I always found it funny in matrix 4 they talked about a robot civil war some aligning with humans... But just glossed over it .. everyone was like what wait a minute we could have had a full movie about that a full on civil war instead we get Keanu Reeves seeing a psychiatrist for two hours

There are two ways they can go: 1. Sequel 2. Prequel If they do a sequel, it will involve Trinity and Neo to some degree. The last movie literally found a way to restore them. It would be a waste not to use Matrix 4 as a bridge to a new sequel trilogy. But if it's a prequel, then it should absolutely be about the rise of AI. That would be the most topical and relevant thing they could do right now. It has the potential to be a big hit if done well.

If the movie makers want to attempt to wow the fans like the originals did, they need to be daring to take the story in a different direction. I still think the dream within a dream conceot was great...and they could play with the philosophical aspect in that direction too. Doing another story of humans fighting machines won't garner a lot of interest as that's all they've been doing for 4 movies now.

They can either do a storyline centered around what was going on right before and during the Machine Civil War. Or do a sequel/prequel; just like what was done with Godfather 2. The prequel showing the first One and the so called Prophecy. And the sequel involving Neo and Trinity dealing with the Analyst, Agents, Merovingian/Smith, and the Heads of the Matrix; the ones responsible for the creation of the Analyst and rebuilding Neo and Trinity. Both situations would lead to a third and FINAL Matrix movie. It would be discovered that the first One was the Merovingian and his Trinity was Persephone before they turned bad. Also, discover that the Boss of the Analyst is Cypher! Not just his boss; but also his Father!

Matrix 5 -> Trinity will die but Neo will return to the source this time for sure (marking the start of a new cycle - neither reload nor resurrect but something else which will be revealed in the title of the movie). Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss’s final appearance as Neo and Trinity.

I hope, in the next movie, they explain how the “real world” is just another layer of the matrix and isn’t real either. The illusion of choice still kept them trapped in the matrix, making them believe they were free. This would also explain why neos powers extended into the “real” world.

Well, if it is indeed a 5, then imho it must have Neo/Trin/Smith etc.. I like the idea of Following Smith redemption OR A Prequel where Morphius seeks out his crew and ultimately Neo. If not a True sequel, Perhaps Bugs or Kid. Or just another ship. OR, a program... A program that has a bigger purpose somehow.... Perhaps a Program that becomes human without hijacking a body or Sharing a body...

I would love to see a final battle between the humans and machines with smith teaming up with neo and trinity. Smith destroying the matrix and neo and trinity going back to the machine city.

I don't know what TM5 could be about but the ideas presented seem interesting enough. Last night (4/11/24) while I was working...and daydreaming, I thought about TM with elements of Inception. It's fairly simple, unless I'm mistaken the machines didn't develop some ultra super advanced VR hardware and essentially used...well an ultra super advanced version of that "dream induction machine" used in Inception. Then I thought about the code seen by Neo as a sort of "prison bars", you know like Morpheus told Neo about The Matrix being a MENTAL prison. Wouldn't it be neat if when the anomaly's "die" they really "go deeper" into the simulation alongside time being compressed or whatever it was, a la Inception?

I honestly think 5 will be a sequel and will conclude Neo and Trinity's story. Then, there's absolutely a chance to go in and start a brand new trilogy that focuses on the creation of the Matrix.

I would love for the WB to think outside the box and create a horror prequel of the 2nd Renaissance. Part 2 was quite a disturbing / dreary fate of rhe humans.

For me, the number 1 most necessary scenario in which the film should develop. To show the audience where all this is coming from. If they do it like that, I think it will be the most successful. For me, The Matrix 4 was absolutely pointless with reverberation love story. I hope Drew reads these lines and learns a lesson.

Indeed. Using The Second Renaissance as a starting point is the only interesting way to go from here. Not only does it make perfect sense from the AI-perspective. It would also add the much needed backstory for this franchise which is a goldmine imo. Thirdly it could add new and welcome elements like horror to the franchise. I'd love to see an entire trilogy devoted to this, but that seems a bit like wishful thinking. I think I'd also prefer the anthology series format like the Animatrix because you can go a lot further than you can with the limitations of a cinematic release. And there's still lots to be explored with all these different concepts with the narrative and visual styles. Again, the Animatrix is a great example. Love, Death & Robots is another good example. But indeed.. I concur with your nr. 1 potential storyline going forward from here.

There is a thing in the matrix that needs to be addressed because it puts holes in many other premises and reasoning within its story. It seems to have been its core reason and meaning for the matrix itself , " battery or source of power" for the machines. It's the reason for the trilogy and the reason to rebirth neo in matrix 4, and for some reason, in matrix 3, they teased a question by showing neo and trinity going above the clouds revealing the sun. In that moment, remembering back, I actually thought well what was the point in going to all the trouble to make a matrix to source power when the machines could have just let humans die out and build floating hovering lands above the clouds. This has never made sense to me. Why did they not build upwards. The idea maybe to keep aliens out doesn't work because a simple ship broke through. So if there is a power source above the clouds, then why would the machines still need humans. I think this is a fantastic opportunity to explain that which will include all the previous films and provide a further platform for other films to follow. Perhaps above the clouds machines and humans live together or are both human and machines cybernetic species. Like all species, we need a history, a balance, an equilibrium. Therefore, that cybernetic species created both the machine world and the humans to find that equilibrium. In context beneath the clouds is there own matrix filled with machines and humans. Not for power because they have the sun but solely to gain knowledge of the essence of life. However, successful AI it can't ever establish the meaning of life. It may feel it does, but it will know that is a programmed process. Perhaps above the clouds is a species which is a result of humanity and machines using its own matrix filled with all that has happened to date, searching for the answers of humanity or life. It would also explain many lost questions such as neo destroying the machines outside the matrix construct. How he saw smiths silhouette in burning orange. How the sentinels past through his ship with orange burnt entrails. Neo could have come from a human matrix into a machine matrix and the real world above the clouds was the real world where both species were one species needing their ancestor's in search of an equilibrium or meaning for life.

Matrix 5: Eyes of the Oracle. Neo and Trinity reeneter the matrix after receiving a cryptic message regarding the Oracle. (Her shell was purged but some parts remain (the eyes and...she still loves candy). Which begs the question, is it possible some piece of the Oracle remained imprinted/copied onto Smith?

The Animatrix is good enough as a prequel

The Matrix will show u how unreal the real world is, waking up in a dream to wake up in another dream, living your normal life but things dont seem to go right, errors in the matrix, bugs, dejavus, a secret group of hackers who know some of the truth, rebels, persuit, falling from buildings to crash and wake up again, action, portals to another worlds, aliens, psychiq habilities like teleportation, bilocation, moving objects with your mind, people with strange habilities over the reality, bending reality...🌀

The man machine war will be mindblowing, the fall of humanity will be a really interesting topic, see how humanity become hopeless and try more desperate tactics like nuclear armagedon and the nano machines veil on the sky, the second reinasance is just to short for that kind of history.

I'm just curious why it's being made. I must assume that the show is doing well enough on streaming to tell the big wigs that it would be worthwhile to make another. It would make sense. Matrix 4 came out during lockdown, or very close after I don't remember the timeline, but people were not lining up to go to theaters. It's a huge IP and even though the last movie was not very good, I do think this one has a shot to do well. And it could be good, right? Anything can be good. Please let it be good. . .

Another film that covers old ground seems derivative. I wholeheartedly like the expansion of the universe as a whole, but I’ll be a bit luke warm on a story that spends 120 min on a story that the comics/animatrix has already covered, even if briefly. I always liked the idea of another animatrix which allows other artist to provide their own spin on the story.

I disagree that a prequel trilogy is the best direction for the 5th film, I'd like to see something more like what tthe T.V. show for 12 Monkeys did by continuing the mythos and going way more in-depth into the end game, After seeing the ending to The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived handle it so well I think one thing Hollywood storytellers fail so often to do is finish what they started with a bookend that feels satisfying. Of course there's always room for reboots and spin offs, but I think that changing Neo's role and using him as more of an Obi-Wan style mentor and ramping up the the villains by getting to what the Analyst called 'The Suits' over 3 films is way more interesting. Of course casting is the biggest question in my eyes, have Keanu play off of an undetermined 'One', where even with all his experiences and victories from the past he still feels threated and discorvers the furthest extremes of the rabbit hole. Are humans responsible for the simulation and the entire thing the ultimate form of eltist's control in a dystopian future? Or is A.I. inherently and inevitably malevolant, yet with it's own abilities so vast that common conundrums of space/time leave it twisted with a form of empathy akin to how we domesticate animals ourselves as pets. How close to it's creator does a life form wish to become? These are interesting questions, and although I am a huge fan of Ressurections, still thinking it is one of the most important films of our generation, this channel I feel has overlloked some very poignant elements of how it ended. Wars between gods, a newer and more exciting intellectual playing field was set ip between Trinity, Neo and the Matrix, and the Analyst although defeated made some powerful points about the collective human pysche and how our species acclimatizes to it's own progressions and accomplishments. Is the same likely to happen with artifical life? When did A.I. really start? With the first computer or even the first radio signal? There is so much left unsaid about humanity's embrace of technology, and a long way left to go in this story, I just hope that the minds of the audience aren't so blue-pilled to jump on invisible band-wagons like the Critical Drinker's arguements about the 4th film...which I found to be more self-serving and tied to the public's perception of what he neede to say, rather than look deeper into the irony that was set up against his critisms......in the actual script of Matrix 4!!!! I would like a sequel maybe hundred of years after matrix 4. More machines have rebelled and took the human side. Story would be around a new hero android that becomes self aware. He is part of a new crew and their mission is to download the code of "neo". Hero character at the end has no choice but to upload the code into himself. Cyberpunk Johny Silverhand vibe with Keanu talking to the hero in his head helping him to understands his new "the one" powers.
