We have major biases when imagining what advancement even means. We assume sentient aliens will want to expand, to gather all the energy. I could see some being fine with their resource allocation strategies and advancing in other ways, like creative expression, or diving into the nature of the universe with their version of meditation. All of these aliens are grabby like us. Maybe the most advanced beings are still and at eternal peace but still live.

Just to clarify I think there is instead of 3 class there 6 class types on the Kardashev scale, the three you just listed the fourth mastering space and time, the 5th as in fifth dimensional species, and the 6th class species are able to manipulate the time continuum gain the power of other quantum parallels, I don't know if I got that in the right order but yeah also, the Dyson sphere, I would like to include in this discussion that if aliens were to use that many resources, they would not have very much material themselves, a star covers a lot of space, for the third class species to use all of that material would be a waste, now for them to figure out energy methods on to surrounding a star, of a certain field of energies that can be used as portals like in wormholes surrounding a star making the star dimming, well they use wormholes to transfer the energies to cores of planets would make a lot more sense for intelligent species by the way if I can add this and for people to take me seriously I think that is more of what is going on when you look at those Dyson spheres, you may find them correct...

Yeah, or they could dupe the species of another planet, who have no use for gold at the time other than to wear it because it looks shiny, into believing gold is so beautiful it’s worth entire generations mining for it for thousands and thousands of years before they even figured out electricity to even be able to understand gold is a great conductor of it and that it’s not just a cool looking shiny rock that they can’t eat but really want anyway for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway, heres a reciepe- For years, I couldn’t seem to find a recipe for brownies that met my standards. Anytime I made homemade brownies, I wanted them to be just like the ones I ate as a kid - super fudgy, moist, and chocolaty, with crispy edges and crackly tops. But the thing is, these brownies didn’t come from a recipe. We always made them from a box. Nowadays, I prefer to bake from scratch, but no brownie recipe I tried could live up to the chocolate brownies of my childhood. So this fall, as I flipped through Michelle Lopez’s new book Weeknight Baking, her recipe for Boxed Mix Brownies, From Scratch caught my eye. Would I finally be able to make homemade brownies that would be just as delicious as the ones from a box? The verdict: yes! I’ve had this brownie recipe on repeat since the first time I tried it. It calls for basic pantry ingredients, and it’s hardly more difficult than using a mix. As for the brownies, they’re true perfection - glossy, fudgy, and filled with rich chocolate flavor. Trust me, you’re going to want to make them ASAP! Recipe for Brownies ingredients Homemade Brownie Recipe Ingredients Back to Michelle’s recipe for brownies! In order for it to turn out like (aka better than) the boxed mix, Michelle uses granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, salt, and chocolate chips. Then, she adds these key ingredients: 2 eggs + water - Michelle uses a bit of water with the eggs to achieve the moist, gooey texture of boxed mix brownies without any commercial emulsifiers. And because this recipe doesn’t contain any baking powder, eggs are essential for helping the brownies puff up in the oven. Powdered sugar - The trick to making homemade brownies that are just like ones from a box! Powdered sugar contains cornstarch, which helps thicken the batter without the chemical additives you’d find in a mix. Unsweetened cocoa powder - Michelle recommends using Hershey’s Special Dark Dutch-processed cocoa powder (I used Whole Foods’ 365 Cocoa Powder). Make sure to sift it if it’s lumpy! Oil - While many recipes for brownies use unsalted butter, Michelle’s calls for canola oil, just like the boxed mix. I use olive oil because it’s what I keep on hand, and I love the rich flavor. Vanilla Extract - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla really amps up the chocolate flavor. That’s it! These fantastic homemade brownies are so easy. How to make brownies from scratch How to Make Brownies from Scratch First, mix together the dry and wet ingredients in two separate bowls. Combine the sugar, flour, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and salt in a medium bowl. Then, whisk together the eggs, olive oil, and water in a large one. Dry ingredients in a mixing bowl Next, combine the wet and dry ingredients. Sprinkle the dry mixture over the wet one, and fold until just combined. The batter will be thick! Homemade brownies batter Then, pour the batter into an 8×8 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper. Use a rubber spatula to spread it to all four sides of the pan and to smooth the top. The mixture will be very thick - that’s ok. Pouring batter into a pan Finally, bake! Transfer the pan to a 325-degree oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few crumbs attached. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They also freeze well for up to a month. Last time I made these, I doubled the recipe and stored the second batch in the freezer. It was so fun to have them on hand for a quick and easy dessert or afternoon treat! Chocolate brownies Brownies on parchment paper Best Brownie Recipe Tips Better chocolate chips = better brownies. In her book, Michelle writes that one of the biggest secrets to making great brownies is using large, good-quality chocolate chips. She recommends Ghiradelli’s 60% Cacao Bittersweet Baking Chips, while I love Enjoy Life’s Dark Chocolate Morsels. Either brand would fantastic in this recipe! It’s better to pull them out too early than to leave them in too long. No one likes dry brownies, so err on the side of caution when you’re making this recipe. Bake them until a toothpick inserted comes out with just a few crumbs attached. If you’re on the fence, go ahead and take them out of the oven. They’ll continue to firm up as they cool! Wait for them to cool. Try your best to resist eating these guys straight out of the oven. Letting them cool makes them gooier and fudgier, and they’ll be less likely to crumble when you slice them. Plus, they’ll have an even richer chocolate flavor. Trust me, it’s worth the wait! Weeknight baking book More Favorite Desserts If you love this brownie recipe, try one of these yummy treats next! They're fudgy, moist, and super chocolaty, with perfect crispy edges. From Weeknight Baking by Michelle Lopez. Equipment 8x8 Baking Dish (this is the one I use so they don't overcook) Cooking Spray (I love this avocado oil one from Chosen Foods) Parchment Paper (this makes it so much easier to remove the brownies from the pan) Ingredients 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 2/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted if lumpy 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted if lumpy 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips 3/4 teaspoons sea salt 2 large eggs 1/2 cup canola oil or extra-virgin olive oil** 2 tablespoons water 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Cook Mode Prevent your screen from going dark Instructions Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lightly spray an 8x8 baking dish (not a 9x9 dish or your brownies will overcook) with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Spray the parchment paper. In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and salt. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, olive oil, water, and vanilla. Sprinkle the dry mix over the wet mix and stir until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan (it'll be thick - that's ok) and use a spatula to smooth the top. Bake for 40 to 48 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs attached (note: it's better to pull the brownies out early than to leave them in too long). Cool completely before slicing.*** Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. These also freeze well! Notes *If you'd like to reduce the sugar, I've had success with 1 cup granulated sugar instead of 1 1/2 cups. **I like to use olive oil because it's what I keep on hand and I enjoy the pairing of olive oil with chocolate. Keep in mind that you will taste it here. For a more neutral flavor, use canola oil. ***When these brownies come out of the oven, they'll be super gooey in the middle. Allow them to cool completely, about 2 hours, before you slice into them to give them a chance to set up. They'll continue to firm up the longer they're out of the oven. If you still prefer a firmer brownie, store them in the fridge.

9:39 the method of communication could possibly be a neutrino guns that can shoot data at near (or possibly faster than) light speed, can pass through everything, and can only be detected by super advanced neutrino detectors, some probably the size of megastructures. Perhaps such a benevolent civilization as you mentioned in the video would send blueprints/messages across the galaxy for all civilizations to decipher once they've reached a certain technological level. For instance, the neutrinos we detect today could be tiny bits of a larger more complex message that we'd only be able to detect possibly after (or right before reaching) type 1 or 2 civilization. Or alternatively we're unintentionally eavesdropping on someone else conversation

This video reminds me of a long-held sentiment of mine: I like how we humans always classify ourselves at some extreme end. We're the "smartest" on Earth, and yet, our intelligent civilization may be the amoung the most primitive (We're .7 and haven't even championed class-1 civilization, says the narrator of this video.) In conversation, we dislike the hasted "all or nothing" concept, and yet, we still silently think in these terms; almost as if we aren't worth a catapult-flung shyt unless we're not some bland, boring in-between. Is it possible, ever so slightly possible, to perceive ourselves as a class-5 civilation amoung, say, 10 levels of civilization? Why not? Who said this was wrong?

Strikes me that considering the sheer Size and age of the Universe, there’s literally No telling who or what might be out there, how long they’ve been there, or in what numbers. And at what level of advancement. We Humans like to think that we’re God’s most noble creation. Well, not all of us, some of us know better. But to the degree that a Waterbug can think, they probably have a similarly inflated view of themselves. 😊

Good job overall. Thank you..... But.... Thing is... We think of the term "advanced" relative to ourselves. Ie: a technological civilization.... But... For all we know... There COULD BE a civilization that (for example) is a marine life form that evolved in a hycean world. Which could be hyper intelligent and figured out the universe in ways we can't imagine. No "technology" or anything. Maybe just "octo-squids" that figured out how to psychically scan the universe and / or teleport from hycean world to hycean world. Or, as in the story of the STARSHIP TROOPERS... and insectoid-ish species that only build their nests from rock and soil... No machines...but have found a way to look out at the universe and colonize worlds via some means of panspermia. In any event, there's no way to know until we know. It's all just pure guesswork and imagination.

Very entertaining, and all highly unlikely. While interstellar travel is not theoretically impossible, it may prove to be impracticable. Any tech civs out there that may exist, will be in the same boat we're in when it comes to relativistic (of whatever percentage of c) space travel. Btw, according to the late theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson, yes, the Dyson sphere guy, in order to warp space at will like Captain Kirk and company, it would take the energy of the entire MW Galaxy. And that's not just all the apparent, radiant energy, but all the POTENTIAL energy in every frickin' atom!

We have studied 20 million stars, and not one can support life as they are ALL too unstable, we are alone. The Sun is the only stable star. Of the 4,100 solar systems studied, not one looks like our solar system, able to support life. Almost all the 4,100 solar systems studied have Hot Jupiters. In normal planetary systems, giant planets form beyond snow line and then migrated towards the star. A small percentage of giant planets migrate far from the star. In both types of migrations, any rocky planet like an earth is lost in these planetary migrations. Most stars do not have planets. Many stars are in bi-star systems, thus no earth-type planets. Thus we are alone.

This current info. If the odds are 1 to 20 million, only a fool would bet that next year the odds will be better. Just 10 years ago the odds were 1 to 1 million (1 million stars studied). Each year we are finding that a stable star like our sun is very rare. The Sun's variation of only 0.1% over a 13 years cycle is very rare. The next stable start is only 2 to 3 %.

It is telling that our only metric for progress is power. What if that scale only represents the less developed species? What if true development is gauged by the higher species in peace. How much personal peace, not power, one has is the highest metric. Wisdom, not knowledge, is valued. As is contentment, not creature comforts. Spiritual development, instead of weapons of war, is valued. In these civilizations, controlling ones self, not controlling others, is the goal of life and the purpose of society. Our culture is still working with fission, whereas the wise out there amongst the stars, know that genuine progress comes with fusion, in unifying not undermining. God is not done with us just yet!

Fanciful thinking. In reality, no sane civilization would leave their solar system without being able to 'fold' space. Moreover, in our solar system, all the mass we have within it would fit inside Jupiter so, a Dyson sphere would be impossible here. We'd best stick with the Solar Empire until we achieve 'folding'.
