Lucille Ball, The Undisputed Queen of TV Comedy stars in her hilarious follow-up to I Love Lucy!
LUCY MEETS JOHN WAYNE: When Mr. Mooney sends Lucy to the movie studio to deliver some papers regarding the financing on John Wayne's new film, she ignores his warning not to bother Mr. Wayne and finds herself lunching with him. Nervous and excited, Lucy proceeds to talk his ear off and finally splatters him with ketchup. Mr. Wayne takes that as his exit cue, but Lucy soon tracks him to the set of his film, where she continuously screws up the production.

Lucille Ball was the greatest comedian ever and was seen as such in her lifetime. Came up #1 in different poles - received all kinds of awards in her lifetime. Marc Daniels, her first director on ILL, said that she was the greatest actor he ever directed, and he had directed people like Sally Field, Paul Newman, Laurence Olivier and others. Also when Orson Welles appeared on ILL and was watching her from the wings, he was asked why he was so absorbed - he said I am watching the greatest American actor. Yes, she did receive credit from many many people during her lifetime - a reputation which continues today 2022.

Russell told me that JW's widow would walk her small dog every morning. I remember wondering whether, had JW still been alive, would I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to meet him in person!?! I knew he was wonderful because of his reputation with all his old movies that my mom used to watch, my mom adored him, and with JW being a resident of Newport Beach, OC even named their airport after him. @@chaturongarchary9773 7Well Walter Winchell and Hedda Hopper were folks really hot on HUAC which investigated folks including Lucille Ball. She let bygones be bygones abt Winchell and said that Hedda Hopper was one of her favorite people. (Something I never understood re Hopper) Agree with the former comment Trumbo was a really good film. Showed how Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger the former for Spartacus and the latter for Exodus insisted that Trumbo's name be on the film as screen writer. Amazing how many of his films won Academy Awards - finally it all came out, such as Roman Holiday et al.

I remember when this was broadcast in the '60s. It was a big deal, not only in ratings, but, as a kid, for me! The El Paso paper also had a full page ad for the "War Wagon", when it was released. I had that for years. At least Kirk Douglas is still with us. 102 yrs old!!! Way to go!😃

Amazing to look back and think about the old days with secretaries, shorthand, having letters dictated to them. The older days when they had secretarial pools full of typists. Lucille Ball was talented as well as a beautiful lady. Outside of the studio, she was said to be very focused on the family.
