@Robert Reital as a doctor, even if every lawsuit that comes at you is false or frivolous, a hospital administrator would still be looking at the shear number of cases brought against you. if patients are always coming after you for something, they're not gonna keep you around because you're a liability to the hospital. administrators are responsible for the reputation of the hospital, and if any doctor has stacks of lawsuits filling their office, people are gonna assume the hospital is ok with that

Stacy tells Chase to skip the details about House having trouble opening the vicodin bottle, because it's not relevant. And then not even a minute later, ends up asking a question that she would've known the answer to if she hadn't deemed the vicodin bottle an irrelevant detail. The small details are very relevant when a doctor ends up making a mistake. Especially because, a minute after that, she does the same thing in regards to Chase's dad. She doesn't think it's relevant, and she tells him to move on and stop talking about it. As it turns out, Chase's dad is the MOST relevant detail.

Spoilers for anyone who wants to know what happened, although this is a pretty good episode if you haven't seen it: Chase found out his estranged father died on the phone the same moment this women came in and he ended up dismissing her symptoms, which caused complications that ultimately lead to her death. Nothing really came of it until he weirdly told her brother that he was drunk and messed up her diagnosis. Good episode, there are a lot of ups and downs with a bunch of stuff that happened in between.

@@Isebelle13 First they thought it was Behcet's disease. Turns out they were wrong and the disease causes liver damage and in turn causes multiple other organ damage. The brother donated one of his lobes to the sister but turns he fakes lab tests to hide the fact that he has hepatitis C. Later House figured it was actually liver cancer, and that both the siblings actually has cancer. Cancer makes the sister ineligible for a new transplant so she dies a few months later, however the brother is saved because his cancer is still in very early stages

This is kinda unrelated to this clip but I don’t understand. This show kept saying in season 1 that working for House was the most prestigious fellowship in the country, but then when Foreman leaves, he can’t find another job. He got the Mercy one, I guess, but if he went to John Hopkins med school and had the most prestigious fellowship in the US, places should be begging him to come work for them. Him having one bad job experience shouldn’t change that (since he didn’t kill anyone and it didn’t end in him being sued). I’m sorry if this seems ranty and minute, but it’s always bothered me. Am I supposed to believe his fellows got the best gig in the country or am I supposed to believe people will hesitate to hire them if House rubs off on them in any way?
@Link-oy4ok
@Link-oy4ok 3 жыл бұрын
At Mercy, Foreman made a call similar to House style and basically, every employer thought Foreman was like House. House is reckless and annoying and gets fired from several hospitals before PPTH. Foreman was probably in a similar situation and just couldn’t find a job because he was too similar to House but not as brilliant. Reckless and Wrong
@eZetaaa
@eZetaaa 3 жыл бұрын
think about it this way: yes, it was the most prestigious fellowship in the country but only because of the results and the abilities house have. notice that NO ONE wanted to work with house and it's only for one good reason: because they can't. they can't work the way house does, no one takes risks and it's all in hands of burocracy (and this is is evidenced on the job where foreman was fired). in a way, the entire show had it's way to represent real life problems, especially the risk management situations. all people on high places (bosses) have to think of the burocracy before the risks and that is where problems are born. it's really represented all over the show in every season... for example notice how cuddy freaks out every time house comes up with a risky solution. that's her job, freak out and find a safer way to do the thing, but when it comes to deal the problem face to face she turns up to house's side and this is not something someone, to not say almost no one, gonna end up doing in the first place
@raflystiansahlatif5293

House is pretty much unemployable in every other hospital because he's pretty much famous because of his "diagnostic process". However, they don't deny his skills and his interns are definitely sought after under the condition that they are crazy and reckless like House. The job at Mercy pretty much proved to everyone that Foreman is exactly like House and that made him unemployable, just like House...

How come these people tracked down their doctors so easily? I make appointments and still have to wait for an hour. As an FYI a doctor should / would never do an intimate examination such as a pelvic exam without a chaperone (witness) it's very risky for both the patient and the doctor
@aekislandangel
@aekislandangel 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t necessarily know if that’s true as my midwives never have anyone else in the room during them unless they have a student following them. Granted the OB/GYN world could definitely be different circumstances than everyday practice at a clinic.
@SK-in1zf
@SK-in1zf 3 жыл бұрын
@@aekislandangel You're always told to have another healthcare professional on the room for an intimate exam. I could see some cases were midwives, gynaecologists, obstetricians, etc might if they are of the same gender as the patient. However, it is always best to have a chaperone, whether the professional is male or female, for the protection of one the patient against misuse of power (e.g. the scandal in the Olympics) and two the physician against wrongful litigation.
@aekislandangel
@aekislandangel 3 жыл бұрын
@@SK-in1zf I men’s all I can say it that you have probably never been on a labor and delivery unit. Nurses/OB/midwives will all check you without another medical professional in the room. While I am not arguing that is best practice I am simply saying that it happens quite frequently and yes for legal reasons may be best to have someone else in there for a potential issue but when your short staffed and and several women in labor it is highly unlikely you would find another nurse with a free moment to come in the patients room with you while you check their cervix.
@SK-in1zf
@SK-in1zf 3 жыл бұрын
@@aekislandangel Of course you are right in the context of someone giving birth to a child. I am speaking in the context of pelvic, breast and rectal exams and just trying to help people understand why it's a good thing to have another professional in the room. Many patients feel sometimes embarrassed and uncomfortable having multiple people around during these procedures, but in medical school you're always taught to have a chaperone. In the contact of labor this is a different story as it there is a higher amount of emergency and frequency of exams going on. PS - Not a guy if that's what you were saying in the very beginning of your reply
