this was a great technique. I'll be using this in new england to get farther casts just to see if there's some rocks that were unreacheble to me before. BTW, it helped me understand the most after replaying the parts where you casted an actual weight/bait in x0.25 speed. to any other viewers, the slo-mo was a supplemental help to his well described and displayed techniques and I recommend you watch the casting parts in a slower speed to fully grasp the physical technique.

Ramon - thanks for adding a helpful comment. It’s a shame that two of the three previous replies were hacker spam. I actually appreciated your tip on the playback speed. Beach Bomber showed us his technique slowly and deliberately enough that I don’t think HE should have provided slow motion sequences when KZfaq gives us the tool to use on our own. But I didn’t consider it until your comment. Thanks again.

@@loonatticat only reason why i suggest he provide it is because there's a better chance get a better quality slo-mo from video editing software pre-uploading than youtube's built-in feature post-uploading. if you have a higher end camera with those capabilities to record, even better. but yeah, not necessary, just a good technique that helped me.

Thank you. Last week, I was fishing for leopard shark on the mud flat in Humboldt Bay, California. I used to think distance didn’t matter because the sharks and rays feed all over the flat- any spot was as good as any other. I was proven wrong last week when the water was clear enough to see 30-40 big sharks feeding in slightly deeper water that was just out of my casting range. I made short casts and kept catching the little guys. I plan to practice your method before going back. I’l be able to catch the big guys if they are in the same place.

awesome video man. casting far is definately fun and really does make a differences wen fishing is hard. my 'go-to' surf reels definately the ultegra with the long spool and slow oscillation really made a huge differences in my surfcasting recently matched with a south african style surf rod. for my favourite accessory for surfcasting is the finger guard. really helps getting that powerful cast without getting your finger sore at the end of the day.

One critical thing about this guide is to let people know it's all about timing. The reason any of these long distance casts work is because you're loading the rod a lot earlier than just letting the weight hang behind you for a normal cast. In this case you're loading the rod by starting with the rod next to your chest and then pushing out. This will help pre-load the rod before starting the casting toward your target motion. The 'issue' I see with this method is if you don't get your timing right, because the weight is swinging on a parallel line to your target, if you miss the window where the weight behind the tip, you can fire it off 45 degrees in the wrong direction. This won't happen with the pendulum or ground method as the motion is all on the target line.

Salut.

You can't cast an open face the same as a spinning...completely different techniques.
@psycheout4733
@psycheout4733 17 күн бұрын
@@glennunderwood4690 Incorrect as BOTH still require you to load the rod, accelerate the weight and finally release the weight that's held on tension after it's been accelerated. It doesn't matter if it's your finger holding the line or if it's your finger holding the spool, the weight flies in the direction of momentum at the time of release. The technique only changes for the change in hand position to hold the line in tension. The basic physics to load the road and accelerate the weight doesn't change in the slightest regardless of reel type.
