So almost four years after The Last of Us 2 and its ending we got some confirmation that The Last of Us Part 3 is coming from Naughty Dog as Neil Druckmann creator of The Last of Us confirmed in the Grounded II Documentary that there’s one more chapter to the story of The Last of Us which will be The Last of Us Part 3! "The Last of Us 3" will likely have the return of Abby and Ellie. The Last of Us 2 ending clearly to me sets up The Last of Us Part III the sequel. Could we see a NEW Playable Character in a new Last of Us Game? Recently Neil in an interview hinted The Last of Us Franchise end is on the way and Part 3 could be the end! Neil said, “I promise you, we will not be ‘The Last of Us’ studio forever.” Numerous games, he said, are in the works, including “multiple single-player projects.”Remember The Last of Us 2 director Neil Druckman has talked about its potential and that there is a plot written for The Last of Us 3. He doesn't yet have a story planned out for a sequel, but he does "have a concept" for another game that will be its own thing, but will also "act like a through-line for all three". What could this mean for the story of The Last of Us Part III from PlayStation and Sony let's discuss! 1500 Likes?

I feel like there is still more to Ellie's story. By the end of Part Two I didn't really feel satisfied with how it ended and made me wonder where and what Ellie would do next. This game has some major spin off potential.

I think The Last Of Us Part 3 should close Ellie's story on a good note and give her the good ending that she deserves. I also would like The Last Of Us Part 3 to wrap up Abby's story too.

Maybe, have them become partners to fight other factions?? I can see that happening. GameDevelopers read our comments, can we have Ellie and Abby together ND?? Then at the end, have them hug, say goodbye, and Abby goes her separate way, and then running into Tommy, and the ending scene is Tommy and Abby looking off into the land, and seeing another faction that needs to be fought, and the game ends that way, showing what and who the next series will be about and feature. Just put Ellie in it somehow, someway

There shouldn't be a part 3 coz Ellie has settled down with a family or atleast trying to after giving up the revenge against Abby so there's nothing left

@@hsd287 We were actually never confirmed that she has completely settled down. She left the family for revenge, came back, and Dina and JJ were gone. The house was abandoned, though they most likely went to Jackson, Ellie just came back to an empty home. Plus there is also Abby and Lev, we don’t know much of what happened to them. The game could continue off of 4 potential people, Abby, Ellie, Lev, and who knows maybe even JJ when he’s grown. Or we could get a whole different character that still somehow ties to the main story like how Abby was added.

I’m probably in the minority but an plot idea I’ve ruminated about for TLOU III is having Jackson attacked by a mysterious group. They burn down some of the buildings and take hostages like JJ, Dina or even Tommy. Maybe all three. Ellie finds a clue from one of the fallen enemies bearing the firefly logo (but it’s modified). So she travels to where they might be: scouring hideouts, outposts, bases. At some point, we jump to Abby or Lev with the new firefly group, fighting back against a FEDRA remnant. But much of the group has changed into a more effective guerrilla force that’s trying to actively help people and smaller communities. Somehow Abby and Ellie cross paths again (maybe Lev is taken too, or a key figure in FEDRA is at a location they’re searching for) and it’s discovered the NeoFireflies aren’t the ones who attacked Jackson, but a new group that framed them. From that point, they reluctantly work together to deal with this hidden group and decide by the end to form a bridge between their factions as neither can undo the past between them. All they can do is move forward. I know, it’s not a perfect idea but I think it could be a compelling plot.

If TLOU3 will happen I have two theories/headcanons that I would like to see. First is Ellie not staying at Jackson, maybe she will go back to confront Dina and Maria and then set off into alone trip with no actual destination. Maybe she will travel back the same way Joel and her were travelling in TLOU1 to finally deal with her trauma by remembering their precious moments together. And find someone close on the way. The second idea would be to see JJ as a main character when he grows up. The journey of finding Ellie or maybe some other issue in Jackson could occur that will make him travel

It would be so cool if Ellie’s immunity took another level. The Cordyceps kinda upgrades over many years, ex: runners turning into stalkers and stalkers to clickers etc. Considering that the Cordyceps in Ellie is wrapped around her brain and is still living its easy to make the assumption it’s still growing. What if Ellie got cool Spore abilities or something? Like what bloaters or shamblers have? And Im sure there are other cool power ideas too

I see a few ideas but my current Part 3 favorite theory is somehow Abby and/or Lev somehow help Ellie locate a new surgeon who can operate on her. 💭My runner-up is Abby, Lev and Ellie find out that they have no Fireflies left and Jackson was ambushed killing all/most of them they know, leaving no one left to them but themselves. They rebuild in Jackson or somewhere else, maybe Seattle stadium south base.

TLOU is just to popular of a series. This series is one of the all time greats in this industry. Gameinformer Magazine did a bracket of greatest games of all time and The Last of Us Part 1 finished in the Final 2, with Ocarina of Time. OOT finished as the No.1 game of all time, but this shows how beloved this series is. Think about it, this series really doesn't do anything differently as far as gameplay goes, ND just bought on two characters that will live on forever for all of us. Ellie is our little darling, we were there to see her grow up, we all grew older with her ourselves, I grew four years older from when I got into the Series. Even if there is another plot/spinoff, there always has to be Ellie in the new series somehow, someway. She will live in our hearts because we all felt like we were on the journey with Joel in taking care of this girl. We all love her. I am in my 50s, and I love her and Joel. I feel like she is my young friend that I will always watch over. I don't ever want a series without her involved in it, and as long as she is in each game, that game will sell well. How about this ND? One thing that you never explained in this series is Ellie's background, where are her parents? Her family? Does she have brother and sisters? Relatives? Can we have a spinoff of her looking for her family, either alone or with Tommy?? I prefer her alone on her search for blood relatives and that game would be a No.1 Seller. We know nothing about any of these characters, can we get a spinoff/ or even a DLC, of Ellie looking for her family, and fighting another faction in her search for her blood, for her history?

Naughty Dog needs to make a good full-length prequel game with Joel and Tommy during the 20 years of pandemic and what all they had to go through (surviving and being hunters) and also what drove them apart and how Joel met Tess and Bill, and Tommy met Marlene and such. I think that would be a great story and a great game to see how the world is changing throughout the game and story.

As an "Old school" gamer, (Intelevision, Atari, Nintendo, SEGA, PS1 PS2, XBox and now PS4) to me, these 2 games were just mind bending !The game play, the story, the emotion, the excitement, the anger, the brutality, the humanity, just wow... I've never been through this much in a game before, and even my wife likes when I play, she helps out as an extra set of eyes, and helps on ideas to get past things, and says it's like watching a movie. She just doesn't like when I yell F*CK when I die, scares the Hell out of her LOL

Definitely a cash cow on their hands if they do TLOU3 and spin-offs. The best character is the self-contained atmosphere and that can translate to games in the universe but outside the Ellie, Joel, Abby paradigm. I would love to see if they can explore an open world game set in that universe. Many other ideas, but among them is another game set in Seattle, before or after TLOU2.

What I had hoped for for a part 3 is a prequel, like in the 20 years after Sarah's death, what Tommy and Joel got up to. How Joel met Tess and Marlene, and became the man he is in part 1. Also was not a fan of the story in part 2, so a prequel could give us more play time with Joel.

TLOU 3 is definitely coming, but I don’t expect it to be until at least like 2028. Also, I fully expect it to be the last game in the series. They might do spin-offs but who knows.

Obviously TLOU3 needs to conclude with Ellie's story, but honestly I adore the idea of the story of Joel and Tommy of how they survived prior to part 1and I think it would be great to see the story unfold from Tommy's pov.

After playing part2, I have absolutely no idea what the story could even be about. no one seems to be looking for a cure anymore. Maybe they could tell a story with Abby & Lev but what would it be about? They should just leave it at part2

It'll probably be about someone looking for Ellie, like Lev, because and for the fireflies. Finds Tommy, flashback to after the outbreak, and played through Tommy's pov. Find ellie, and finish the game playing as her. Bam. Everybody's happy yet still complains.

I still think the game is far away. Part 3 should definitely be the ending coz they can close all the parts of the story with a trilogy. Same way that I feel like Red Dead Redemption is not gonna see a third game coz I think part 1 and 2 for that told the full story of the Van Der Linde gang unless Rockstar decides to go back in time again. But yeah only thing on the horizon is the new IP and a PC port. PC port coming first then probably new IP in 2026. We would've had something new if they followed through on Factions but because that didn't follow through they had to plug the gap with another remaster

Something I like to think about is in The Last of Us Joel goes through hell getting Ellie across the country slaughtering humans and infected with no prejudice only to make a controversial decision at the end of the game saving Ellie’s life. In TLOU2 Joel dies and Ellie proceeds to go on her own campaign of brutality only to make a controversial decision at the end letting Abby live! Both games leave you thinking what you would do in that situation if you were them. And to the people that say well Joel did his killing outta necessity to protect Ellie and get her to the fireflies while Ellie just went on a senseless murder spree. Imagine having to witness the person who chose your life over the world essentially be murdered with a 9 iron. I hate golf. I woulda been pissed
