A friend of mine has a 70 chevelle with a 502 with 1200hp and did 8 seconds in 1/4 mile. No supercharger no turbo. Just nitro and blue gas.

@@kingvega666 And boosted largeblocks can readily make so much power that they destroy the car they're in. Back when S10s were more readily available, people would shove blown 454s in them, generating >2000hp, and twist the truck hard enough to blow out the glass within the first few passes. After a few more passes, the truck was sometimes damaged beyond drivability. Turbodiesels get even crazier. Give it a good 150-200psi of boost, and your 1200lb engine can just launch itself out of the truck right as it's about to pass 3000hp and 4500ft-lbs.

It will fit. It’s only one inch taller than a standard big block Chevy. It’s a tight fit, but you can make it fit pretty easy. There are plenty big block G bodies out there, and an S10 frame is the same at the front crossmember. 4 door S10 Blazer brakes are a nice, bolt on upgrade for a G-body. Front suspension is the same, the trucks just came with slightly better brakes.

@@notinterested8397 Skip White Racing engines is one. RayMac is another. I know the owners of both. If you want to go boosted, I recommend going with a 540. It’s not tall deck so it’s a little cheaper and likes to rev higher. I also recommend calling the shops and seeing what they will work with you on. Sometimes they have used oddball stuff that they will let go of cheaper. Do a search on racing engines in your area and see what’s around. Call the shops and see what they can do for you.

It's not cheap getting reliable pump gas engines into the 1000 hp range. Easy enough when running race gas but this engine boasts these numbers on 93. It is always cheaper to build though.

The Cadillac heads don’t flow well, they won’t make big power. Caddie engines are great truck engines though, lots of low end torque with the right cam. People have been stroking 454’s to 496ci since the 70’s though, and everyone called them 500’s back in the day.

Yea, factory crate engines are a scam. You are better off buying for half the price from a good engine builder. Better parts, more power and cheaper, plus small builders stand behind their products better. No. You should contact a local engine builder and spend 10-15,000 less and get better performance. Factory crate engines are a scam and most people don’t fall for it. If you don’t want to use a local builder, Skip White Racing builds them, and they ship fast.

The Seven outboards actually run a GM crate engine, plus their transmission, and all the other parts, so it makes sense. The new 675hp Mercury outboard has a V12 that won’t see the production numbers that GM sees, so their costs are higher. Costs would be lower if they sold as many of their outboards as GM sells cars.

YES, it's a big displacement engine with serious horse power, but the truth is it's BIG displacement of 632 cubic inches is a bit small compared to what was TRULY the largest car engine EVER offered by an American auto maker is akin to comparing an average sized 7th grade boy to the senior quarterback on a football team. The 1st place blue ribbon award for being the largest engine EVER offered by an American auto manufacturer goes back over 100 years. That hefty honor goes to Pierce Arrow with their inline 6 cylinder of 1913 until I believe about 1916 and was the only engine available in certain models of their cars ranging from their huge Touring cars to the smaller yet still huge Runabout. The 1913-16 Pierce Arrow had an INSANELY HUGE 824.7 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder behemoth. NO THATS NOT A TYPO.. it was 824.7 CUBIC INCHES of bewilderment. It produced a mind blowing horsepower rating that ranged from 60 horsepower up to 66 horsepower. It may not be a high output engine even compared to the power output of much smaller engines built the following decade, but this is about THE LARGEST ENGINE not the most powerful one.

I would love to see someone build a reliable 1000hp *pump gas* engine for only 13k. That kind of money usually only buys you a 600-700hp 540.

@@d-phoenix2198 could probably do that with an LS and a good power adder. And it would be a LOT less than $38k. And a 600 or 700 hp 540 will easily get my junk running where I would want it. Been high nines with 500 crank horsepower. The answer is.......Light!

@@notinterested8397 Oh yeah absolutely, case in point I bet a person like Shafiroff could build you a 1050hp 632 with the electronics and even an aluminium block for less than what GM is asking. It would probably come out at about 28-30k. Now you got like 8k to spend on transmission to handle all of that lol. And yeah I would say 700hp is upper limit of what a normal guy on the street would take. + I bet you are familiar with the old saying of the president of Lotus, right? Something about adding lightness or something...

@@d-phoenix2198 Funny you mention Lotus. My car is a Cortina Consul GT. (NOT the Lotus version!). It's about 500 lbs heavier than a stock one, but has 10 times as much power. 406 chevy in place of the 50 hp 1100cc stocker.

Those engines won’t fit in a car, will they? And, those aren’t the biggest engines built either. FYI, the 12v92 was offered in a lot more than just fire trucks. Semi trucks and heavy equipment as well as boats have used them for decades. I have one as a backup generator for my shop.

Demon 170 doesn't run on 93 octane. This is a greater feat in itself than the 170.

@@lb9gta307 ok but that reduces to the hp to 900 hp running on 93 octane and the 170 also utilizes a supercharger. The ZZ632 engine is naturally aspirated making 1,000 hp on 93 octane. Add a supercharger to it and the Demon 170 isn't even close to being in its league. Chevy wins here.

@@mandolsxThe Ameri-barra is better. The GM Vortec 4200 is becoming a popular swap and they make some power if built right. And they are cheaper than the shipping cost for a Barra. It’s the inline 6 out of a Trailblazer, and you can get them from junkyards for a few hundred bucks. Put an 06 and later head on the earlier block, add a turbo and go run 8 second quarter mile passes. I’m putting one in a 240z right now, should be a beast when it’s done.

The Chevy would be well over 1000 on E85. Ethanol has a higher octane rating, allowing more ignition advance. The alcohol also cools the intake charge, making it more oxygen dense.

Those are German carburetor use the the 1950’s on mostly General Motors …. Most fuel efficient carbs ever built …. Probably illegal 2023 for working too good 😅
