One of the biggest controversies of the early 2000s was the leaked Paris Hilton tape that emerged just before the debut her show, The Simple Life. Although some have suspected throughout the years that it was deliberately released, the evidence tells a different story, and it's a much more complicated tale than many realize.

Paris isn't my cup 'o tea (I like a woman who can put me in an arm lock), but I respect the hell outta what she did after learning some things about her early life. A lot of people think that it must be easy being born into opulence. Not true. So good on her. As for her "friend" Ms. Kardashian, not so much... She is a little too narcissistic, but I think it's a family trait.
@rikkirikki4892
@rikkirikki4892 3 жыл бұрын
@@RogueBoyScout Yeah, I'm really here for these "full pictures" we're starting to get now of these "airhead celebs" from the early 2000s. Even Jessica Simpson's full story shocked me (thanks to the podcast "You're Wrong About" for that one). I definitely looked down on Paris when I was a tween/young teen in the 00s. Was really impressed to learn about her life and what she's doing lately, not to mention the fact that she fully *created* a path to fame that many, many others would try (and usually fail) to emulate up until this day, even if today's version is a little different with social media. It's one thing to copy, it's a whole other thing to take a scandal (and really a horrifying scandal if you hear her tell it, and I do personally believe her only because of how unprecedented and scary something like that was in those days) and make the career she did out of it.

Yes, the difference is Lewinski was going to be a political professional. Paris was never expected to have brains, nor did she deliver on that. As for her career succeeding? That's not her. It's the hundreds of people behind the scenes that you don't see.

wmascolina A genius is somebody with an exceptional talent or skill. What exceptional talent does Paris have? Using her fathers money to hire a group of lawyers and a PR team to spin her fuck-up into a positive light, isn’t a talent or a skill. A lot of actual geniuses die in relative obscurity because idiots love to idolise idiots. It’s not complicated. I’m not defending the narcissistic coke-fiend that made the tape either. @@trevorbaune8776 they are pretty horrible, actually. They are bass-heavy to the point of crushing all the mids until it sounds like half the song is being played on a fisher price keyboard. Genres like big band and trot suffer the most because of this. Raycons have the sonic profile of a bootleg 2000s Bose car door speaker. One can get a much better pair for just a few dollars more. @@numerum_bestia From what Paris has recently said, when she was 17, her parents did punish her by taking her credit cards and phones away but she rebelled and got sent to a boarding school. While there, she and 4 of her former classmates claim they’d got beaten, strangled, forcefully medicated, held down and got put into solitary confinement for up to 20hrs a day by faculty. Apparently whenever she’d try to tell her parents about the abuse, staff would take the phone or rip up the letters. Its hard to verify something 20 years later but if anything it makes her seem at least more sympathetic.

The part at the beginning where he tells us when someone in his acting class mentioned the "Paris Hilton secs tape" and he was like "who?" reminds me of this story my brother told me where everyone in his 4th-grade class was talking about how Chris Rock was at his school, and he didn't know who Chris Rock was. Turns out Chris Rock wasn't really there, it was just a medium-sized stone his science teacher named Chris Rock.

Paris Hilton was in Repo! the Genetic Opera, and that’s a great movie
3 жыл бұрын
I have for some time, taken your view, that the timeline strongly suggests that the tape was leaked without Paris Hilton's knowledge or consent. On the other hand, I may not think she's necessarily a maths genius, but she's smart as hell (probably at least qualifies for MENSA, if she hasn't applied), and she clearly knew how to use the odd timing of the leak to her own advantage. Plus, you gotta love how she's so self-aware of her public image, and can poke fun at it, that she went and gave a sincere audition for her role in _Repo! A Genetic Opera._ I have some serious respect for her.

Honestly looking at this situation and considering where she was at in her life at that age it really breaks my heart that they took advantage of her... I went to a program very similar to Provo Canyon school in when I got out at 18 years old I was so vulnerable, lost, and broken and I had many people take advantage of me and the weak state I was in just like they did her... When you leave a program like that you are susceptible to so many things including drug addiction and suicide but worst of all you have been completely broken down and are now extremely malleable because that's how they wanted you... So many of my friends have killed themselves having to deal with the trauma from what happened in those programs and the repercussions they left them with... These people should be ashamed of themselves they took advantage of a young girl when she was at her weakest point

I'm angry we didn't get more of her Repo: The Genetic Opera persona. She took the lumps that she couldn't sing and was trained so she could do her part in the movie. Honestly the movie would suffer without her. Every single person chosen for that film is so integral.
