Im not an avid NBA fan, but back in my college days in 2011, I randomly told some of my friends that the Bucks will be champ within the decade. I remember saying this because, for some reason, I felt like the Bucks were one of the obscure teams at the time and that It would be fun to watch an obscure team to win out of nowhere. Y’all gotta think about the odds of getting the finals prediction right again. It’s not ASTRONOMICAL. It’s unlikely, but not insane. Saying raps in 6 only requires you to predict one team: 1/30. And then how many games to win the finals. You have four outcomes for that: 1/4. So, the raps in 6 prediction has a maximum unlikelihood of 1/120. Without assuming a basic level of NBA knowledge. That’s already not insane. However, we could reduce the first probability further. Just by looking at espn stats you could probably rule out 10-15 teams from any semblance of legitimate contention. Assuming the latter, we take 1/15 for that probability. Additionally, in making a prediction , there is a far greater likelihood that an NBA finals ends in 6 or 7 games than 4 or 5. So we reduce that probability to a coin flip: 1/2. This gives us a 1/30 probability; a 3.33% chance. There’s a higher chance that you roll green in roulette. This one is not basketball but i predicted in the 80th minute of a Liverpool game that the only way they score is if the goalkeeper comes to try and score from a corner kick in added time because he will be completely unguarded. Right on cue, Allison Becker (no it's not a girls team) comes in 90+ minutes to the 16-yard box on a corner kick, is left completely unguarded and scores a striker-like header to win Liverpool the game just seconds later. My wife watched the match with me and just looked at me and asked if it was a recorded game even though she damn well knew it was live!
