Personally, I found that having that fear-driven approach just completely hindered my performance, and was probably the reason I got injured last year because of overtraining. Just making sure I recover well, eat well and train hard without overdoing it has yielded way better results for me. Great video, thank you for another reminder to stay away from that mindset.

Neeeeew to sprinting. What is the routine in terms of training that leaded you maximum results?

It’s a great feeling to appreciate each workout accomplished as opposed to over analyzing if it was good enough, hard enough etc. Awesome video. Helped me relax and take a breath, it’s all good.

Great point. Gratitude & appreciate probably fosters better gains than overanalyzing as well!

I'm 34 and just getting back into playing soccer. Your videos have been really helpful for me. Been doing explosive training, sprinting drills, once a week for the last year. Its been a hard journey. Last week I out ran a 21, 25 and 19 year old attacks for 45 minutes. One vs one sprinting to the ball. Couldn't have done it without your videos! Thank you so much coach!

That’s awesome!! Love to hear it. As you can see, consistency is more important than trying to do too much in a short time frame. There are inevitably going to be ups and downs, but long term the progress shows itself, as evidenced by your experience. Keep up the great work, thanks for watching 💪🏽

As a track and field coach, and having a kinesiology degree, I have had many athletes and acquaintances approach me for advice over the years. I have learned from experience that the people who will have success are the ones who will take the first thing I say and start trying it without any further ado. The people who want to talk about what they are "going to do", or ask me multiple questions, or tell me something negative about their situation are the ones who will get no where. I used to try my best to encourage them and gently correct their thinking. Three decades later, I have learned to cut these types off by about the third sentence, because I know they are wasting my time.

Thanks coach, I used to have a fear based mentality in a handful of sports and I always felt like I underperformed. Now I'm actually having fun and enjoying the process when I don't stress over the little details. Thanks a lot coach, keep spreading the message

Thank you so very much, Cody. I know it was God working through this KZfaq algorithm for me to come across your video at this moment. I spoke with my track Coach concerning the program he had me on with my team. My goals differ from my entire team, and I was worried that my performance in my upcoming indoor season would be poor based on my current training. His words and your advice have given me the confidence and strength to trust in my body and my accumulated experiences. Many thanks again, Cody!

How should I train my 10 yr old son for sprinting fast? Other than spring couple time a week, how do I implement heavy lifting or should I stay away from him doin weights?
@KX5KatАй бұрын
Regardless of your age or level, what’s the worst thing that can happen if you sprint regularly? You get faster.

Hey man, Just found your channel. Such solid content. 38 years old. Still active, and working on getting my athletic body back over this last year. My focus right now is vertical jump. Was curious about your thoughts on strength to bodyweight ratios. Have you found a “sweet spot” for how strong is strong enough? I.e on a squat, 1.5 x BW for a 1RPM. Cheers and keep up the great work.
@Mangersainement7 ай бұрын
You dont listen the video.
@26Track6 ай бұрын
Varies from person. Consistently track your vertical jumps and when you get stronger see how it affects your jumps. Example you start getting stronger then 2x bw and it tapers down, maybe focus on power instead of strength. Hope this helps

Do you think that doing 10m flys only will give me good results or should i also incorporate 60m block starts and similar

Hey homie, what would you say are the pros and cons of doing tempo runs on field turf vs grass?
@ATHLETE.X7 ай бұрын
Turf is nice because it’s a consistent surface without holes or bumps. Sometimes grass is softer, which is good if you want to challenge the muscles more (you get less bounce through the tendons), but it’s hard for me to find good quality grass these days & I don’t want to roll an ankle!
@gothops26327 ай бұрын
@ATHLETE.X Haha, thanks man. I'm in the same boat with 2 dodgy ankles!

You mentioned sprinting 2-3 times a week. How would the rest days go and would you have to workout on the same days?
@amirb27532 ай бұрын
If you haven't found an answer, rest days can vary, walking, light jogs, rolling out, etc. And working out after each sprint day is recommended.
