As someone who was in that industry. I have horror stories. Friends died, some got addicted to hard drugs because the amount of money they needed to survive in the city, they would be paid to drugs with people.

I don't trust anything that comes from Mia's mouth. She tried going into politics and claimed she only made 2 videos and she was tricked into it, but she already did like 50 videos, which came out she had very much say in. She continues to lie about a lot of things.

4:43 Oh, I KNOW it is. CornHub absolutely refuses to take down videos of teenage girls being raped, even if the victim herself comes forward and asks for their removal. One girl had tried to get the video of her rape taken down over the course of months, and SOMEONE eventually murdered the kitten she’d gotten for emotional support and left it hanging for her to find as a warning. Some people can be real sick when it comes to this stuff

Since they've taken down all non-verified user vids, it probably has more to do with licensing and the producers of the vids than the Hub itself. Kinda annoying that the hub seems to get the brunt of the heat the industry as a whole deserves

I'm pretty sure she did it in the US where there exists Freedom of Religion. It is the extremist whackos, from not only her nation of birth, but from all over that area of the world who wanted her killed for basically dressing as the cultural-opposite to the Christian Housewife.. And no, you do not hear about Crusader Knights threatening to behead the actresses behind the actual nun content on the Hub. The issue is the level of extremism in that religion. Christians stopped killing each-other over semantics 500 years ago. Islam is still in that spot in their religion today.

@@ravenward626 it is, and in fact you can argue that the adult film industry among others outright preys on people in more vulnerable positions. not to come from too out of left field w this, but one has to consider regardless of their feelings on it that capitalism is basically just socially enforced coercion (labor, or suffer due to the rules laid out). since many people who struggle to keep up with capitalism's demands tend to also be those with neurodivergence or mental illnesses, industries like the adult film industry will either intentionally prey on these people who easily fall through the cracks by promising them better financial stability, or do so without caring about the greater implication of these actions so long as they don't get in trouble for them - which they often don't for a long time, if ever, since mentally ill people tend to have a harder time seeking help if no one actively has their back. this is before you even get into the vulnerable positions emotionally or otherwise that sex as a topic and act tends to put people in. unless you get rid of the underlying coercion, it's impossible to tell if anyone would do what they do if not for a financial incentive unless they admit otherwise. which makes the intersection of sex and social structure really, really rough - we all agree sex shouldn't be something one is coerced into, but a job is by it's nature is part of a system of coercion, and someone with strong financial and/or social standing is harder to coerce. tldr, yes, due to the social factors at play it usually is disenfranchised people or people who lack social support who go into the adult film industry. you can argue that like with many other jobs that are considered quite "undesirable" by society, the only people generally taking the job don't have many options that they see as viable for themselves with the occasional person who's actually just really passionate about it. factors like this are also why sex trafficking etc ends up hitting minority communities so bad.

Just like I don’t want to see hard working men breaking their bodies down and sending themselves to an early grave via blue collar work (like my dad did, may he rest in peace), I don’t want to see hurt and broken women exploited and manipulated into an industry that cares only about her as a body and values nothing else about her. EVERYONE is going to the extremes to try and make money in this stupidly hyper inflated economy, and they’re quite literally dying just trying to make money for survival. This is NOT an acceptable means for the working class to get by.
@HavianEla

WOAH is it genuinely depressing seeing people mock these women. I’d be willing to bet the majority of them were victims of chronic sexual abuse as children. I get not approving of their work, I’m not a fan of it, but these are human beings! Don’t you want to see them to better? Too many of you creeps make it very apparent you’d spit on a sex worker in person, but won’t hesitate to watch their work. If you do that - you’re a filthy hypocrite who really isn’t any better than anyone else, so maybe knock yourself down a peg? You aren’t worth more than anyone else, even a sex worker, believe it or not.

it wasnt inflated back then and the culture that have these messed up line of work available is the problem. Not just america but every country that indirectly legitimizes this sort of media. whether its straight up corn or just softcore stuff in the cinemas. Its a fked up culture that many in the west are not willing to admit that it is fked. Obviously "corn" is fked up but the country that makes it a legit business is the actual problem, illegal stuff happens in every country and you cant control every human but the one that makes it legit is next level fked up. Selling this fked up culture to the entire world and shaming those that dont do it is beyond disgusting. also survival is not an excuse. Dont sugarcoat or romanticize a fked up culture like this

i agree but even now , it is better conditions than our parents and grandparents lived with. We do need to balance the wealth versus income problems from shutdowns. We have an easier life working longer doing more complicated things than menial labour. I think corn could be considered labour without issue. Higher mental load , lower physical load for some. For others, the weather changes make the physical load harder. Things that appear easy from the onlooker could be much harder than presented.

I think the point he was making was, many women decide it would be worth it to do this job if they could make a lot of money doing it; however, a lot of those women end up being unable to make the amount of money they thought they would, so in the end it _wasn't_ worth it for them. So on the other side, they still have no prospects, they still have no money, and now they _also_ have these videos following them for the rest of their lives. On the other hand, if they end up making the amount of money they originally thought, they might think it was worth it. It's a job that can make life pretty easy if you succeed, but it's almost guaranteed to make it more difficult if you don't.

Forgive me for having such a long comment the video, you reacted to really pissed me off as a male performer in the industry myself. There are so many things I can say that just anger me about that video not your coverage of it. First off that video is said with an incredible amount of one-sided bias. It’s frustrating if they even remotely got rid of some of it, it would’ve been a bit better video. And to not even reference the most recent ones that have happened in the past few months is kind of bullshit to me. If you’re going to mention the self deletions and all that stuff, maybe have a section that goes over it collectively as a group Or maybe the fact that he brings a pay that he doesn’t reference because of that they have to go and do literal escorting just to stay above There are so many things they did not reference or cover, and they just blamed the sites as a general is why I’m so pissed off. If by any chance you want to discuss further, I would be more than happy too

Places aren't monolithic. There are people who have luxurious lives in the global south, but there are people in the US who live worse than the averages in those places too. @@ravenward626 First of all, I don't think you know what monolithic means, or atleast, are using it very wrong. Second of all, even the average destitute homeless in a place like the US have an equal or higher standard of living than the average citizen of many of those countries. Third, she could have found work in utah that wasn't sex work, though it likely would not pay as much, especially with no experience. She chose to go into sex work either knowing the consequences or being stupid enough to not think it through. I admit, especially this past year or two, finding work has been harder than it has been for a while, but if you're so desperate that you turn to sex work for a few years, at best, of ok money while ruining most of your future prospects in employment, friendships, and relationships, go for it, I guess.

@@EriaAri Hi EriaAri, I'll respect your position, but know that I think your belief in American exceptionalism is blinding you to the world around you. But I do hope that you don't find yourself vulnerable to exploitation due to a precarious financial position. I'll also admit that America is great if you're rich, an absolute playground. But if your head starts to dip below the cost of living financially you might start to drown. Then choices like which bills to pay have to be made. Check in with some of the "Gen Z" kids, you may find more than a few who are less than jazzed at their future prospects. I wish you and all your neighbors, be they homeless, sex workers, baristas, cashiers, and coal miners, I wish them all good luck.

You also have an extremely skewed view of what life is like. For almost all people capable of working, you would never end up homeless. You can downgrade your situation pretty much, take a bus ride to somewhere that's cheaper to live than your current circumstances. There's a million ways out of destitute situations. Now, that means the people who end up homeless are in serious trouble, mostly mentally. So, anyone who made a career in porn, ABSOLUTELY had the capacity to work any number of minimum wage job, while living somewhere that's a hole in the wall for a year or two, until some forward paying investments could be made. It isn't new, that the younger generation is doom and gloom about their future prospects, it's happened literally every single time. Reality is that the amount of people buying houses is actually INCREASING with each newer generation, in step with the increasing compensation for IT work. The nature of working, is just simply the fact that other than government and IT positions don't have a tremendous amount of wiggle room in terms of promotions and wage increases, that's why people who choose to go down a path of either independence, or liberal arts is gonna struggle through life, always. It's not JUST because you have a college degree in feminist studies, that companies are groveling and begging for you to work for them. You'd be better off than someone with nothing but a high school diploma, but working experience counts a lot towards your hirability. An irrelevant degree will lose out to focused working experience within a field, but a relevant degree makes you a lot more attractive as a prospect. There are parts of the US, especially big cities or abandoned towns that literally look worse off than actual african tribes, but the amount of people living like that is absolutely tiny. Anyone who wasn't trafficked, and chose to do porn ABSOLUTELY had a choice, and were either naive or too hardheaded to think about the known consequences of said choice.

This is why rule34 is better. Sure there exists some pretty fucked up things on the internet and addiction due to quantity is a real problem but at least real people aren't being ran through into oblivion, OD-ing, and or getting abused. Only ones mental health and maybe the artist overworking themselves for more money. Furthermore, real porn is almost never believable to me as their acting tends to suck a lot of the time so there tends to be little to no plot among other things.

Cops don't give a shit about them either, and are very slow to go looking for them when something happens or investigating a murder. Long Island Serial Killer targeted escort girls. When their families reported them missing in one case a cop told the sister of the victim that she(the victim) "didn't care about her, didn't care about anyone and just left" and in another, once they found out what the girl was doing they said "we're not going to look for someone like her".

Theory: Internet porn availability paradox. Internet porn makes it harder to find good porn. Due to the volume and ease at which one can get into internet porn, just anyone can star in internet porn. Just anyone does not look good in porn. Just anyone has to do kinkier and kinkier shit to stand out. Kinkier and kinkier shit does not make them look any better in porn, and decreases the overall quality more and more. Due to the volume of people that don't look good in porn trying to stand out, finding actual quality porn gets harder to find the more readily available internet porn is.

The sex industry breaks and messes you up mentally and physically. A lot of young Pstars are already either mentally unstable, weak mental fortitude, gullible, or weak from worldly pressure. These type of people will crumble in the sex industry, especially when they try to leave the industry to only face reality (even more lack of jobs than before, wasted time as no other skills but sex were learned, social stigma). This is a recipe to disaster.

I watch porn enough to recognize a lot of these women and though a lot of these stories are sad it's really no different than any other entertainment industry, you can make a video of stories about movie/TV stars(the horror stories about what happens to child actors alone could be enough for a series of videos), singers, and athletes and find very similar stories about dozens who have had their lives turned upside down by drug abuse (Drew Barrymore and Robert Downey Jr), those who have hit rock bottom and turn to crime (look at the two oldest child actors of the classic show Different Strokes), there are also many who have end up homeless wandering the streets, athletes who have taken their own lives, but again just like any other entertainment industry with it's horror stories there are just as many who are living their best lives and are thriving.

If a pornstar was murdered on camera, no one will care. They'll literally find someone else to goon too. Its sad how we can devalue people to that extreme. Porn is incredibly self destructive and addictive and its not to be taken lightly.

One thing most people don't realize is that one thing animators, pr0n actors and fashion models have in common is that the companies they work for are actively abusing them, and their employers (along with society) are actively blaming the victims and pretending that the glamor makes up for the abuse. Wht most don't realise is that the "glamor" is LITERALLY PART OF THE ABUSE, whoch is a fact that most employers in these fields have tried to suppress for the longest time. I've met idiots who unironically act as though modern labor laws don't exist and claim that people in the above mentionwd professions "chose to be abused when they took the job" because "if it's in the contract then it's not abuse"... Even though the mindset thT such people have had been debunked over a century ago, a fact that the industries in question have yet to realize. Hell, throughout all of human history, the only thing to change about the Oldest Profession is "what medicine exists" and whether or not a given country banned it. It is still just as barbaric, abusive and unhealthy for its employers as when it was invented. And that is deeply fucked up on so many levels that you'd have an easier time counting the grains of sand in a desert than you would counting the minimum number of changes that would need to happen in that profession to make it the way studios have made it out to be.

I’ll give you an example: many porn editors have an EXTREMELY difficult time getting turned on at all because their brain is constantly being sent contradicting sexual signals while editing a video. Oftentimes they’re editing out panic attacks because somebody doesn’t want to participate, but they’re forced to get through it for a couple grand. The begging to end it, tears, and anxiety attacks are edited out, but they were there. You just will never see it. That’s ONE example, though I will stress that not the entirety of adult entertainment is like that.

I feel like this is far more complex than a lot of people treat it as. This feels a bit like the old 'video games cause mass shootings' argument. Just like video games, porn is at most harmful as a catalyst. Many of the issues that plague the sex industry also affect the overall entertainment industry. Being treated as a commodity, losing your privacy and being unable to live a normal life. How many TV stars, movies stars or rock stars have fallen into the same traps and died tragically as a result? The problem isn't porn. The problem is society's attitude towards sex workers. We're unable to accept them as part of our normal society which just makes the trap worse. Any addictions or abuse will go untreated as there isn't a sufficient support system. Porn can be healthy or it can be unhealthy. The difference comes down to education, regulation and enhancing worker's rights. After all, if starring in a movie or hosting a KZfaq channel means you have a job, so does being a sex worker. It's fine if someone personally feels that porn is disgusting, but that doesn't mean pornstars just 'deserve' whatever happens to them.

However, if you're talking about people who want to transition from a career in porn to a more mainstream one, but run into roadblocks based solely off of their reputation as porn stars, that's bullshit. If you're talking about sex workers who have a hard time getting bank accounts because the banks don't want that association, that should be illegal. If anyone says that sex workers deserve abuse, ostracism, or death, those people can go f$%k themselves. I'm not saying that's you, but I just finished saying it's complex, and you responded with the same thoughtless tagline I see all the time. Again, it's fine not to like porn, but sex workers are still people.

@@hugopereira4212 There's nothing inherently wrong with being a sex worker. Everyone should have the right to express themselves how they choose to as long as nobody is getting hurt and everyone involved is a consenting adult. To be clear, I'm not trying to ignore issues like sex trafficking, drug abuse, exploitation, etc. Those are forms of corruption that can appear within the industry. That does not make selling sexual acts/products bad. Whatever issues we may or may not have with what they choose to do with their own bodies does not give us the right to treat them as second class citizens.
