Interesting thing about Wadatsumi.. The umibozo of legend looks exactly like those shadows. They are giant yokai (spirits) that live in the oceans and appear as a towering black/dark figure, sometimes with glowing eyes, and they supposedly bring treacherous weather to calm seas. They are often seen in calm but foggy or dark weather and churn up the sea... Interesting. Perhaps Wadatsumi is a young or small Umibozo? He talks like a baby, right? Maybe he actually is one. Maybe he got lost. Perhaps we were seeing his family just mosying around looking for him. Pretty interesting. Maybe worth a looksie.

I really would LOVE to see an arc or saga based around some lovecraftian lore, even if it wasn't cthulhu. lovecraft has so many more interesting stories and mythos than just cthulhu. oh my god one piece + lovecraft mythos=my heaven.

I think the monster is a hydra. More than one head looking like a pillar and a sea monster. It adds up, as this is from greek and roman mithology and Oda takes inspiration from them already. If it was it would be insane as the lake where the hydra lived (the hydra was killed by hercules) was one of the entrances to the underworld. It fits the theme of the triangle being even more misterious and also relates to thriller bark being a ship full of undead, basically people who got out of the underwolrd or can’t enter it. Brook, the only known character to come back to life is also found in the florian triangle. The place is all related to death and resurrection so i think that there is an entrance to the “hell” of one piece or the origin of the devil fruits, as hell is the devil’s home.

in all seriousness this might be a region of the sea that the sea kings might consider to be a graveyard for them. like when the eldest of sea kings sense that they are nearing their end, they make their way to this patch of sea to die. a lot like the recent mh game. so these figures could be elderly sea kings that have lived and grown to their pinnacle size and they're there because they realize they're going to die soon.

Tekking it's not Godzilla or Cthulu they have body structures that don't match the shadows the only things that can be closed to those things are most likely "Umi Bozu" The Umi Bozu are from Japanese Mythology they are these giant shadow human water monsters that either take the shape of black demonic blobs or a massive human with hands but squid tentacles for feet they can control water which explains the missing ships and they come in many different forms ones with hair, ones of pure darkness, ones more human-like.

I really think we are never really going to see a answer to this mystery, I think it was just Oda's way of saying " oooooh, spooky mystery about Florian Triangle still is and will always be alive ". Like a Scooby Doo moment, after they discovered the lake monster was just oldman Geroge trying to scare people away of the lake area to keep all the land to himself and invest in real estate, and then as Mystery Machine is heading away towards the horizon to their next adventure the camera moves and focus on the lake and shows a massive monster silhoutte emerging and diving into the lake to show that there actually was a monster there all along. And also I dont know if it was only me but besides classic horror movies and Michael Jackson ,etc, Thriller Bark reminded me a lot of Scooby Doo, that obviously fits with the horror theme and the cartoony, Hanna Barbera-esque moments that actually are present in all One Piece if you actually think about it.

@@jomelsonmanese1519 yeah it has some resemblance and the fact that Thriller Bark itself got swept by its current could be the indication that it might be a living "island" that causes the fog itself (zunisha causes the flood on mokomo dukedom, which was actually just a spray to its own back; and fog is always goes around it)

The thriller bark island problem ...i can think of two explanations: 1)the "island" was "made" later in paradise 2)maybe the island was sent up using a knock up stream and it went past white/white white sea...fell down around thriller bark (maybe because of the florian triangle monsters) and was later inhabited by moriah

just want to say that in recent times the red eyes are the highlightings of conquerors haki and if memory serves i remember the straw hats mention an earie pressence or pressure coming from that area despite them not actually seeing the tall creatures shadows and deciding to go the other way, dont quote me on that though. I LOVED that idea that those things were like "beyond the characters", like they're not necessarily necessary to surpass since they might not be fighters, they just kinda... exist. One person tries to fight them, it pisses them off and armageddon starts because of the tsunamis caused by them just rising from the ocean. Or they're just so untouchable that they won't even notice 4 Yonkos trying to damage them. But then again, they'd have to be like, just creatures that exist just like regular animals or something.

I didnt think of this until you mentioned the red line being destroyed. What if the destruction of Fishman Island is a result of Mariejois(and the chunk of the red line where it stands) being destroyed. Fishman Island is in an underwater cave after all.

That’s clearly where Oda is going with it. It’ll likely be after the fishmen move up to the surface after reverie, and by EOS Luffy will destroy mariejois causing the red line to destroy what used to be fishman island

To answer your question Tekkin, Thriller Bark was probably taken over the red line by the World Government. Morria was a Warlord so him asking the WG for a favor would be possible. That or Morria had a regular ship, got beat by Kaido then sailed back and BUILT the island section of Thriller Bark.

People Cross Red Line trough Mariejoa ... It was stated that people Abandon Thier current ship and take a new ship on other side...So taking an Island sized ship is impossible

These things not being explained doesn't necessarily mean Oda forgot. Maybe these things were never meant to be explained in the first place. Maybe their only purpose is to keep the feeling of ominous mystery of the Florian Triangle alive. We all know that as soon as everything is explained about a mystery, it becomes totally boring and not intriguing ever again, so maybe Oda showed these things to keep the Florian Triangle mysterious and something excitingly unknown to us, the viewers, forever.

He starts explaining that he wants the florian triangle monster to be unstoppable even to the likes of like kaido or whitebeard and it made me remember when the straw hats saw these HUMONGOUS monsters then they freak out and sail to jaya later to realize it was just the shadows of the shandorians in the clouds BIG OOF so I really hope it’s some big boi monster

If there are any horrors beyond human comprehension in OP it’s probably the super weapons. If you know about them, knowing what they could do and knowing if any volatile person gets their hands on then like crocodile or the WG the whole world could end

Tekking this is crazy, I watched Rogers video about the top 8 mysteries in One Piece yesterday and I immediately thought about the Florian Triangle shadows and how fucked up that was, still gives me goosebumps when I think of it... InfinityRage yes,I would highly recommended The color out of space, it’s probably one of his best and the call of Cthullu is a very good one and I believe there is an audiobook version of both on the internet

The world of One Piece is so full of unknowns I wonder if all the mysteries will be solved. One question I have is a ship goes to reverse mountain to enter the grand line, sails to the red line [going over or under] and than sails the other half of the grand line. But how does it get out? Does it cross the calm belts? Do normal ships even stand a chance of making it to the end to even care about an exit?

18:10 The most likely scenario is there is a big secret hole underneath the west blue's side of the red mountain kind of like the way people travel from paradise to new world and only moriya knew about it and use that hole to move the island to paradise. The place thriller bark is located is near red mountain so that makes sense in my headcannon

Since horror is thriller bark's theme and we've seen references to different horror movies, these creatures are probably referencing Lovecraft since he's the godfather of horror and must be mentioned

Thriller bark was not always what you saw in the manga. It was made as such once it was in paradise. Maybe some ship wrights from water 7 are behind this. We don't know how old thriller bark really is.

Let's not forget that Thriller Bark is basically The Nightmare Before Christmas Oda Version. In fact that movie is one of Oda's favorite and Brook is a singing skeleton and Cindri is basically Sally.

Well, the way Moria must have gotten his ship must be either A: He started an island ship after he got rehkt by Kaido, then made thriller bark in paradise or B: His devil fruit or someone else's devil fruit granted him a way to teleport or cross over the red line or C: He passed his giant island over an even more giant island: Fishman island, which he can totally do considering his (former) warlord status.

I've been asking what the shadows in florian triangle for YEARS now, I rewatched one piece a few times and re-read majority of it. Scoured forums and discussion boards trying to find an actual answer to what they might be. I remember Oda was asked about them at one point but he never really answered what they were. I think he said he'd get to explaining it in a future arc.. Which never happened :|

their is only 2 explaination on how the island ship got to paridise morda became a warlord in the west blue and asked a request by the marines to move his ship up and over the redline or mordia broke the ship apart in the west blue and brought it to pardise and rebuilded in paradise in the flora tringle

2:39 she's probably a reference to Frankenhooker (at least I hope so). If you haven't seen it, go watch it. It's so stupidly bad that it's amazing. Even Bill Murray said that "if you ever go watch one movie this year, make it Frankenhooker" when it was released in theatres, so you get a good idea of what kind of 'masterpiece' this film is.
