I'm not a stickler for dress codes, but the school is not obliged to provide a weight room. If dressing a certain way is the price of using a luxurious gym for free, you might as well put up with it. When I was in school, they just gave us a basketball, that was it.

Evidently, schools no longer have dress codes or other rules about students' appearances. Shorts? Low-cut shirts? Flip-flops? Heavy metal T-shirts? Bellies showing? Facial hair and long hair on guys? Shorts? Jeans? You can call me old-fashioned, but none of these things were allowed at my high school. The girls weren't even allowed to wear slacks, except on Fridays. If boys wore T-shirts, there could be no writing on them. The length of girls' skirts was monitored. The guys couldn't wear hair longer than touching their collar, and facial hair was never allowed. Flip-flops were outlawed. If you violated any of these "fashion" standards, the school would send you home to "fix" it. I agree with this principal that uniforms are the way to go.

@unclesoflaugh There are some people who just can't hack the sports teams for various reasons who would like more muscles. I spent quite a bit of time in the machine room in college. College kids tended to blow off steam by horsing around in the halls, and I had one guy who thought I was kind of fat (true) but he ended out regretting it.... "DAMN, HIS LEGS ARE STRONG!"
