The pros have been using this harness to see more fish on their sonar units for years. In this video we stop at Sea Clear and get the Sea Clear Power Harness installed in the new Nitro bass boat and meet up with ‪@TimmyHorton‬ to find out why pro tournament anglers see more fish on their sonar using the Sea Clear Harness!

@@mikeybalzz two of us got the best package and it was about 900 each for three days and two nights. The lake he made is nice and he’s stocked it with some big ones, smallies and large mouth and F1s. I personally think it needs a few years to let the new fish grow but he’s managing it right. Best hospitality I’ve had on a trip and he was very involved. I think I’m about 3 years you’ll be able to catch some big ones. All the equipment is really nice, just bring rods and baits. Rooms are great, food is excellent and staff is top notch. We caught a ton but nothing of significant size. I will be going back in 3-5 years. It’s just too young in my opinion. It’s also high fence and the deer are monstrous. Just Google willow oak and you can see it. Lots of flooded timber, flats, ditches, good cover. It’s about 15 acres.

The new craze is who can run the biggest hot and ground wires from your batteries to every individual unit on your boat. I too have run 8 or 10 gauged wires to mine. I run Humminbird electronics and always have so can't speak with absolute authority about the other manufactures. But, it concerns me greatly that we're all being told it's now necessary to run preassembled, very expensive, wiring harnesses with wires that compare to the size wire that hangs between the utility poles along the road in order for the units to perform to their potential and the factory power plugs that plug into the back of, at least Humminbird units, have tiny 18 or 20 gage wire coming out of them. So, if I understand this correctly, we need a wires the size of a firehose to get all this power to the unit, only to be attached to the factory wires the size of a straw (size comparison attempts here) that run the last foot or two before going into the unit. If we need wiring 10 times larger than the factory hot and ground wires to transport the appropriate power to within a foot of the unit, why doesn't it need that much power ALL the way to and into the unit??? Honest question! Cause I truly don't know the answer to this! If the units aren't made to work correctly using the 18 guage hot & ground wire, why is that what's coming out of the units from the factory?

While I do not care for this product, there is merit to using a heavier gauge wire for LONG RUNS away from the battery. This is because voltage drops for ever foot of conductor between the load and the battery. The smaller the wire, the more that voltage drop can be. So, running a 12 gauge wire almost 20 feet (to the bow area) is scientifically a good thing to do as opposed to a 16 ga. wire that far. After that, I use a terminal strip inside the hull at the bow to attach the thin gauge power cable for the unit. Running the larger wire is all about reducing voltage drop, not feeding any demand for high amps.

👍🏻what Texman said. I was on a forum last night and a guy was running 3 feet of 6 gauge to a 20 amp fuse thinking he was getting more power. It still goes to a 18 gauge power cord which will melt before the 20 amp fuse blows! Stupid.

Anytime you have a poor connection you get voltage droo..When you're running alot of graphs and accessories you need a good source of power...We've ALL had the issues of graphs shutting down when you crank the big engine..CLEAR POWER is the Answer...

"Sea Clear" is such a big fat ruse. Does it help power distribution? Probably, but it's also overly complicated with so many connections (voltage drop & failure risks). There is nothing special in it (except the rip-off price) that a competent rigger can't do. Clearing up an image just means following the spec for power - use ample gauge wire and wiring practices. Do that and you have a solution at a faction of the cost. (Note this is from an electrical engineer, not a yahoo.)

Yep I think the 8ga wire with fuse panels at both the console and at the bow then short runs to each unit with 12 gauge will work fine and cost about a third of that harness.

You said it. Sell snake oil and "all the pros use it". Grab 5 benjamins and set them on fire, for as much value as this scam will net you. Do people not realize modern electronics run off 3.3v and 5v internally? They run regulators that provide a *regulated* constant power supply from a higher source. Yes, your big screen and livescope run of way lower voltage internally than your battery. A battery that drains from 12.5 to 11v by the end of the day has no impact on the electronics and "mah megaskewl" looks just as good at 5pm as it did at 7am. That's not to say voltage drop isn't a problem -- don't run 5 graphs on 20 awg wire (duh).

I just looked at the specs on my Lowrance elite TI2. Voltage requirement is 10-17V. I think even with engine start you maintain 11 V. Agree total BS. My guess is the device will drop out at 10 V. If it comes on it’s going to work and damn sure ain’t going to read more clearly at the higher voltages!
