Rick (Brendan Fraser) tries to stay one step ahead of a giant sand storm chasing his plane.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Loosely adapted from the classic 1932 horror film starring Boris Karloff, The Mummy is set in Egypt, where over 3,000 years ago the high priest Imhotep (played by Arnold Vosloo) was given the all-important assignment of preparing the recently dead for their journey into the afterlife. However, Imhotep made one terrible mistake - he became smitten with Anck-Su-Namun, the mistress of the Pharaoh himself. Driven mad by jealousy and love, Imhotep murdered the Pharaoh, and his punishment was to be buried alive and suffer the torment of an eternal life in his wretched tomb. In 1925, a band of adventurers seeking fame and fortune - led by Rick O'Connel (Brendan Fraser), an American expatriate who has joined the foreign legion, and Evelyn Carnarvon (Rachel Weisz), an amateur archeologist - find a previously unknown burial site in Egypt. The team starts to dig, hoping to find lost riches, but instead they disturb the tomb of Imhotep, and soon the cursed priest rises from his grave to wreck vengeance on humanity. The Mummy was written and directed by Stephen Sommers, whose previous cinematic journeys into the past include The Jungle Book and The Adventures Of Huck Finn.

I notice they do that with the pre-watershed version of The Mummy when they air it on TV, they always show Winston being dead and falling into the quicksand as a funeral-esque thing, but never that. I also love the bit that wasn't shown in this - "Hey, are you alright? Do I bloody look alright!" then O'Connell whistles to the Medjai and says "How ya doin!" whilst the Medjai has a smile on his face.

Imhotep is more of a threat too, a single water wall would completely wipe out Hogwarts and on top of that he's immortal so the killing curse that Voldemort loves using wouldn't even work on Imhotep, only the gold book of the living can render Imhotep mortal

God damn the score to this film is AMAZING! Sure Winston had maybe 4 minutes of actual screen time, and was a bit of a drunk....but he put himself in harm's way for nothing more than a promise of one more shot at action, a daring rescue, and to fly his pride and joy across the desert one final time....AND THE SCORE REFLECTS THAT! That little motif when the plane slides in is so simple, quick...but it just hits home ya know? Jerry Goldsmith is a genius! I know its not in the clip but go search it ;)

Wow, I just love this movie! The action- the adventure- the special effects- the story line - the settings- and the actors who are in this movie are sooooo spectacular!!!!!! This is my favorite movie since I was 6 or 7 years old when this came out.

It was great. Could have been better though. Don't get me wrong, it is still great and I do enjoy it, but I think they could have done Evelyn better. One moment she's a serious archeologist, the next she's a comic relief. I don't see the need of her being one when her brother us already a comic relief. It was so annoying with her character constantly switching between the two. I don't blame her, she did both roles well, it was the directors/writers who did her dirty, but I think she could have been better if she did one of the two. Either serious archeologist or comic relief.
