I think the girl was in on the whole thing, she was pretending to be an interest in Abel, so he would save her. She was never a hostage she was a "false alarm" she wasn't in any danger she was a part of it all. But in the end she took her chance to get away with it all with no trial left behind

I think the hostage and abel were in on it together because 1. When red mask guy grabs her she looks to him for help 2. he gets her out of the getaway truck and into the van instead of the money because he cares about her more than money 3. when the other robber tries to kill him, she kills the other robber to save him because her and abel are together 3. after she kills the robber her expression shows connection/relief before she notices the driver is dead 4. when the van is about to crash he puts his arms out as if to protect her from the impact 6. when they come to he notices he is mortally wounded he then looks at her and throws her the keys to the cuffs ( which I am sure it is no coincidence he had and held onto the whole time) instead of focusing on himself and his injury 7.when she crawls over to him she looks at him with sorrow and he cups her face with his hand,which indicates a deeper relationship than trying to help someone you kidnapped, that is an intamite gesture. It seems more like he knew he was dying and was saying goodbye. 7.once it is clear he is dying and no longer an asset for her she lays her hand on the bag of money and her expression changes to reflect her nature of self preservation, it's almost like you can hear her saying "sorry but I gotta take care of myself." ( this part seems to tie into the meaning of the the song, kinda like he thought it was real love but it was just a false alarm) 8. after she takes the money and leaves him to die he picks up the gun as if to kill her for her betrayal, but can't because he has feelings for her 8. she takes the money and flees because she was in on it and probably knows they will tie her into the robbery. Because who is really gonna take a big duffel bag full of money and escape on foot,then be on the run their whole lives on a seconds notice? and as a side note I think he commited suicide because of regret,that may be why he held the cross or possibly he was asking for forgiveness because he was intending to commit suicide. but hey, what the hell do I know!

I think personally that she was taken as the hostage because people likes to save good looking people more, but then time by time in the situation, she showed care and like the lyric said “she loves everybody, can’t you tell? She’s a false alarm for me” That either means he knew the others knew that she was a good girl but chose the money over the girl(sympathy is no where around by them) Or the only guy who picked up her caring signs knew that she shouldn’t had been in the one in that situation because at the end, we see him giving the keys but the girl saved him from death so he freed her from her chains. Even tho she tried to help him escape or she tried to make him live when she reached out her hands, he knew she was too caring and he was going to die anyways so he forced her to go away freely while he slowly died. So basically the whole story is that the guy piece by piece figured she was too pure for that situation so he kept trying to keep her safe which in end costed his life. He was bleeding fast and too much. Which is why it was a false alarm for him, he knew too. And he let her took the money because they couldn’t do anything with it so she forced her to take the money with her, she could’ve either taken it for herself or she took it back to the bank which I think she did.
