Sifu Chan is so skillful, knowledgeable and above all, well-spoken. I deem it an honor 'n privilege to be exposed to his philosophical talks and very effective wing chun classes. So I respectfully urge Sifu Chan to keep up the good work and keep sending us new videos. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

interesting topic u brought up. in our lineage 彿山 Wing Chun, chi gung is an integral part of it. in fact, we learn chi gung before learning the forms. well, someone might ask what does chi gung have to do with anything? well, it has to do with anything in wing chun, because all your stamina, explosive power, flexibility are all from the practice of 腎氣歸源。腎氣歸源 has 2 parts. the first part is for health and well-being of your body. the second part is for kung fu. not too many people know about this part.

May I ask, whether you practice Taiji Quan? And if you do, could you make a video explaining the differences and similarities between Taiji Quan and Wing Chun? As a 2 year's practitioner of Taiji Quan, who is looking to master the art, I feel that as I am not from the cultural background, there is a lot of knowledge I don't have, which may help me on my journey to becoming better at the art itself. Thanks in advance. Keep doing, what you do. Very inspirational and educative channel, you've been growing here.

To me from what i have learned & understood from my Martial arts journey, Wing Chun can be Classified as a NEIGONG system which will certainly help us to develop our JING, QI & SHEN thru diligent training.. Siu Nim Tau Section 2, The Saam Pai Fu / three bows to buddha / the Taan, Huen, Wu session other than building the Proper Body structure & alignment also helps to improve our Qi flow when coupled with proper breathing & Mindfulness

Both Wai Dan & Nei Dan could be performed with SLT. It's knowing what is occurring & the general principles that count. Wai Dan could theoretically be performed with any type of movement.

Any movement can be used to develop neigong. The assumption that a certain form can provide you with neigong is incorrect. It's not the movement that Is essential, but the quality in which the move is performed. Sure there are moves that suites more than others. Especially in the beginning. But as long as your mind anticipates certain moves contain the way of neigong, than you haven't really grasped neigong yet. As said above. The move is just a helping tool, the quality how you perform the move makes it neigong or not.

Like to see some deliberation given to alternate theories for a Recovery period after a MAP session at a dojang. I was doing duck walks around the dojang perimeter with no water or min. water intake. Thirst can be an issue with *duck* walks. Shortly afterwards, I felt recovery was an issue for me. Also, wtheck is a Deer Temple of Shintoism or Saoism?

While I agree that in principle you are correct, SLT CAN be qi gong. Take for instance Da Mo's Yi Jin Jing & the way it is played, those same principles can be applied to the SLT form. It would have to be performed very slowly & the form itself would probably take an hour & a half to perform but it could be turned into a qi gong form. Here is an example, In Da Mo's YJJ, the movements are imagined while you hold the position in a relaxed position, or you put the slightest movement into it if you need to. The point is that you need to FEEL the movement. This exact principle can be used for all movements in SLT. Pick up a copy of QiGong for Health & Martial Arts by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming & The Root of Chinese QiGong by the same author. He is very well respected & his works are scholarly.

Dr. Yang Jwing Ming is an Awesome MA teacher for sure. By the way, in Wing Chun's SNT form, the First section ie, the Saam Pai Fut / three bows to buddha has to b done with more Mindfulness & if coupled with Proper breath it turns into a Qigong as well.. By the way i used to incorporate the Concept of Strings too that we train in the Shaolin Neigong system called, YAN SHOU GONG A, which even more helps in proper YI coupled with rising of Jing from the ground. This all depends on the pracritioner as the analogy goes a knife van b used to cut vegetables, same knife can b used to kill

Interesting. I first heard of chikung in my wing Chun classes, and we did once in a while in a rather external way, as an exercise/stretch. My previous sifu retired and I started training online with sifu Nima King (CST lineage) and he always mentions how CST could expand the joints, and he allegedly never have trained chikung. Just found interesting how they got similar results from different starting points. It would be very nice if you ever meet sifu Nima King and made a video together. You both are the ones I like the most on KZfaq.

The master that taught me was a graded Master under William Cheung / he was 9th Dan goju karate before that...and the he met master YP Dong. I think that changed his life. Because that brought Yi chuan into his mix . He became master of Yi chuan. So he used to teach us every other day yi chuan (standing) and then wing chun. Was the resting art but we a whole lot of other arts too. But he always wanted us standing. Up an hr per day. Not everybody did it..but that's what he wanted us to do. So wing chun form IS NOT chi Gung. I agree.

A punch and a kick might be basic, doesn’t mean it’s not important. I only say that because all the basic stuff you mentioned in qigong it seemed like I’ve had some exposure to it. I have no idea where my skill set ranks compared to another qigong practitioner since all of it is internal exploration. All I know is I feel more mind body connection, more calm, less memory lol less worry. Umm but ya no seeing if auras or anything yet. The mind body connection can be a bit weird. I think it’s easier to relax areas by intent but also easier to mirror things sensationally. Kinda strange

I'm not sure I agree completely with Adam here about his statements on chi gong. Although the practices he mentioned are certainly contained within chi gong he made it sound as if they are simple. They are not. Bone breathing, fascia development etc BECOME advanced practices as you "master" them. It's like Wing Chun, ultimately it's mastery of the basics that pushes you forward into the system. Sure there's always more advanced material, but it starts to become more and more about the mind and it's influence on the energy bodies. Put it this way, plenty of WC practioners consider the system to be the "wrong" way round withe the most important and "advanced" practices at the front. Hence the common error of rushing through the system to the more (again) "advanced" practices. Still, great vid

True story. This. All of this. (except the Tennis / Basketball analogy, lol. Perhaps a better analogy: "if you become a great underwater swimmer, you'll automatically be a great sprint swimmer and a great long distance swimmer - because it all takes place in the Ocean" - NO! We have to train all disciplines. Fuck "sports". Scholar, Healer, and Fighter.)

㊙️3:06 Hi Adam.. Son Tsi over at #viperjkd “We agree. You know.. it’s funny. I saw a video on DOMINIC IZZOS page and Chris was coming at you with a GAANG SAO or what looked like a QUAN to me. I didn’t like the hand placement. That was a total of maybe ONE TIME, 😂where I saw something suspect or possibly dangerous to try. That doesn’t mean shh.. it’s a free country. Plus.. I support you constantly. I was just having a conversation. This guy.. DOMINIC. Who I tune in and support as well, says “YOU JKD GUYS DONT KNOW YOUR WING CHUN that was a GAANG SAO not a QUAN SAO and because Chris was blocking your shot it played out that way. Well, anyways... he made me feel like shit because I didn’t like the one move. Bad decision because I unsubscribed. I’m not gonna waist my good knowledge taking time to explain JKD and how it still is WING CHUN to have him be so rude. He likes your stuff. But be aware that he tries to control everything. 💥😉💯I stop by like three days a week. 🐉💯😎

I'm not seeing the difference. Opening/closing the joints and tissues, rooting, controlled breathing, tapping into fascia and relaxing the organs. It's all there, both in the form and the basic strikes. The basic punch works by opening and closing joints rather than throwing the arm, Wing Chun has many internal elements and all internal styles have qigong forms for this exact purpose. Even if its not the mainstream understanding it should be. Not everything is qigong but everything can be if done a certain way. Tai chi uses all these things and if you take away the stance and centerline theory, the differences between tai chi and Wing Chun principles are minimal at best.

@@philosopher8052 He frames qigong as medical qigong...then talks about how people confuse qigong for martial arts...then he goes on to talk about wing chun ONLY for it's martial applications. Adam presents PARTS of history that most people don't know but draws his own conclusions and selectively uses examples to make it seem like he is correct.

This is so blatantly a straw man discussion! Is standing still "Qigong"? Not necessarily, but standing still is a significant external aspect of a lot of Qigong practices. Wing Chun Kuen is a system of boxing reputedly based upon the Dhyana practices that the "Foreign Barbarian" (Tamo) seeded in Shaolin Temple in an attempt to revive the original teaching of the Scythian Sage (Siddhartha). The Question is does Wing Chun Kuen utilize Heigong/Qigong in its training?
