@@boredianz that’s ridiculous. The iron boy jr. namesake is just that, a namesake. We call him that because he owes Tony everything and we rarely if ever get to see Peter Parker’s ingenuity like we did in the Webb or Raimi films. He also spends an inordinate amount of time sucking up to Stark, which directly contradicts his character. So please let me know if I need to dumb down my explanation further for you.

I think the tasm movies had great acting as well, from Emma stone, Sally field, Martin sheen, Rhys ifans, Dennis leary, and even Andrew Garfield acted his heart out in some of these scenes. Andrew was also the biggest fan of the character, watching interviews you could see how much of a nerd he was in real life, and how well he knows the character, and he was the most dedicated to the role. Whether or not you think his Peter Parker/Spider-Man is good or accurate is highly debatable, but I think they nailed the core characters, they gave us Gwen which I think is still the best live action love interest we've had so far, Martin sheen was good for the short time he played uncle Ben, Sally field was an amazing aunt may, and the most depth we've gotten for the character on screen as well, rosemary Harris is still goated tho. Sally field as aunt may did the most, and Marisa Tomei as aunt may in the mcu is barely even a factor, I can't remember a single line she's said. The flash Thompson in tasm was also the best version of the character I've seen, he was intimidating, but after Ben's death he became more sensitive and actually grew closer with Peter. The mcu doesn't seem to understand these characters at all, or i feel like they tried to deviate so far from previous Spider-Man movies that they created something completely different

One of the things that really baffles me is the fact that when aunt May finds out that Peter is Spider-Man we never get a follow up on that. Literally in Far From Home she fully supports him even though in Homecoming she was extremely concerned about him getting hurt case and point during that restaurant scene when the news reports on the explosion at that deli. Sure Spider-Man can take care of himself but that is a major shift, we should have seen the consequences of that with Peter and May having the conversation.

I love Tom Holland but literally all of the supporting characters in Peter's life seem like hollow shells of what we got in previous adaptations. That's why I can't get fully on board with his version of Peter Parker. Each prominent characters in Peter's life should be there to provide support, but also to provide tension and raise the stakes. Peter being Spider-Man should clash with his relationships as well, and there should always be problems somewhere with his relationships with other people. Aunt May seems to get the least screen time in these movies, like she's only in them for 3-4 minutes each, and when she does appear on screen it seems like she's mostly there for the punchline of a joke or to be gawked at because of how attractive they made her, or to serve as a romantic interest for Tony stark and happy. She's also extremely easy going, part of the reason Peter is such a good guy is because he's parents were strict but fair with him. But that's completely lost with her, it seems like she's more of just a babysitter to Peter than an actual motherly figure. We also get none of those moments where Peter is at his lowest and aunt may gives him advice, like in the raimi and Webb movies where aunt may gives him advice when he feels defeated as Spider-Man or when he's lost the love of his life. There's also the financial aspect, as Ben and may were already poor, but when Ben dies it's supposed to become harder to pay the bills. We never really see may and Peter struggling, they live in really good apartments in the city in New York, how are they affording everything just fine? Idk if they showed what aunt may does for money, but in other interpretations they made it a point that she was still independent and still made sure to support Peter going to school or college or wherever, in tasm2 she's seen working as a nurse, in the raimi movies she says she works as piano teacher, but then loses the house and moves into an apartment. In spectacular Spider-Man Peter starts working at the daily bugle to start supporting her with bills. The fact that they skipped her reaction to Peter being Spider-Man also pissed me off. It would have been the perfect moment to make the series more grounded, maybe they could have a talk about uncle Ben, or she could say that she doesn't want him to get hurt, but we got nothing, and she's now highfiving him as Spider-Man. I mean what motherly figure would be completely okay with seeing their 15 year old son doing all this vigilante work and getting beaten to a pulp all the time like he does? And that's just some of the criticism I have on aunt may. Don't get ne started on flash and Michelle "mj" Jones. Ned leeds also doesn't work as a replacement for harry or any other friend that Peter would have, and he doesn't provide any source of drama or tension for Peter, and he doesn't help Peter grow as a character either, he's basically just Peter's sidekick and there to help Peter with his Spider-Man.

The reason MCU Spiderman gets so much hate is so damn dumb . Its like they want the exact same formula for spiderman in every version . Spiderman having a close relationship with Iron Man makes sense and its done well, and people who say he relies completely on him are wrong . Hes 16 years old , him gaining guidance and someone to look up to is literally realistic. And now that Tony is gone , mcu Peter has already proven he can be his own hero. Hell even in the comics hes gotten help from Iron Man in terms of gadgets like for example the iron spider suit , so why is this even a big deal

@angryboi595
@angryboi595 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying this. Peter’s mentor is not into Uncle Ben he has many others in many comics. And the reason Tobey fans think all this is because they just assume everything in the Tobey movies are canon to the comics and act like they know the comics when they didn’t. For example; Peter’s webs never came out of his own hands, but they just think that because of the movies

I know that this is an old comment and I'll speak for my perspective only. In my opinion, you can fairly criticize each movie and be correct on the topic of adaptation since they all more or less miss with properly adapting comics. And it would be absolutely fine. But we don't have a definitive adaptation. Like near perfect example. If we did, it would be zero problem with just another alternative iteration. Just imho.

In civil war he admits to dumpster diving for parts for a computer, in homecoming he has a outdated phone that continually gets broken, when the teacher calls on him you can see his laptop is being held together by ductape, when his backpack gets stolen he’s forced to walk back to school with a bunch of books in his hands cause he can’t afford one, in FFH he sold his collectibles to get a 3D headphone adapter and MJ’s necklace and in NWH when the police confiscated all his tech when you look under the Edith glasses I believe you can see PlayStation 2 video games. How in the world do you live in 2024 and still have only PlayStation 2 games. But yeah he’s not broke he’s rich right?🤣. Just another dumb argument these people complain about.

The way he immobilised lizard by webbing him up just like a spider? I think it's one of the best Spiderman scenes, which I soo wanna see more of. The scene in TASM 2 where he prevented people from touching the railing through which electricity was flowing was also awesome. So was the end fight scene with electro and the sewer scene with Lizard in which he gets really hurt. The cinematography was great,with real practical effects that we don't see anymore. I loved the darker tone in TASM 1 and how his suit kind of glittered in the darkness,and his Web shooters would glow red when used. The plot thread about Peter's dad was also intriguing and it sucks that tasm 2 kind of ruined it. And ofcourse Andrew and Gwen's chemistry is still unmatched,I absolutely adored both of em. What am trying to say here is,theres a very good reason people like those movies. They might be objectively weakest of all,but still hold a special place in a lot of our hearts. So yes,I love the recognition and respect the TASM movies are now getting because of no way home as they deserve every single ounce of it. Andrew deserves every single ounce of it. Also, Spider Verse rocks.

I like the first tasm because it embodies that dark mysterious tone that was just missing from the Raimi films. Now Spider-Man isn't supposed to be dark but it definitely should have some of those dark and cool moments especially when it comes to the villains. If you have villains like Goblin, Venom, or Lizard the movie should definitely take itself more dark and serious while other villains like doc ock or electro should be more light and fun. Spider-Man should have all different colors. It's all about atmosphere and that's something missing from a lot of modern movies. I think Spectacular Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man media because it literally nails almost everything I mentioned. sometimes you get a really dark and emotional episode other times you get a really light-hearted and goofy one. It has the cool and mysterious tone. I think tasm almost had this but it was leaning into the more realistic Nolan TDK vibe and it felt off when Spider-Man should just be fun. The CGI show Spider-Man the new animated series from the 2000s nails the atmosphere perfectly. the villains are tragic and writing sticks to the comics but puts a unique spin on it. Very underrated show and I wish more people would check it out

I have several reasons why this movie sucks. First of all, Andrew's acting isn't working for me in these movies, it's a misguided acting. He's not the one who does the best acting, he's the one who does the most acting, he's always having a lot of tics and quirks, trying to force the face of dramatic crying, and doing those naughty heartthrob looks, which for me is boring. He also has a habit of saying everything stuttering, and repeating the words over and over in an unconvincing attempt to play an introverted idiot. Because for him that's how people talk in real life, that's so realistic Peter Parker. Don't get me wrong, he is a great actor and future Oscar winner, I love his scene in Hacksaw Ridge "Lord help me get one more" and I repeat his scene in Social Network "Sorry my prada's at the cleaners" several times ", but apart from the Gwen death scene and him meeting his father again, his acting wasn't so good in those movies. These movies also have the worst Spiderman villains with the worst motivations, Lizard looked like a Goomba from the Super Mario Movie and his plan to turn the human race into giant lizards is ridiculous, Electro is apparently envious of all the attention Spiderman gets. receives, Rhino even appearing in posters and trailers is only in the movie to set up future sequels, and while Harry Osborn is the least worst of these villains his villain arc is completely ruined by horrible writing. Peter's parents thing, I understand they had to add some innovation to the movie so it doesn't look like a cliché Spider-Man movie anymore, just like the MCU movies added Iron Man, trip to europe and multiverse, which stayed very good, but the reality is that nobody gives a shit about Peter's parents and it only gets worse because they stretch this plot for the second movie. And Spiderman in the movies suffers "character derailment" in the first movie Uncle Ben scolds him about responsibility comes the bridge scene to show that Peter actually learned something from Uncle Ben's advice, but in the second movie when Sytsevich walks through the busy streets of New York with his truck, Spider-Man, after landing on this truck, just sits there and starts making jokes, effectively allowing Sytsevich to kill and injure several people in the process, and doesn't even try to stop him. To make matters worse, he even allows Sytsevich to fire his gun through the truck's window and into the open crowd instead of trying to disarm it, again putting innocent lives in danger.

No Way Home really reinforced my belief that the TASM movies are better (not saying good) but better looked through the lens of "the consequences of a more reckless and careless Peter". And after Gwen died because of his Irresponsibility that recklessness and carelessness turned into him being "rageful and bitter" according to himself. And No Way Home gave him a bit of a redemption arc in the sense he became a more responsible Spider-Man by the end. And responsibility is always a core part of a good Spider-Man arc.

I devoured the entire first volume of Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) in one sitting because it was just so good, and of course I started with the classics from Amazing Fantasy. Very good stuff. And I did notice that TASM Peter is similar to Ultimate Peter in a lot of ways, which I thought was pretty cool. However, to the many of you who have said this in my comments already, comic accuracy is not always a deciding factor in if a superhero movie is good or bad. :D

I will say this I think if you really boil it down a big reason people don't like MCU Spidey is because he's in a joint custody with Sony and Marvel. If Marvel owned Spidey he would be more like the other characters where he's really just doing his own thing but with some callbacks about the MCU world, and you know what it's like when it's just Sony, given the past movies. A big part of the deal with the two companies is to have the MCU characters be in the Spider-Man movies, I mean hell a big reason why I was happy the deal was going to happen back in like 2016 was because Spidey has always had great interactions with other marvel characters. And the solo Spidey movies is the one where Sony has the most ownership from what I can tell so for the deal to benefit them as well would be to have MCU owned characters play a role in the solo movies and not just have Spidey show up in the team up movies. Also on a more smaller note it might have to also do with the fact the Spider-Man movies are a part of the MCU as a whole, so you can't just watch Homecoming and then watch far from home because you'd miss a lot of context on his character that you get from civil war, infinity war, and endgame, also the MCU is forward moving and because far from home came after endgame they felt they needed to focus on what happened during that movie and not things like how Aunt May took the fact her child is a superhero, I mean by the time we get to infinity war that conversation already went down. Love these movies personally, I like how much this Spidey is a modernization of the old Ditko and Stan Lee comics of the 60's when he was in highschool, for the most part, and I like how it feels like it encourages you to watch the older movies because they don't retread on things that have already been shown on the big screen in the past.

As well as performing well at the box office. For all accounts they're pretty good movies and people tend to like them. Amazing spiderman was a decent film, but the second one bombed hard. It's not exactly a popular series among audiences and no matter how you feel about critics, it got rated pretty low to boot. Thank You! Oh my god, I honestly really needed this video. It is just so frustrating seeing people go all in on hating MCU Spider-Man for the sole reason that “Raimi Spider-Man is better”, which sucks because I honestly think he’s a really fun interpretation of the webslinger. Ok, I agree that the Spider-Man fandom has a serious gatekeeping problem on what in Spider-Man is considered “definitive”. I mean I still see some people call MCU Peter “Iron Boy Jr” even though Tony has been dead for a few years now, only because they say “he’s not Spider-Man, he has the name but he’s not Spider-Man” which just annoyed me to no end. I mean some people even hate MCU Vulture and Mysterio just because they aren’t “comic accurate” saying stuff like Vulture wasn’t Liz’s father in the comics so he’s terrible , or that Mysterio in the comics never needed a team to help trick people so he’s a terrible villain. And that honestly makes me want to bang my head on the wall. Ok, as you can see from my little rant I have been in way too many online debates about this and it’s frustrating seeing some people so insistent on hating MCU Spider-Man just because he’s not the Spider-Man they grew up with. I mean I get it, I’m a huge fan of the Raimi Spider-Man but that doesn’t mean you can’t just have fun and be open to new interpretations of the webslinger. After all, if Spider-Man had the same story over and over with no risks or experimenting with the character, why even bother watching? I’m embracing these different interpretations of Spider-Man with open arms, excited to see the different adventures of the wall crawler. I just wish more people watched these movies with a more open mind.

As big Spider-Man fan, I somewhat agree. I'm an avid reader of the comics and I personally think Spider-Man PS4 is the best interpretation of the character in media (Along with Spectacular Spider-Man) As for films, I love MCU Spider-Man and I think they are great movies but I don't think they are good "Spider-Man" movies. I enjoy Homecoming and Far From Home but I can't enjoy them as Spider-Man stories because Tom's interpretation is so far from the Peter from the comics. His motivation can be off like wanting to become an Avenger or not wanting to save the world because of a school trip, the Parker Luck isn't there (even when it happens, he gets forgiven). Uncle Ben, the reason he even becomes Spider-Man is almost non-existent. Even so, I still really like Tom's version - I like that Tom acts like a believable teenager, MCU borrowed Miles Morales supporting cast from the comics (Ned acting as Peter's Ganke) but that's not bad thing, Peter has been mostly alone in Raimi's trilogy and TASM but I like that MCU has a fun supporting cast to back up Peter. Tom's villains are really likeable and No Way Home looks really hype, we see him deal with his identity crisis and how it affects those closest to him.

They can't act like that because people like JezzalsSmol don't actually like Spider-Man. They just like one interpretation of him and that's it. Also, that comic book accuracy argument is total BS. The comics have different versions of Spider-Man, so when discussing accuracy, can he be like the Steve Ditko version, the Ultimate version, a mix, etc.? Because of this, there's no definitive answer for what makes a Spider-Man movie good. Why do people even compare these movies to previous iterations? Have they ever thought in their pea-sized brains that these movies are supposed to be different from the Raimi ones? The people that are making these movies believe that change should be allowed, which is a lesson that Into The Spider-Verse made for the toxic Spider-Man fans, but those morons didn't understand the message of that film at all. These ignorant fans try to find stuff that could be considered bad with criticisms that aren't actually there at all. I hate this fanbase so much that if anyone disagrees with my statement, don't bother replying because you just can't accept the truth that what you think Spider-Man needs to always have in a movie isn't objectively right. Here's something that's objectively right though: if you're a Spider-Man fan like HiTop Films, The Amazing Lucas, and The Lightning Rod, you're actually a Spider-Man hater, and you're automatically cancer to society. All of you deserve consequences for your actions, like being banned from Internet platforms. That's something you always want to see with Spider-Man, right? Being entitled, bullying, harassing, gatekeeping, making invalid criticisms, lying, manipulating, being unfair, sending death threats, etc. Those are indications that you clearly don't understand Spider-Man and are actually not fans. At this point, this fanbase is a cult, and it needs to be taken down.

@@supersaiyanfox9190 At the end of the day, those were my opinions. People can agree or disagree. In fairness, I should've clarified that I was referring to 616 Spider-Man as I believe that should be the standard when making comparisons to the comics. Let me clarify, I like MCU Spider-Man. Pretty sure I was very vocal about liking it, even though it was different. Which is in line with what you said, that Spider-Man films can be different and I agree. I also did not compare MCU Spidey to the Raimi Trilogy or TASM except when I stated MCU's cast is more fun than it's previous iterations but that's just my opinion. I like Tom's performance, his smarts, his charisma, etc. I'm just not a fan of the decisions they went with. I didn't like the absence of Uncle Ben, he is a key part in Spider-Man mythos. Tom can have both Uncle Ben and Tony as father figures, Uncle Ben for Peter and Tony as a mentor for becoming a hero. They could incorporate Uncle Ben into the story without him being in it (Spider-Man PS4 did this very well). Something I wish there was more of is the stakes when Peter puts on the mask - when something goes right for Spider-Man, something goes wrong for Peter and vice versa. That's just the Parker Luck that has been a staple in Spider-Man stories since it's conception but it was missing in the MCU until No Way Home gave us a glimpse of that, his victory over Mysterio was overshadowed by the reveal of Spider-Man's identity in turn ruining Peter's life. I love it, it's refreshing and it's never been done before in the live action movies. These are monumental aspects of Peter's life, so I think it's a shame if they're taken out. People can have things they like and dislike, it's just being human. I believe every live action iteration has its flaws. I love the Raimi Trilogy but it's clearly not perfect, Andrew Garfield is my favourite Spider-Man but his movies were not well received, MCU is refreshing but some decisions were questionable. Even so, I like each iteration in their own right. Something you said I do agree with is the gatekeeping of some fans. Fans who harass, criticise and threaten other fans, simply because they don't think the same way is sickening. It's a major issue within the community and it's shame that it's likely never going to go away. I am a bit off put when you said Spider-Man haters are automatically cancer to society. 9:17 The ideal way to get around the “suit problem” is to go the route of Spectacular Spider-Man or some of the later comic adaptations, in which the Spider-Man costume wasn’t made by Peter. Instead, the suit was given to Peter by the wrestling federation following his success, or in some cases the TV producers gave it to him. Either way the suit gets professionally made for him so it makes sense it would look good. Afterward Peter can add things to it like the moving eyes and the web shooters to make it like his comic suit.

But now, I love the movie more as when I watch it, I most often watch the deleted scenes and try to see it as the movie Webb wanted to do. And when it comes to TASM2, I love the suit. Especially after NWH This video is a amazing way to sum up some of the false criticism that MCU Spider-Man has like there’s only a couple things I don’t like but most of the criticism like he doesn’t face rent and job issues make no sense. Like I don’t think a teenager has to struggle with adult problems. However Andrew Garfield was always a good Spider-Man just suffered due to bad writing
@BurgoYT

@t.j.1584
@t.j.1584 2 жыл бұрын
@@BurgoYT Exactly. People just want the new Spider-Man movies to be exactly like Tobey so I think that’s one of the reasons why they would use that criticism even tho ones a teenager and the other is a adult. The other reason why I say this is because back in 2019 when Sony was gonna take Spider-Man out of the MCU people were saying stuff like “oh great now we can have movies that’s similar and just as good as the rami ones.” (Although I think Tom and Tobey’s trilogies were both really good) and I believe this KZfaqr the amazing Lucas said that before. But I’m like you guys do know that these are the same people who ruined Spider-Man 3 and TASM2 and miss-used this character right? Plus last time I checked Sam Rami isn’t directing Tom’s movies so how would they know it would turn out good for all we know we could’ve gotten another TASM2 scenario. Also we actually do see Peter in the MCU have some money problems but it’s to the extent to what a teenager would have. Like in homecoming he had a outdated smartphone that would continue to get broken, a broken laptop being held together by ductape and his backpack got stolen and couldn’t afford one so he had to walk to school with books in his hands. Then in FFH and in a deleted scene in FFH it’s explained that Peter had to sell his collectibles to afford going on the trip and getting MJ her necklace. So it’s pretty evident that he’s poor and faces money problems, just money problems a teenager would struggle with and not money problems a adult would like paying bills and rent. Sorry if this is too long btw.

I feel like the consequences portion of this video was kind of skimmed over quickly and the argument was essentially boiled down to" oh people only say that cause people don't die in these films or vulture kept peters secret". Which is really strange cause a lot of the criticisms I've seen of both these films have nothing to do with either of those and more to do with fact that this Spiderman faces zero repercussions with his social circle and May for his antics as Spiderman, his academic life seems to go swimmingly and only had a brief dip in homecoming before going back to normal. He and May seem to be financially sound with no issues which is weird since they are a one parent household in New York. And before his identity was released peter seemed to be pretty liked by the public and not continually slandered by Jonah for his good deeds. All of this wrapped up in the fact that he has the backing of stark industries and their resources.

I was just about to write the argument of the consequences thing! (Apart from the stark back end stuff, i still dont see the movie portraying peter have their financial support apart from using their shits to make his ffh suit) but what bothers me about the consequences argument is that he directly referenced and even showed HiTop films argument on it but didnt even touched on the things in HiTop’s arguments (about consequences such as his social circles). HiTop never really states that the movie needed someone to die to be deemed as consequences, so it was weird for this video essay to make the argument of “death = consequences”, especially after showing HiTop’s argument.

Alternate reason Ock could be a villain: The tentacles are driving. In Spider-Man 2 we see Otto struggle to control the tentacles, even fighting them as he dies. Maybe they took over his mind, forcing Otto to be doing bad things even though the original Otto is long gone.

It's definitely because Otto's mind is taken over again. I just rewatched Spider-Man 2 and noticed that when Otto is in control, the lights on the tentacles glow white, not red. What if Spidey didn't find Uncle Ben's killer and him going around as Spiderman made him forget about his Uncles killer sort of allowing him to eventually move past it. Yes he has not truly became Spiderman but I believe the if the third film was where he actually found his uncle's killer he would complete an arc where he realizes With Great Power comes Great Responsiblility and decides not to kill the guy. Maybe have Black Cat play a roll in trying to seduce him to the darkside as a love interest after Gwen died so there can be some stakes. I think the biggest problem is that there will always be those to compare one version with another similarly with characters like The Joker, Batman, Superman, etc. Any character/film that gets rebooted.

Did that happen in one of the (non-cannon) Ultimate spider-man team ups? Because Ultimate Spidey barely had any interaction with most of the Ultimates sans Nick Fury and Cap. @@nb2044 Carol makes the proposal in USM vol2 #150, Tony acts upon it in #153-154 and sends Pete new web-shooters in #155. During those issues Spidey calls himself Stark's and Cap's 'big fan' and MJ says Aunt May knows he 'worships' Tony. All of that happens right before Peter dies, and that story's obviously canon, 155 is labeled as prelude to the Death, so the issues are pretty much canon as well. There were some other appearances of IM, although true, rare. And I definitely remember there was a time when Peter was desperate and he was searching for help, swinging by Baxter building due to his history with FF and the Ultimates' hq as he thought they're the real superheroes he probably can trust. So overall, again, it's true Ultimates weren't prominent in Spidey's comic, but when they were brought up, Peter would be described as a fan Not as big of a fan as in MCU, but the idea is there and movies never follow original ideas in the exact way. Peter still fought his fights without Tony though, otherwise it'd cross the line but that luckily didn't happen, and RDJ was meant to leave soon from 2016, so I'm glad we got the friendship between them while we could. And since Holland's series was seen as Harry Potter style long growing up story, I believe he'll have time to move on in adult years and start creating his own legacy (unless Sony screws things up)

I am also Team Andrew. Now, I also disagreed with his opinion, but I respect it and I see where he is coming from. Sure, not many people may not like or could even hate the first TASM suit, but it is very accurate because Peter got a spandex suit, used a watch and remodeled it to a web shooter, used sunglass lenses as his eyes, and the bottom of sneakers as his shoes. That’s how a teenager would do it. And the second TASM suit is definitely an improvement and one that we can get used to.

Andrew’s spider-man will always be my favorite. His spider-man was witty, smart, confident and made quips, while still also being skillful, acrobatic and compassionate. His Peter was iffy though but I did appreciate the take they were going for a more relatable character which is what spider-man is all about , relatability. His acting obviously was amazing as well, all the emotional scenes in the amazing Spider-Man series were great in my opinion, especially scenes with Aunt May. The action scenes are still my absolute favorite to the web-swinging and using his spider abilities to his advantage in battle, the choreography was so much better in the amazing films in my opinion. Some of my favorite Spider-Man moments are in these films, they have really high highs for spider-man ( such as spider-man saving the kid from Bullies) , but the writing makes the lows super low. I can’t deny that these movies do overall suck, but I can’t lie and say I don’t love a lot of things from them.

When people say mcu spider-man doesn't face any consequences it's not about people not dying, it's about spider-man breaking rules that the movie establishes and then nothing bad happens from that. For example: in Homecoming, Peter mentions that he doesn't what to tell Aunt May he's spider-man because if she knew she would get upset and she wouldn't let him be spider-man again. But then in the next movie she is totally ok with Peter being spider-man and they don't even mention anything about it. Another example would be Peter's problem to balance his life as a super hero with his normal life. In the mcu all his friends know he's spider-man so he doesn't have to worry about that. He can skip classes because he has that "Stark pass" or whatever it's called. And he doesn't have to work because apparently all his financial problems magically disappeared (I assume Stark also helped him with that idk).

@@boganbott4408 he gave you facts, it's hard to ignore all of that stuff and see it that way unless you just mindlessly ignore all the plot details. It's not an interpretation it's literally the movie. Aunt May should not be fully okay with Peter being Spider-Man, she's supposed to be a motherly figure in Peter's life, yet she knows Peter is getting beat with in an inch of his life everyday and just let's him continue being Spider-Man, even helping him with Spider-Man stuff? And the only mention of uncle Ben we got was the suitcase, yet it was destroyed and Peter doesn't care? Also Peter wasn't Spider-Man for that long and they have never mentioned uncle Ben once, the most important person in his life, he's not mourning him or paying tribute, he's not using the line and that all makes it seem like uncle Ben doesn't matter in these movies.

I still like the MCU spidey but i did find somethings in them that I wasn’t the biggest fan of that are simply my opinion: - I wasn’t the biggest fan of how homecoming and FFH had villains who both have a motivation that breaks down to “Stark screwed me over so now i’m gonna get back at him.” I do think Vulture’s version of this motivation was done much better compared to Mysterio though. - I wasn’t the biggest fan of the vacation hijinx in Far From Home like with the Brad Davis character (To me he felt like a more active John Jameson from Spider-Man 2) or even the Ned/Betty romance shtick. I feel like you could’ve cut those down to focus a little more on Peter and MJ scenes and more so how and why Peter developed a crush on MJ in the first place. - Wasn’t the biggest fan on how they gloss past May’s discovering that Peter is Spider-Man and how she’s ultimately ok with it in Far From Home. In fact she pushes for him to bring his suit with him on his trip even packs it in secret. There’s some other things here that i’m not the biggest fan but you get the point; I like MCU Spidey, however he’s definitely not my favorite (that honor goes to Insomniac Spidey)

I'll disagree slightly on the meaning of "With great power comes great responsibility." The way I see it, Peter isn't obligated to risk his life and be a superhero just because he was accidentally gifted with powers. The main take away from that line is don't use your gifts and talents irresponsibly. Don't use them in service of your own greed or desires. I mean it's not like everyone who's gifted with playing the guitar is now obligated to join a band, or someone who's a natural marksman now has to join the special forces. The main take away from that line is to be a good man. Be responsible with the things you have that others dont have. Not "you must risk your life fighting evil villains." And for those who would argue that he must because of how many villains pop up, I'd argue that this is solely because the specific author writes the sequel stories on that way. When you live in a world that Peter Parker lives in, where superheroes are world wide and several operate within New York, the idea that he is somehow irresponsible for not being a superhero is insane to me. What makes his choice to continue to be spiderman so heroic and honorable is precisely because he doesn't have to. As well as his personal belief being that Spiderman is a positive thing that should continue, because he loves being a superhero. He loves saving people. And the great tragedy of Peter's character is that he personally believes he needs to be Spiderman out of guilt for what happened to Uncle Ben, which was a crime he didn't even commit. Yes he made a choice which indirectly allowed it to happen but he didn't kill Uncle Ben. Which is why I love that issue of Ultimate Spiderman where he and Aunt May talk after his identity is revealed to her. She tells him that he is not responsible for his Uncles death, and is heart broken that he has had to carry the burden of believing it was his fault for months, all while being a superhero and a teenager going through school. She tells him something along the lines of, "No Peter, a man came into our home, and he shot Uncle Ben. That wasn't you. That was HIS choice, not yours. I find this outlook on the famous line about responsibility so much richer than a base "you must be a superhero" interpretation.

Listen folks you can like what you want its your opinion. Just remember these are movies and not a long series of comics or even a TV show with multiple hours to flesh out a story or characters. Im happy to have my favorite comic book hero to come to life as well as some of the villans he has fought in the comics and cartoons and also to be able to see it on a big screen. Even if it can get a little jumbled with the story. For me its worth the watch and enjoyment of all the movies. Remember all the dumb things that happened in the older cartoons that leaves you scratching your head now that you go back and watch them. If your a true Spiderman fan then be one. I think the fundamental misunderstanding many people have when it comes to Spider-Man film criticism is that most people completely ignore that Spider-Man is a character from a comic book. A lot of the reasons as to why a person might like/dislike one of the movies can come down to how close they feel he is to the comic book version(s) of the character, not the actual quality of the movies themselves. Me personally, I think the Raimi and MCU movies are fine movies, but I will complain about them endlessly because I don't think that either version of the webhead is a good adaptation of the comic character. Conversely, the Amazing movies are dogshit, but I think NWH proves that Garfield's version of Spider-Man acts the most like the character from the books.
