Yep! I did this recently. Walked away from a situationship because he wouldn’t commit and went NC. I wasn’t bluffing. I was done. He came back 5 mos later and I told him he doesn’t get a chance unless he commits. He said he was ready now for a relationship. I told him I needed 2 mos to decide after getting reacquainted and that after the end of those two months if we weren’t both committed, that was it for me. I’m still deciding if I’ll say yes even if he’s serious. I may say no. If he backs out, I will be blocking him and I will not desire to talk to him ever again. Oh, and I should mention he isn’t getting any sugar walls this time either. He knows what it’s like. So he doesn’t get to come back for assets. He’s being tested for sincerity. We shall see if he passes. He has one month left to convince me.

He came back and I wanted to observe a few things by not given all my energy. Only to realise that nothing has change.

He' right. In 2 cases. The guy won't even drive across town to see me, yet after I say I've had enough. He's in shock mode and moves to another state for another girl and soon comes the ring for another girl. Sometimes you have to be willing to walk away In both cases, if I would have taken the guy back and told him what a jerk he was-I would have been the girl with the ring. But yes, it's a negotiation.

I had this scenario a few months ago. He came back. I told him I’d only see him if he wanted a relationship and he agreed. We’ve been together now but I can’t shake the feeling that he only did it so he doesn’t lose me not because that’s what he really wanted. Thoughts?

I think that if a man and I broke up because he didn’t want to commit, and then he came back later, saying that he wanted to commit I probably would be skeptical. I probably wouldn’t be 100% in and there would be a significant period where he would need to prove himself before, I would go for it. That being said this has never actually happened to me. Most men seem to just self disqualify once they know that I’m serious about a commitment. And I don’t need to move in with someone right away or get married but I need some type of verbalization that there is a commitment between the two of us.
