My favorite Hammer film of all time; their 2 best actors with an unforgettable Lee, splendid sets and a very brisk and enjoyable narration... a wonderful film very overshadowed by Dracula and Frankenstein but equally as good

I’m definitely a Frankenstein/ mummy guy of hammer 100% (other than blood from the mummy’s tomb LOL I’ll never watch that film again... ever)

All too true. However, a third personage must be added, and for whom the success of the Hammer films are equally indebted: James Bernard. The Master.

euphrates556 well America did have the Universal classics as well as the Vincent Price starring Poe/Corman films

@@doublediamond9226 the poe/corman movies are very poor compared to hammer if it weren't for Vincent Price they would have been much worse

I guess it was Hammer and their script writers, repacking the Mummy theme, so they could make more than one movie for the idea?

Always under-appreciated and under utilized, Edward de Souza gas lost none of his charm or skill. The best voice in the world, bar none. He had it all, looks, talent, the ability to capture one's attention the moment he appeared. He had presence. The small vignette at the beginning would have made a wonderful film.

The little teaser intro is superb. is it just me or is Edward doing a very, very, very good impersonation of Andre Morell who starred in the Mummy's Shroud? If he is, it's excellent.

He absolutely carries Plague of the Zombies to another level with his performance. The scene between Sir James and Squire Hamilton is superb and of course, his delivery of just that one single word...Zombie...still sends shivers down my spine. For my money, he's also the finest Doctor Watson on screen.
