A little while back, the boys from Pretty Much It were in Toronto for a few days so we decided to watch some movies and do what we do best...make very bad jokes. The play is called Cyrano de Bergerac, which sounds a lot like Sierra Burgess... which also has the same plot of the love interest falling for one character’s looks but another character’s personality... So I guess that play has 3 movies based on it.

Yep! This and Sierra Burgess are based off of Cyrano de Bergerac, and the nose thing is an actual legit plot point. Except Cyrano is supposed to be like, actually charming and sweet.

I don't know if you've seen this film, but there's a better "kid friendly" adaption to this story. It's a disney channel movie called "Let It Shine". The main guy in the film is a nice guy but he's quite invisible to other people.

Danny Trejo is known for being so kind and grateful for the long and successful career he's had as an actor, that he has pretty much said (paraphrasing) if any film students making a movie for a class project asked him to be in it and he was available, he'd do it. The thing is that this movie is based off a play that was written in the 1890s, and the point of the play is that while he may not look good he has powerful words so he hides behind a handsome man to woo a girl (who is also his cousin but like let's ignore that) so when trying to adapt this you gotta be real careful.

In the original movie he had a big nose because he was a firefighter and could smell out fires, so in the original movie there was a point to the big nose, in this version, there’s literally no point.

I'm usually able to stretch my believability for movies when it comes to 25 or whatever year olds playing teens. I could even pretend that the old-ass looking teens in the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre were teens. But that football dude who is 100% a 45 year old man and not a teen surrounded by people who actually look like teens? No. I can't get over it. As mentioned, this movie is a remake of a movie (Roxanne) that adapted the play Cyrano de Bergerac. In case anyone wondered, The Police's song Roxanne is indeed inspired by Cyrano. Now you will have the song Roxanne stuck in your head for the rest of the video. Also, yes, the huge nose thing is from the original play.

As a French viewer, I realised very late that this is a modern remake of “Cyrano de Bergerac”: the protagonist’s name in the original work is Cyrano, his lover’s name is Roxanne, she rejects him because of his nose and is only way of seducing her is by being good at poetry. Every single thing that happens in #Roxy also happens in the original work written in 1897. Like I could literally detail every scene and explains the original stance at it. I had no clue Northern America knew made films about it hahahah

Ironically, the movie Roxanne IS nose related. But also Roxanne is already a modern retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac. So this is a modern retelling of a modern retelling of a classic play. The classic play is ALSO nose based.

S S Ok, I’m about to give you a semi long answer but... At first (for me) I was trying to figure out what made this guy look like Hawkeye and I realized it was because of his nose. And I am supposing the reason for that is the fact that it’s kind of long, but not a super skinny nose, it’s round in the front and bulges our a little? And the sides or the nostril area also comes out a little. It’s hard to explain. But I think it also has to do with certain angles because some of these kids features along with the nose kind of look similar to Renner. Such as- 12:51, it’s not really the forehead but the cheekbones kind of have his look? Altogether it’s the skinny nose ridge and the bigger nostrils. Sorry about the message-maybe I’ll shorten it later but maybe not?

everything about kurtis in this video reminds me of a little kid who gets to hang out with the older cooler kids he’s always looked up to and they all watch a movie together and the older kids are laughing at his jokes and he’s internally like “omg they like me they like my jokes this is the best day ever” and it’s so cute i love this video so much even years later
