Connor has sourced some nice Barberry (Berberis) plants for the Kitchener Waterloo Bonsai Society's workshop.
Please note, Barberry is an invasive species in North America. Here is a video on this....

Looks like great stock at that nursery Connor was bragging about! I dig how involved he was getting with the other members, sketching designs and all. That’s pretty cool. And always nice to see BlueJay smiling in front of the camera again.

Another awesome video! Really great to see so many possibilities with the same variety of tree. Wish I had a bonsai group near me to go and learn with. Thank you so much for all the great content and inspiration.

Great KW workshop and gathering of bonsai enthusiasts. Loved the barberry; beautiful! Chris Henry’s selection of bonsai goodies was very tempting! Thanks. 🌿🌿🌿💫

Amazing nursery stock. So mature already! Interesting that it is an invasive species in North America. In my area (Germany) you can see Barberry regularly as hedge plants but fortunately I have never seen them in the wild here.

It would be so fun to visit the nurseries you have in your area. I don't think we have a ton of bonsai nurseries here in Minnesota.

WOW!!! Those Barberry are absolutely AMAZING! Connor is doing amazing! He started fairly shy and unsure. You can really see he is much more confident now. Can hear in his voice that he is more comfortable in front of crowds. So good at what he does there. Nigel... Where is your tree?! I love the fun banter among friends! Thank you so much for this!

I imagine if someon enters the room while everyone is brushing their trees with toothbrushes they'd be quite confused... :) Anyways, that looks like a good species for bonsai!

As usual, another great bonsai gathering. Wonderful tree material. I am so envious of both the material and the bonsai goodies. NOT available in Boise. Only on line. Sigh. And the club is filled with kind, funny people who are like minded. Thanks for filming all this, it is quite the vicarious experience. Its good to see Jay and to get sort of reacquainted with the faces of the KW club. Thanks!!!!

Boy, I wish my club was half as fun and well attended as the KW club. No pots. No soil. No youth! And sadly, no Nigel!

Hey Nigel, I really enjoy when you video your workshops. I have watched the one on potentilla several times, and I think my second go at one of those trees is going well. I cut too much off the first tree. I belong to the MN Bonsai Society.

I sure wish I had a club like that here, closest one of any size is 4hrs away..... Suppose I could start one myself...I wonder what that would take to accomplish properly...? Guess I'm learning about club beginnings today, thanks Nigel! What a great group of folks, and some great nursery stock!! Wow.❤

There is a club in my city but they don't do their media very well so you can't see times of meetings contact details or anything like that. Part of me thinks I should offer my services (I'm an IT professional) because they really need a basic little website.

@@Stettafire yeah I can imagine the logistics can get pretty involved, without the actual membership there's no one to take tasks, the best clubs happen naturally with a group of people that were just hanging out sharing knowledge. I suppose we're all in BZ bonsai society 😂

Suburb material, what is the long term planting plan for these. I lost two I purchased last fall and potted in the spring. I don't want to relive that again. I 'll plan a visit to this nursery after the fall TBS show.

Nigel, thanks for sharing. Is there a website or contact for the club vendor who was selling pots and soil? I’m in GTA, and could use some supplies.

Hi are you able to say where bluejay bonsai got his root rake that is similar to your one from as I have been looking for one a few year now and do you know if I would be able to order one online from that place? Thank you very much I appreciate it a lot.

Lol Some may still think of it as a weird cult!!! I predict next April first, you'll be spraying your trees with "mouthwash".😋

I have a Barberry in my garden and, my god, it is the spikiest monster I know of. Beautiful red leaves and nice berries, but full of hard and very sharp spikes. I remember what a painful job it was to transplant it to its present place. Will not move it any time soon.👿
