I first started watching Mike Maloney about 10 years ago. With the hidden secrets of money series. I sent that video to so many people. To this day, those people still follow Mike like I do. NYS charges sales tax on gold bullion. Dealers charge sales tax up to $1000. Ebay charges it on almost all transactions depending on the seller's sales volume. On ebay smaller sellers from certain states may not charge sales tax.

The average person can’t even afford a one ounce gold coin and if they can they are not going to pay for storage overseas. Mike has millions in gold and silver and of course he needs to vault his PM’s. The average person will never need this service as most people are not millionaires.

Not having counterparty risk is one of the big reasons to have gold and silver. Putting them under the physical control of someone else adds counterparty risk. The government will put legal pressure on your counterparty and they will offer up your property without fail. They will say that they were just following the law. Same as it ever was.

Non-discretionary spending is way up, but that's due to price inflation, not consumer exuberance/demand. In my case I'm buying less food and using less energy and water, but that's still costing more than before, and my rent has really gone up.

I'm in UK, so it's different here. A lot of the increase is because of interest rates on landlords mortgages going up and they're facing cost of living increases too. But in the UK the main reason is we have had a huge surge in immigration and it's causing a housing crisis and desperate renters trying to avoid homelessness. The migrants are coming here far faster than new houses and flats can be built.@@ronaldmiller3619

what is a sales tax, is that the same as a vat? in my country we have vat on most things, but not on gold, specifically not gold bullion. We also don't have a capital gains tax, so gold is pure profit if it goes up (as long as it is in physical bullion)

I studied tax law a few years ago. our income tax was introduced in the tax law of 1905, but the all important §5 states that income does not include "capital gains" Now the government have made certain specific things subject to a tax anyway, but the general rule (lex generalis) is that capital gains are not a taxable event. this is especially important for "løsøre" (meaning physical moveable stuff)

Costco limiting to 2oz and they are all out in 2 hours says that average people are worried about the currency. If Walmart and Costco continues to sell gold - that is more demand. Maybe people just want a few ounces for peace of mind. When currencies collapse gems paintings gold silver platinum will get you the same amount of stuff in the new currency.

Happiness index calc makes perfect sense. When unemployment and interest rates low, number big, people happy...and vice versa.

The highest probability is that metal prices go "vertically" down in a severe crash before they later go up. That up will only last a couple of years before prices revert to the mean. Factor in the negative dividend (secure storage), and this is a wash. Same old story, over and over again.

I teach personal finance in Philadelphia and I bought 20 silver 1 oz coins for about 500 bucks. So, the corporations are not taking a big bite as of yet, they're just testing it out. I plan on taking one coin and doing a contest at school to give it away. Why? Because I want the inner city community to know that our money is being inflated away and it needs to be based on something. I'd love to tell you about it because I think personal finance should be spread across the country and replace math classes right now for 12th grade.

Walmart is not selling gold and silver. Any retailer can list their products on the Walmart marketplace. Walmart handles the financial transaction, takes their sales commission, and the retailer mails the product to the customer. Walmart never even sees any of the metals. The process is similar to Amazon and eBay 3rd party sellers.

@@nickgrace5363Apparently you don't understand the purpose of gold. It's primarily a hedge against currency depreciation and therefore gradually increases in price over time. It's also a hedge against economic and geopolitical catastrophes. Your comment is like saying "My Apple shares outperformed your car insurance policy!!" So I suppose I should never buy car insurance again and instead use that money to buy tech stocks.

Keep looking at the increasing digits on the screen in regards to stocks. They won't be able to buy anything after you convert into the declining fiat dollar. I would suggest buying the financial insurance you need. I'm assuming you buy insurance for everything else.

Well, golds been atropine for awhile . Investors could be investing in Apple and spy , then rotate to buy some gold is my point . Gold didn’t make a 50% gain as the Nasdaq 100 has over 12 months . Now it’s like I can sell Nasdaq and buy some gold . Is a good way to invest in gold coins bars ect

@@nickgrace5363 the stock gains may not even come close to being able to purchase metals in the near future. If you can even find it to purchase when it goes vertical. The bullion dealers etc will not know where the top is and thus won't sell because they won't know what the replacement cost will be.

Here's my advice for you.... Ignore people who predict "Gold is going to XXXXX dollars". It may or may not happen. Don't worry about that. Instead, own some gold (about 10% of your portfolio) and hold it permanently. Gold tends to rise about 10% per year on average over the long term as underlying currencies depreciate. That's the main purpose of gold -- as a hedge against currency depreciation. It's also a hedge against economic and geopolitical catastrophes and serves as portfolio diversification. Its purpose is not to provide spectacular investment returns. Some day, if the financial system implodes and/or we get hyperinflation, then the insurance utility of gold will take over and your purchasing power will be protected and you'll be glad you own some. Let me know if you have any questions.

@goldsilver basically two questions. 1. Why the investdirect pool accounts, when in several locations on your website you mention this is BS and don't buy from places that have pooled storage. Found it on the storage page. "Total control of your whole bars and coins. No fractional nonsense." 2. How can I trust that MY gold in YOUR vault is really mine. If the world goes bad and hyper inflation happens will I be able to sell or take delivery? I fell the gold is safer with me. Yes, I know there are risks. Putting it in a SDB at a bank is the last thing I would do with it.
