I was a little bamboozled by the design changes, but I was mostly tuned in for the story, so they never really bothered me much, and like you, I got used to them very quickly. I never really saw them as separate shows; just this one was a time skip past BTAS. I will always have a special place in my heart for the original BTAS, but this is the one that did pretty much all the cross-overs I loved like the static shock ones, and the transition into Justice League. The storytelling didn't really change much, if at all, so in truth, I loved this just as much as the original.

Completely agree. This show was just as good as Batman The Animated Series in my opinion.

Honestly I don't consider it very distinct from Batman TAS. Growing up in this time period fellow children just called them both 'Batman'. This wasn't the case for the later Batman adaptations, although that might be entirely because of age. Your video does make it clear why the two of them need to be considered separate shows tho.

Yeah, if it weren't for the redsign, and some of the voice actors being recast, then this really is just Batman The Animated Series again.

It should be acknowleged that the whole Batman The Animated Series story isn't two shows Batman The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures. It's actually three shows. (No I'm not talking about Batman Beyond, that's Terrys story.) Many think Batman The Animated Series had two seasons, but in reality, Batman The Animated Series was one 65 episode season. This "Second season" of Batman T.A.S., is acutally a seperate series called The Adventures Of Batman And Robin, I am aware that Robins not in every episode of that season, but one he's in most of them, and two, Robins not in every issue of Batman And Robin Adventures, the non-cannon tie in comic to adventures of batman and robin. So overall, the BTAS saga goes like this, season 1, Batman The Animated Series, season 2, Adventures Of Batman And Robin, and season 3, The New Batman Advnetures.

Jason Tod is my least favorite Robin. It's his post Robin characterization that makes him a better character overall

Yeah, I agree. I should have said Tim Drake is my least favourite character out of the four than least favourite Robin.

Just babbling a bit: I'm glad you covered this. I had some merch growing up of both shows, but never really knew the difference, or really watched much of the new batman adventures. I think I probably found the sidekicks to be more 'in the way' than anything else. I know that marketing at the time kept trying to push kid characters for children to see themselves in, but that was always dumb to me. I'd rather see the adults that I wanted to grow into. 'Growing up' is... well... a bit boring of a story when its put into every single story. Despite how much I dislike the redesigns (other than the scarecrow) I can see 'why' joker would make sense. He was never my favorite as a kid, and I appreciate the originals creepyness and uglyness mire now that I'm an adult. As a kid, even if I didn't like the redesign, Joker was easier on the eyes and more palatable on the screen.

I also had some merch from this show despite never watching it as a kid. I had a Robin and Nightwing toy. Unfortunately, Robin never survived his run in with my grandparent's dog. I agree as well with the sidekicks. Batman is the main attraction and I do think sometimes the sidekicks got in the way, specifically Batgirl. Although, I do wish this show got more seasons so we got more of Robin and Nightwing to better flesh them out. On the redesigns, I think the art style works quite well. I believe it's the same arty style used for Batman Beyond too. It's just that the characters seemed too stylised to me and in some cases too cartoonish, which might seem like an odd criticism for a cartoon.
