Donald Fearney's 'The Legend of Hammer Vampires' Documentary Part Three of Three.
LEGEND OF HAMMER VAMPIRES covers the whole history of Hammer films vampire classics...and some not so classic! From their first box office smash in 1958, with 'DRACULA / HORROR OF DRACULA' with Christopher Lee donning the cloak, through to the many Dracula sequels, to the spin off's of the Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu inspired 'The Vampire Lovers' with Ingrid Pitt, to the Karnstein trilogy, with 'Twins of Evil' with Peter Cushing, 'Lust for a Vampire' with Yutte Stensgaard, Ralph Bates and Mike Raven,. Other vampire entries get full coverage too like 'Vampire Circus' and the terrific, 'Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter'. The whole story is here, lavishly illustrated with rare production stills, interviews with the actors and directors, telling behind the scenes tales of how these Hammer Horrors were made. The Legend of Hammer vampires was Donald Fearney's first Hammer films documentary and the first time the whole story had been told, by the actors and people who were there. Christopher Lee, Caroline Munro, Jimmy Sangster, Christopher Matthews, Tudor Gates and many more relive the years, and share the tales. 'The Legend of Hammer Vampires' is still available commercially and sells on ebay, but we are very grateful, with Donald Fearney's blessing to present it here at the Peter Cushing Appreciation Society KZfaq account, for you to view yourself, for free! Please remember to subscribe to our youtube account, give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed the documentary, leave us a comment too.

The Brits had a way with atmospheric horror. This set the scene for which the entire movie was based on. Fleshing it out with timeless actors to fit within. The iconic musical score always told you what you were to expect. Granted, you can only stick to the same thing before you wind up flogging a dead horse. The Hammer horse would not go down without a fight. But the end was inevitable. I believe it was for the best, for it's in memory that we find our links into our past. We cherish the past rather than the present. A fitting end to a great genre. Long live Hammer.

I've always loved AD 1972 since i first saw it when i was about 9. I was 7 when i first saw Satanic Rites, i wasn't a fan of that one as a kid, but since my mid 20's have really liked it. (The first one i saw was Prince of Darkness in 1986 when i was 6, and i loved it).

Love watching Hammer films. The actors, sets and storylines. I liked especially in the earlier films although horror some scenes were left to your imagination. The violence wasn’t in your face like today’s films. We will never get a stable of actors like that again

And it’s the way film and television has turned out it just how the original charm of them all stays with us forever And how the originals are made proves that even though they may have been mishaps, errors or hitches while filming They always still manage to pull something of out of what they even had back then in the day.

I have all of them as well. I've owned them on VHS, DVD, Bluray and now 4k bluray. Not all of them are available on 4k, but there's a handful of em'. Dracula Prince of Darkness and Lust for a Vampire look *so* good in 4k. I just love these films and have since I was 9. I'm 36 now. I'm so thankful that my dad got me into them.

The death of Dracula in Satanic Rites was much like classic demise. The Horthon bushes was great touch. (These were same used in Crown of Thorns put upon Jesus's head after his lamentation.)

I think that people should always try to or consider with the tight budgets hammer we’re working with at the time p And it’s the same factor for television around that time and other film productions in both the United Kingdom and the United states And that even know you can’t always see it All the companies did put their best effort and tried to make everything seem as substantial as they could Even with b movies I believe that film industry even now do try their best to work with what they can especially back then in the 1960’s and the 1970’s and the 1950’s

And the problem with some critics I think is that they really only consider some of the perspectives of film and television especially the hammer themselves as a production team and company that did experiment with lots of things Unfortunately it seems like some critics are just too blind to see further into detail at all or into much other perspectives and looking at things in a different angle.

Big irony they probably spent more money on one series of buffy the vampire slayer , Than on any hammer films ,

And I often think that film critics and television critics Seem so critical and sensitive so but anything that occurred in films and television They were just being too contradicting over the way the films and television programmes shows and productions were made and created for the time And they should have still considered the effort that they did put into the films Even in the later years considering with the cheesiness perhaps of some of the films considered as just cheap and they should consider that they djd have to work with low budgets from the productions I’d bet they think in a different way now perhaps.
