will probably become more reliable over time as you break in the action and it smooths and polishes itself out naturally.

Im very interested in KUSA , RWC , i know they are "not apart or or associated with" Kalashnikov concern but from what ive researched, Seems like they probly got all the data/know how and materials to make exact clones of the RU guns, I mean i could be wrong, but seems like that to me! k concern , was going to import through KUSA then the ban came and KUSA said NYET RIFLES will be made HERE! Haha , Much love and respect man love your channel and what you do! Invaluable info as well as always entertaining! This upcoming year, depending on election results i suppose i plan on grabbing a KUSA shotgun as well as the KR103, Looks and seems promising as well as , Gives time to see how theyr doing by the time i can afford some! Im going to be getting my FFL this year and im going to be a gun dealer! I also live in AR , But , you inspired and gave me the Idea , To finally go for it !
