Honestly, NCT went through a lot, but they are far from being a failed project. There is no other group like NCT and there never will be. SM is being successful with each unit and maintaining the idea of the group as a whole. NCT Nation concert just proved how successful they are. Their fandom is huge Kora and worldwide.

It's good that he set a realistic expectation because inevitably there will be an air of awkwardness due to there being virtually no shared training experience between the tenured and new Neo's, or the lack of years long friendships between them. And honestly they can hardly maintain cross unit friendships due to their poorly managed schedules so it'll be even hard to form ones with the new members.

LSM's concept of unlimited and rotating numbers failed...but the groups are successful.

To be honset I have had enough after Shotaro, Sungchan and the newest members Shohei, Seunghan and Eunseok (after being introduced precicesly through a TV show for several weeks and also performing as a group during SM Town concerts) were made to leave NCT to debut as a completely new group while poor Shohei was kicked out completely! And then SM announced that completely new trainees will again debut as a NCT subunit! At this point I got very annoyed! And is not the fault of the NCT members at all... they probably had no say in this complete chaos!

They have this concept in Japan, look at AKB48 and HKT48, their successful. Of course with this many members, your not gonna know everyone. Lots of musical groups have members that are just colleagues and not friends. This ain't new to music.

As someone who's stanned NCT since their debut, it's not the music perse that's failing, it's literally the unlimited members that's a hard concept. Seeing how SM prioritises certain units over others (*cough* *cough* neglecting WayV) and now this new unit that's debuted it's just, too much... PS, the people taking Haechan's words out of context really need to grow up. He never stated that the group should be hated in anyway, he just said it's up to us if we choose to Stan them or not. And he honestly has the right to say what he did, because at the end of the day, this unit will affect the group as a whole more than it will affect us as stans.

As for the new unit, I admit I'm struggling with adapting a little, but over time I'm sure everything will fall in place as long as SME doesnt f up too much. The problem was not Haechan talking about the new unit. It is understandable if you fit yourself in his shoes but what's the real problem is the fans who didn't like the new unit took Haechan's opinion as their excuse to hate on the new unit. it's ok if you don't like the new unit and everyone has their personal preferences but let's not hate on the new unit. They've also been trainees, they've also struggled to debut, they had to compete with fellow trainees.

Bruh I saw a post of someone saying a lot of popular boy K-pop group such as Enhypen, stray kids and Ateez aren’t actually popular in Korea and are carried by international fans. Then when everyone asked in the comments who were actually popular in South Korea the same 3 groups were ALWAYS mentioned: Seventeen, The Boyz AND NCT (both 127 and Dream). According to many many comments of people living in Korea, you can go anywhere without hearing or seeing NCT. International fans don’t understand that that’s why those groups tend to charts higher than the others you deem more popular. NCT has always been able to chart well. They’re not failing if anything they’re getting more and more popular as they are now able to have their own interactions with fans on TikTok and instagram.

How did this fail, I mean the sub units of nct alone are more popular then 85% of other kpop groups currently. NCT is such a popular group worldwide with high sales from multiple albums ex. ISTJ by nct dream in 2023 was the 5th most successful kpop album sales wise of copies.

Honestly, I think it’s better to free ourselves from the pressure of having to like all the members and subunits. If you like all of them? Fair enough but in reality NCT is a system with different styles. If you only like one unit that’s totally fine because it was SMs intention from the beginning to give the fans more options to chose from. That is what makes the NCT system unique. For example, I only like WayV but occasionally listen to NCT U songs when my favourite members are part of the song and that works for me. Why do I have to force myself to like the other units, too? Plus, every unit is successful in their own way and NCT Wish will also gain fans. Maybe even new and younger ones that didn’t care or know about NCT before. A group that is growing with their fandom: That’s NCT!

Do i think SM handles NCT badly? Yes. But this video talks mostly about things I personally think fans are at wrong. The graduation system was so interesting! I loved Dream's bubbly music and it was such a great way of giving younger members fun concepts that they would have grown out sooner or later. Splitting them must have been hard and SM could have done a so much better job at system but making them a fix unit was not the best way to handle it for me. Fans being angry at the new members... it's just childish. "they haven't work as hard" CAUSE THEY WERE TRAINEES!!! In fact, I think these new members were thrown to the wolf's mouth. They have such unrealistic standards set upon them and must try to fit in with members with a huge gap and a dramatic ass fandom. Also fans expecting all of them to be best friends sounds like a fans problem, not SM's. Heachan's feelings are valid and should be respected, but people be acting as either he commited a crime or was a victim. I don't think it was wrong to put an end to the limitless members, but there was so much potential to their limitless concept. Take TripleS as an example, they are doing such a great job at making and handling multiple sub-units.

SM completely fumbled the NCT project, particularly WayV (and I'm not very optimistic about Wish) They could've done sooooooo much more with the boys instead of what we actually got, which was them treating every subunit as a normal separate BG with them only working together once per year at most. The entire point of NCT was that they're all in a group and you mix and match endlessly depending on popularity/ availability/ whatever BESIDES the separate group stuff, plus the "endless expansion" bs that was inevitably gonna be cancelled when they can barely manage the existing members to begin with. And this brings me to WayV. They were just beginning to gain traction when the Lucas scandal happened, which, OK, sucked, but then SM kept the entire group in limbo hiatus for 1,5 year just to announce that Lucas was out after aaaaall that time. It's like they were so desperate to keep him 'in' that they were willing to fuck all the other members over for MONTHS and that's what they did, until they saw that people still weren't changing their opinion on LS and were forced to remove him. You cannot change my mind about this. WayV got fucked over. They're doing modestly well but they could've been huge instead.

Nct is definitely not a failure, they're doing really good and their name is up there with other big boy groups. The concept is a little troublesome but the members are talented and versatile and the neo sound definitely suits them. Their sound was always ahead of it's time.

NCT as a whole is definitely not failing, but that's entirely a credit to the members themselves working their asses off rather than SM actually being a competant management company. Like the infinite members concept isn't really the problem it's how SM mismanaged it that's the issue. The previous management team under LSM tried to do too much too fast across the company without the resources to accomplish any of it well (i.e. the Kwangya concept) and that directly contributed to the mismanagement issues with NCT. Like come on they're a company that went literal years without actually making a statement about whether one of the main units was even part of NCT and caused so much needless infighting within the fandom (yes I'm talking about the pre-NCT 2020 "is WayV actually NCT" debate), you can't honestly expect to be capable of managing an infinite members system when you can't even effectively manage three units. Infinite members as a concept is more suited to a company that is only managing those artists and no other groups, trying to support such a complicated system while also trying to "revolutionize" the kpop industry was never going to turn out well for them. It's because the members are all so talented and hard-working that they've gotten to where they are despite trying to navigate a system they didn't even understand themselves because of lack of communication by management. The entire concept of a graduation system however was doomed from the start and was by FAR one of SMs biggest group management mistakes. They should have learned from the suju situation and realized that fans are obviously going to get attached to fixed units and are going to push back against a mega corporation trying to maximize profit potential by treating artists as playthings they can move around at will rather than respecting their talent and letting the teams that debuted together grow together.

I feel like one of the main reasons for this controversy could be their ages. They’ve done well at appealing to younger audiences, like myself. (I’m 16, and still younger than all of them) Obviously the age thing isn’t a problem to me, but I know that many nctzens tend to be older. Since age ranges pretty widely among fans, I can definitely see older nctzens being uncomfortable with stanning a group of such young kids (essentially) Needless to say, even if you choose not to support them, I don’t think they should be hated on, or excluded. They worked hard to get to where they’re at, and although it’s different from how other members have contributed, I don’t think we should dismiss their effort. Umm anyway STAN NCT!!!!!

This is just my opinion.. NCT's concept is good, it's like a franchise... There are lots of advantages if it's doing well.. Like easier to promotion member and cost savings, faster debuting of trainees, quickly dominate the market.. But of course.. NCT's long-term project has many challenges.. from Covid and make all entertainment businesses are down.. then the China-Korea political problem.. So why i think debut WayV is delay and NCT Dream to be fix unit.. But in my opinion the biggest mistake is Haechan and Mark who are in two fix units (Not hate, I know they are the ones who work the hardest). This is just my opinion, with overlapping members, this really destroy the schedules for two units at the same time like for comebacks, concerts and etc.. 127 and Dream waiting for each other.. This condition is not beneficial for mark and Haechan too.. because they both focus on two units, they have less time for solo schedules... The problem with unequal popularity, I think every group is like that... Even with groups with few members, popularity is still like that too.. Then for juniors who borrow the popularity from seniors so they can quickly become known.. Maybe for fans it's unfair... but for agency it's normal. especially at a big agency like SM.. HOT introduced TVXQ at their concert.. Super Junior introduced EXO and many more.. SM makes interaction between their idols is also a promotion.. the main target is SM stans.. The most problem now.. i think SM need more staff.. Especially after SM's problems last year.. There's a lot of content that I think was uploaded late..

People saying NCT WISH 💫 is benefiting of NCT brand without working that much. Don't make me laugh. Until now has been the opposite. They have only received a lot of hate from NCT fans, sungtaro fans and even from people that say that they are no need it.They are working very hard to be accepted & appreciate it. It's not easy to debut in an established group because comparison will be inevitable too. The NCT members have said before they understand it is hard for new members to incorporate. Also, they are foreigners most of them which will make it more difficult to be accepted with kfans.

I don’t think it failed. I just think that the company wasn’t prepared for all the work. I feel like people need to understand how AKB48 works or even just the 48 franchise because that is what NCT was based off of. As someone who was a huge fan of AKB48 in elementary and middle school before I became a big fan of K-pop I’m telling you, SM was not prepared for the way that they would have to go about promoting them and the way they would have to go about creating units and groups. The biggest thing is that AKB48 was always a rotational group, all of the 48 groups whether you’re talking about the ones that are based in Thailand, the two based in China, I think there’s several of them, technically based in Japan, and then they even have more recent and new groups that have been created, and based in other Asian countries like Vietnam, I believe in the Philippines And the thing is, they’re always rotational. None of those members stay the same it’s literally just a giant group of normally 128 girls that then get split up into different units and then there’s the main 48 those are the girls that always do the single Title tracks and the music videos and they’re the ones that get pushed them most. The thing is that concept would not work with K-pop because K-pop is all about being very consistent with your groups and things do I think they could have worked out a rotational group to a certain degree of course people forget that there are new groups coming out that are kind of like that like triple S the girl group Actually really like their concept and I think that they’re doing it the right way which NCT couldn’t get done which is having different units. Sit there come out debut different and then rotating them out or creating different units and just consistently doing that. I definitely think NCT makes a lot more sense than having NCT as a whole bureau, rotational group, and in terms of like NCT wish. That has nothing to do with the group and I don’t think it has anything to do with the initial plan for the company has everything to do with the new people who took over after they kicked out LSM in my opinion. It’s very obvious that the NCT unit was going to be Riize Why because of the time when those guys would’ve been trainees and the interactions that they’ve already had with NCT the whole concept of NCT was a group of guys who had train together together already knew each other, preestablished relationship basically with most of the members, and then debuting members weren’t trainees for that and they definitely had not trained with the current members of NCT. I think the biggest issue was that the company wanted to not follow what LSM had planned, which is why they decided to switch it up and that is what backfired in this case of this last unit being debuted. They would’ve been perfectly fine if they didn’t decide to have a survival program to pick out these boys and then throw them into the NCT universe. If they really didn’t want to follow through they should’ve just not debut another NCT unit that would’ve been been perfectly fine, but they also knew that they have been promising the fans before they decide to kick out the owner of the company that they were working on the state this group debuting and being a group.

Behind SHINee and BTS, my next favorite group is WayV. I love a lot of other subunits' songs, but aside from Mark and Taeyong, I don't know who's who. I thought that a better concept would have been for NCT to have a set number of members who form temporary groupings based on what was being released and the members' personal talents. I do think the country-specific permanent subunit concept is a good idea so, for example, China or Japan, could feel more included. But after learning all the members of WayV, plus Mark and Taeyong, I know a few names but can't match the names to faces, and certainly can't keep up with dozens of people. Each hard-working member of NCT deserves support, not to bea nameless face in the sea of NCT.

I don't care about concept at all, just wish my boys are happy and healthy but SM😑 At first, i was only a Dreamzen, i love listening to their songs....and gosh their heavenly vocals, i got blessed❤ But when i delved more into them, I didn't noticed when i got addicted to these guys and i wanted to know them more, like NCT as a whole, then i further penetrated into 127 and WAYV and fr these guys changed my life too, like i didn't see it coming, never expected to stan these groups as hard as i ever stanned any other kpop group. So, My journey started from being a Dreamzen to NCTzen and i am proud of myself💚 I don't want to force amyone to be an NCTzen, like you can follow any unit you like, but atleast give the other units a chance too, i am sure you'll love them. Should have debuted T7 as a group, would have taken over kpop and been huge today. Now 8 years and still so many high and low and every unit mistreatment, wayv worse getting 2 music stage for a comeback. New unit, sad for them. Haechan was so right , others members surely feel the same. In laststart ten being super mentor told he met yushi when he was a kid . Yushi saying he was fan of ten taeyong , both his idol . Well xiaojun said same for ten during debut but atleast its 3 yr age difference. Group now has taeil who will be 30 this year and sakuya who is 15. Huge difference in debut years , skill, training everything. A new Japanese group would have been best for these boys . Riize is working well thou most line up were going to be new nct, so they could have done same for nct wish to making new Japanese boy group brand , investing in it.

I think SM should make its awkward but it’s okay again for NCT Wish or some kind of concept placing them with their hyungs. this will bring them more exposure and overtime, more fans will come to accept them. I know Doyoung, Taeyong, and Yuta have already accepted them with open arms. I will look forward to more interactions.

about the friendship part. it was normal to feel awkward at first meeting, lol as if 127 wasn't awkward before when they debuted eventho they are trainees for the long time now they aren't awkward anymore as well as dream and wayv. It's just to give them time on their own to know the person who's in their team, and i understand haechan, he's just speaking his mind about what fans would feel. he doesn't need to give flowery words just to like the new team (nct wish) it's the fans decision whether to like them or not. i too doesn't look nct wish as nct yet (probably bcs i dont look them up to know them) but eventually i will just not now. plus the age gap is really hard for them to established a friendship so it's understandable. the "it's awkward but it's okay" is just a segment and i can see that it's hilarious and the members that they are putting on that segment wasn't really awkward.

I think adding Nct Wish was a wrong step for SM. If sm wants to create a japanese group, it should have been a separate group not a subunit of nct. Even nct fans are separated based on units. The age gap and no overlap trainings makes it worse. Another thing what makes some nct fans disagree with nct wish was that shotaro & sungchan were removed from the brand when both of them were introduced along with seunghan, shohei & eunseok in the welcome to nct universe and so fans speculated that they would be the japanese unit. When shotaro, sungchan, seunghan & eunseok debuted in riize, the fans followed them too. So that is why some nct fans feel that riize is part of nct and not nct wish. Disclaimer: I am not against riize or any of the members stated. I do think riize and nct wish too deserves their own brand. SM should have stop limitless system, wayV as the last unit. This were some of my opinions and other nct fans that I read.

NCT WISH just debuted and the song is a bop and pretty dope. The MV (Japanese and Korean) is funny and cute. It's understandable that NCT needed a unit for younger audiences. NCT WISH is super fresh and I personally, who am a NCT127 and WAVY fan, will support NCT WISH, as I support the other units. I don't care what other fans think. They are super talented and I wish them all the best. 💚

I would like to say some thing Nct isnt failed concept nor group the thing is it's actually Their since the beginning Sm planned it long ago and Lee Soo Man made a documentary on this to introduce Nct concept it'd unique totally because it means to bring different cultures together from the world like cultural diversity. This being said also the expansion concept will be intact if Lee Soo Man was SM CEO like last year two members Sungchan and Shotaro and four new members which are in Riize now excluding Shohei supposed to be debut in Nct J with some of current unit members and they even made a show Nct universe before debuting Nct J then suddenly LSM had to leave and his new CEO came and took everything in his own hands kick out Sungchan and Shotaro from group and also abolish Nct expansion rule by cancelling Nct Hollywood concept. And no I'm not lying this is what happened that is why it's all mess otherwise NCT system was going smoothly. Firstly, the concept they originally had failed but them not only as solo artists but as a whole group AND units have all been very successful. Secondly i agree with Haechan, the way sm ent did things makes their intentions so clear to me, they added sungchan and shotaro (imo) knowing they wouldn't be permanent members they added them so that nctzens can grow to like them and when they joined riize they'd naturally follow them to support them. That's why nct wish hasn't been getting much love, bc of what happened to taro and sungchan

Personally, I don’t think NCT failed. Their concept wasn’t a complete failure either, it actually got them lots of exposure. It was innovative for the kpop scene. And I think one of the things that SM really thought ahead about was military enlistments. Having so many international/non-korean born members was very smart. A whole unit (WayV) won’t have to go through enlistments. The age difference between Dream and 127 allow Dream to bloom while 127 enlists, and viceversa. Chenle and Renjun don’t have to enlist either. And now Wish won’t have to enlist either. This creates a space for more solo work for other members. I think it was a smart thing to do.

NCT concept is not revolutionary. Maybe different for Korea but Japan has groups like this, EXILE Tribe.

nct wish deserves as much love as the other units also yeah they might get easy reputation from the nct brand name but nct wish are very talented and have stable vocals!!!

NCT's concept to have unlimited members may failed but NCT's popularity and success haven't been affected , in fact they are currently becoming more and more successful , achieving new milestones everyday and releasing good songs after good songs . The problem people [HATERS] have with NCT's music is the fact that their music concept haven't conformed or changed since they have debuted because haters have been criticizing or complaining about their "loud" music . Many groups would have caved in and changed their music concept when fans [HATERS] are constantly complaining about their music but NCT haven't and that is what makes people hate them or dislike them . Please don't speak in a way that suggests that NCT is disbanding , not achieving anything and have fans leaving their fandom every second of the day . NCT is a very successful group even without the "Unlimited Members Concept " .

Tbh I don't have an issue with nct wish, I have an issue with SM suddenly removing Sungchan and Shotaro when they were already part of the group, just to debut a younger group when it would have made more sense just to make the Wish members a separate group altogether and more practical
