These guys were a combination of good song writing, range and dynamics with a heaping topping of class!

I was so fortunate to see them live in concert in the late 90s! It was beyond amazing! They sang all their greats! Sadly Bobby past not too long after...such a loss! An amazing moment I'll never forget!
@StarrySkies803 жыл бұрын
The ladies still love them, btw. :) I was born a long time after this performance but I'm crushing on 1960s Bobby and Bill. Edited to say: If you haven't watched the live 1965 performance of "Unchained Melody" with Bobby in his pink jacket, you should check it out. He shows off his AMAZING voice to perfection. It's better than the studio recording.

I saw that the night he sang it on TV ~~ Have loved it ever since!!

Besides "You've lost that loving feeling" Bill is at his best in their cover of "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" It's pretty amazing.

Way ahead of their time. They did a great collaboration with all female black group The Blossoms. It’s called the night time is the right time. Blue eyed soul!

I felt like that when I first heard them at about 14.....Still feel the same way today. Bill Medley ...doesn't get any better than him.
@oldschool723 жыл бұрын
Bill Medley is the tall one, he is 6'4" he is 80 years old now and still performing in Vegas. Bobby Hatfield is the falsetto singer. Bobby passed away from a heart attack in Kalamazoo MI in 2003 while doing a tour with Bill.
@fidge543 жыл бұрын
Let's not sugarcoat it. He died of a cocaine overdose

No judgement from me. Just tell the truth
@oldschool723 жыл бұрын
@@fidge54 dont exaggerate it either, medical examiner concluded that cocaine contributed to his already existing advanced coronary disease that already had advanced blockage and caused a fatal heart attack. It wasn't an overdose of cocaine, it contributed to his death from the heart attack.

Bobby was not falsetto,he had a 4 octave vocal range and was considered a countertenor which allowed him to naturally hit the higher registers effortlessly,falsetto is kind of a fake way of pretending you can reach higher registers when you actually can't.

Man, you always able to hit those great notes.

I haven't seen this reaction but it's going on my playlist before I even listen . I was born in 65 and I remember listening to these guys growing up and I was kind of alone in that category because everyone else was tripping over The Bee Gees and other people . This is my some of my favorite music .

Ray Charles had a nuclear impact on every white soul stylist for sure. So did Otis Redding and Smokey Robinson. Jamel aka Jamel just played a video of 16 year old musical genius Steve Winwood in the early sixties. Just listen to the Ray influence! Same with Joe Cocker , Michael Bolton and many more! There’s a video of this with much better audio! I love your singing voice!
