The Maasai tribe are arguably the most famous tribe in Tanzania. It's very easy to visit the Maasai as a tourist. Tourists typically are greeted with a welcome dance, learn how the Maasai make fire and visit the Maasai houses. But this is just a very select window into Maasai life.
In this vlog I am going to visit the Maasai tribe to see a side to the Maasai that tourists rarely get to glimpse. We're going to watch the Maasai prepare one of their staple dishes right from the very beginning.
Buckle up, this is going to be a raw one...

You're a straight up badass. Watching the slaughter and eating the raw liver. You are immersing yourself in their culture, not just observing. I'm very glad I came across your channel and I look forward to catching up on several years of content.

Haha, thanks! I am so happy you appreciate my content. For sure, I really like to embrace cultures. There's so much we can learn from different cultures and although some experiences sure do push me out of my comfort zone, they are eye-opening and they change my perspective of the world. Hopefully they do that for you watching too :)

Ella you are a brave eater I'm not sure if I could eat raw liver. I'm not even a fan of cook liver

I'm a bit of a carnivore! I do enjoy eating strange cuts of meat and have liver at home quite a bit (although it is cooked!). Here I was mostly worried about food poisoning rather than not enjoying it. I nearly didn't have any for this reason but ultimately am so glad I tried it and my stomach was perfect afterwards.

3:44 I wouldn’t have a problem with raw liver per se except for the possibility of contracting a parasite.

Getting sick was my biggest concern too. Fortunately I was absolutely fine, not even experiencing the slightest stomach upset.

Sadly KZfaq isn't a fan of this type of content so I have to censor it or else it will be demonetised or could even be taken down by KZfaq. Sorry about that.

The Maasai needs to go to developed countries and interview people on why they use weapons to kill other humans instead of just using weapons for hunting or killing animals for meat … now that would be shocking compared to their cultural issues …

Do you think that maasais don't kill other people ? Ella didn't tell you all about them. They kill other people without any problems and they also hunt other people. At Zanzibar. Especially they hunt white women and there is no happy-end for those poor women in these stories. So many destroyed lives by maasais, you would be very surprised - knowing whole the naked true about this tribe. But 2 - 3 years spent at Zanzibar would teach you a lot.

Probably if you would have asked a women opinion they would have said that they were agreed with it, but why ? For the social pressure, for achieving a ''status'', beacuse since you are born they said that you have to do it, a woman that would decide to not get a FGM how would be treated in the community ? She couldn't have baby, she couldn't have an husband and she wouldn'd be accepted by the rest of the elder women. What if we take this woman and we put her in a community where you don't need to get a mutilation to achieve the status of being a Woman and being accepted by other ? Would she still be happy about doing it ? Sometimes traditions are Social Pressure. My opinion.
