That’s exactly what they went for, I wish these guys would be more aware of this stuff. He even mentions his binocs were brand new. He’s new to this and is looking for fame. It would be cool if maybe the guy that’s chasing them is another bounty hunter that Toros dad sent after him to retrieve his son. I know that’s a long shot but honestly idk. @@jomiles3605 I think that they diluted the essence of who the Sandpeople are. Tusken "Raiders" known for nearly wiping out an off-worlder settlement. The Stormtroopers orchestrate an attack on the Jawas framing the Sandpeople for it, suggesting that it's a common occurrence. Taking random pot shots at passing podracers. Kidnapping and murdering Shmi Skywalker. All of this is undermined by going down the "noble savage" road. They were isolationist/technoclast natives who viewed the very footprints of intruders on their dunes as blasphemy, for good reason. Making them betray their way of life for a shiny pair of binoculars showed how little the writers understood the lore.

That "Companion cube" has been in star wars since the original trilogy. That's the design of crates that the empire uses, and you can see them everywhere. I'm pretty sure almost every star wars game has them as well. So no, not a reference to Portal. If anything, Portal based their cube on the imperial crate.

I rolled my eyes when they revealed Mando was landing on Tatooine. But once they got on the planet, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was different. The place felt almost deserted. There are those storm trooper helmets on spikes. There was no music and barely anyone at the bar. The anti droid bartender was replaced by droids. The Tuskens weren't nearly as hostile. Clearly something really bad went down. Maybe the Empire purged the planet, maybe the death of Jabba resulted in some kind of war between the criminal factions or forced everyone to flee the planet. They weren't just using Tatooine because references, they're doing more world building and showing the state of the galaxy after the fall of the Empire. I liked that.

@DejectedCat
@DejectedCat 4 жыл бұрын
They already kind of explained it. The bounty hunter's guild no longer operates there, which in term took away a huge chunk of the local business. Sooner or later all the shops starts closing one by one like dominos, and thus even less people felt like hanging around, resulting even less business. Before you know it you have a ghost town.
@Shoddragon
@Shoddragon 4 жыл бұрын
Jabba is dead and as a result, Hutt operations on Tattooine are basically nonexistent (which included the slave trade). The Empire is in ruins. The Bounty Hunter's Guild doesn't have much reason to do business there anymore since nobody really lives on Tatooine and even fewer people try to hide there. Tatooine is otherwise a shithole that is 99.9% desert and no real vegetation. One of the native, sentient species is a group of nomads that are EXTREMELY hostile to all other sentient life forms. The other native, sentient species are a group of scavengers that will strip your machines apart and sell them back to you while you aren't looking. The apex predator of Tatooine is a giant super dragon whose roars are so terrifying, the two aforementioned native species shriek in terror at the mere roar of one of these dragons. I'm not sure what more information you want.

My headcanon is pretty much like Junktown (or was it the Hub?) in Fallout 1 where if you choose the virtuous option and get rid of the obvious, slobby crimeboss it ends up hurting the community's economy severely. So basically, when Jabba the Hutt gets choked out by a coked-up Carrie Fisher, it destroyed the economy of Mos Eisley because Jabba secretly had his fingers in a bunch of cookie jars and Big Jabba was too big to fail. That's my headcanon cause this Bounty Guild shit doesn't make much sense to me as a cause.

Phil Osopher yeah, I’m surprised that went over Joe’s head, and on top of that - that he wants things spelling out. The mystery is why I watch these shows, let my brain do at least SOME work otherwise I may as well watch the same thing over and over. Spoonfeeding is not my idea of entertainment. I’ve seen some people complain about lack of backstory, too - backstory is totally unnecessary unless it drives the narrative, and being Star Wars - a back story that is fragmented and comes into focus later down the line perfectly fits the narrative.

3:28 The Mandalorian is using a durable military gunship outfitted with the same model of twin medium repeating blasters as seen on AT-AT walkers. The bounty hunter was using an agile fighter designed to outmaneuver larger ships, which is exactly what he was doing, all while taking disabling shots as to not blow up the bounty target (baby Yoda). Even if they want baby Yoda dead or alive, they still need his genetic material for their schemes and on top of that, the bounty hunter needs proof of completing his task, regardless of that fact. So no, this is not a case of plot armor... It's a case of smart writing that apparently went over everyone's heads. Edit: It's also worth noting that, out of the few shots that landed on the gunship, only 3 penetrated. One into each wing and one into the left engine. You can see the rest being absorbed either into the armor itself or possibly a shield.
@FugacityCIT
@FugacityCIT 4 жыл бұрын
Another detail of this scene, why the braking maneuver worked. There isn't much hard mechanics over rule-of-cool in Star Wars ships/tech, but one thing usually shown is that small agile fighters might not have shields or if they do they need to set their deflectors front or back. The fighter probably had shields directed front so the Mando couldn't drop a bomb or engage a backwards turret. When The Mandalorian got behind the pilot, he probably didn't have time to switch his shields, or the system would have taken time to do so, allowing the kill shot.

Since we're all thinking critically and raising good questions, they mention they're surprised that the tusken raiders are not grunting, screaming, and marching single file in the desert as per the stereotype. The most plausible reason they would be marching single file, and following in each other's footsteps would be to maneuver around the anti-personnel mines that would be have been scattered about the dunes as shown in knights of the Old Republic.

I also like how they making sense of why the Mando was able to kill the IG droid so easily because it was point blank. Funny that a big complaint of theirs was that it was a filler side quest episode, when episode two was as well. Both of the core plots of these episodes was that Mando's ship got "damaged" and he had to go on a quest to "repair" it. The only difference was that in episode 2 we saw that the child has strong force powers, but that could have been written in to any episode.

I actually liked this episode better than the last one. The last one felt so random, find a village be their hero fall for the woman all within 30 minute episode time. At first I didn't like the bounty hunter in this one but he was ok by the end. He was a bit of pretty boy though, if they shaved his head and gave him a scar or a tattoo he would have fit in a bit better.

I feel as if Episode 4 was definitely the weakest of the 5 episodes we've gotten so far. Script was kind of weak and the plot itself was as well. This episode wasnt the best either, but id put it above 4. Think the show is starting to suffer from the amount of time the episodes last because it doesnt feel like much happens.

@@Simple1Jack Agreed. Considering they're already begun shooting season 2, I highly doubt any change in the runtime will occur. I don't think they knew how popular Star Wars on TV would be. @@roof1975 I'm not sure what your point is. This guy is saying runtime should be longer. He's right. Disney is thinking too small. They need to put more resources into recurring cast and longer episodes, stop making garbage movies, and launch consecutive live action Star Wars TV series. Mandalorian is the best Disney+ has to offer, but they shouldn't stop there. Again. They should be trying to compete with HBO and cable.

I mean, I kinda prefered this one to the last one. It felt exactly like I expected the majority of this show to go. Little short stories about this mofucker lonewolf and cubing it up trying to do bounty hunter missions whilst being a fugitive. It was a nice, clean little story. Obviously i'd prefer 45 minute episodes but hey this is what it is and im watching it for free and it feels like Star Wars so y'know.

Who hands a noob a puck for one of the most deadly assassins? This was just another episode full of set pieces to look cool, but without any intelligent writing. Hell, the Mandalorian (bounty hunter extraordinare) still cannot figure out that jamming the baby's tracker or having it removed would be a good idea. Comic book logic and video game set pieces.
