A video log breakdown of my Moai 2-way vented Bookshelf Speaker build with slideshow and music demos.
Drivers:
Dayton Audio PC83-8ohm 3" Driver

5/8" Pine with 1/2" MDF, .23 cubic feet internal volume, 8.2" x 4.5" x .5" slot port. .02 sealed box for tweeter.

2nd order for both tweeter and woofer at 1500Hz

-Recorder in my garage( No sound treatment) Speakers were 3 feet from each other and 3 feet from the mic.

-Topping MX3 Amp
-Dayton Audio DATS 3
-Dayton Audio iMM-6 mic
Most measurements are nearfield ( 2mm- to 3 feet)

A little follow up to answer some questions. I am using these in a 2.1 channel system with a small sub and they blend quite well. The Tectonic BMR tweeter is surprisingly good in this setup. The wide dispersion pattern and thin baffles makes these small books shelfs sound larger than they are. The only issue with the tweeter is its low sensitivity(80db) and power handling (10watts rms). I think this imbalance in sensitivity between the drivers(5db) is why I did not need a baffle step circuit in this design. Just be careful how much signal and wattage you send through this tweeter.

Do you think 15 watt could damage BMR ?

@OscarHernandez-ym4hx It's max output is rated at 20 watts so it should be fine. If you cross it over high enough, like 1500Hz+, it should function like any other tweeter in its' price range.

I've thought about building a similar design but with the HiVi B4N woofer for deeper bass. Low crossover point with this tweeter at the baffle step and with a baffle step of around 4db to put on stands. Thanks for this build! It's nice to hear the tweeter in action. The Tectonic tweeter is flat at about 79-80db on the Tectonic website response plot and yours looks like it's up around 84 or better though?

I rolled the Tectonic BMR off around 1500Hz which I think helped raise the sensitivity up a few db. The main issue is to watch your wattage to them. They're rated only to 20 watt peaks.
