@@JerryDaPlatypus(tldr major difference is one changes with the moon the other is always a monster) Kinda sorta except it's a permanent change from human to humanoid monster. Not to deep dive too hard but in most legends you become a wendigo when you eat human flesh, afterwards your body twists and shifts into a spooky long limbed ever hungry monster that hunts down anything that moves until it's killed. In other stories you can retain your intelligence but still have the endless hunger, it's more or less a direct supernatural punishment for symbolically giving up your humanity in the face of greed (if you put yourself above the rest of the tribe and eat members of the tribe you're greedy)

Back in 2016, a lot of far-right folks used to lie and say they were centrists. This ended in the fascist takeover of the NH Libertarian Party. That's probably what IPOS was talking about, but he seems to be unaware that fascism has no allegiance, and will only appeal to centrists when centrism is popular. Right now, many fascists seem to be going the opposite direction and attempting to sneak their views into far-left-style rhetoric, but that's just what I've seen and you should take that with a grain of salt.

IPOS is wrong about this and plenty, but the wendigo DID become a symbol of colonialism after white people colonized the land. The myth was certainly around before, but it gained new meaning after the Indian Wars. I'd recommend Storied's video on it. That's why Isaiah goes by "wendi-GOON" rather than "wendigo-something." It's called a portmanteau.

And personally, I think that says everything we need to know. I don't think people like this even care about whether someone is religious or not. They view everything in terms of power dynamics. So you can do whatever you want if you're not on top because you're "oppressed" and being part of the "oppressor" group (Aka, the dominant culture/ethnicity) makes you intrinsically bad, whether or not you have personally done anything wrong. That's why they support Muslims while denigrating Christians, despite them having similar values and a history of abuses stemming from those values. Ok first of all antifa is literally short for "anti fascist", so it quite literally is a way to say anti fascist lol. Second of all, antifa is a very disjointed group, and as a result people will sometimes be members of antifa and commit violent acts, which plenty of other members of antifa are strongly against. This doesn't excuse the violence that does occur, but to assume there's something wrong with antifa as a whole because of this is a very non nuanced stance

To be fair, people in his streams do it quite a bit. Regardless, people calling him that has no bearing on whether or not he's some kind of bad guy. As a Native American (Salinon from my mother and Apache from my dad) This guy (Not Nux) is pissing me off. The concept of the Wendigo was NOT invented by some “British guy”. It is basically a dark spirit that was believed to take you over if you consumed human flesh and turn you into a monster. But the idea was a metaphor for: Don’t give into dark temptations no matter how great they seem. Also these “anonymous natives” he mentions I think he is making them up, from what my elders told me it’s only bad luck to talk about a Skin-Walker. All of these guys arguments make him sound like a complete moron as Wendigoon is making valid points, we DO need to keep talking about our people as stories is all we have left, so this idiots: “That’s sounds like I have black friends.” Comeback just makes him sound allite….dont know if the word fits here. I sure hope other natives like me are giving him some hateful comments pointing out his BS.

I am not a Native American, so I can not, of course, speak to that folklore from experience. But, the same or similar occurs in my beliefs, too. I, many people around me, and some of my closest family are pagan. We have myths, although not identical to things like Wendigo and Skin-Walkers, we have things like Draugr, Fylgjur (also called Fetches), Trolls, Huldra, etc. These concepts only exist in modern context by word of mouth and written history, such as the Eddas and Hávamál. I wish more people would embrace and talk about these ideas and beliefs, especially when it comes to Native American beliefs and culture without worrying about "cultural appropriation", considering 99% of the the time "appropriation" these people talk about is really just cultural appreciation. My beliefs were very unfortunatly co-opted by the Nazis and modern neo-Nazis, my religious symbols can unfortunately not be removed from the hate they used to represent. The experience is not totally similar, as pagans nowadays are very far removed from past oppression, Native Americans not so much, unfortunately.
