can both fans take a min and just appreciate how great both programs have been. both teams have been final four contenders year in and year out. both programs have had great season and even though this is probably UK state and Louisville will always bother uk fans because yr in and yr out they have to battle to be the best in the state and imo its the best rivalry in college basketball other than unc duke. and the only reason why its not better than that is because its an out of conference game

We bring national attention to the state by competing in football, basketball, baseball, woman's basketball, and even field hockey! Not to mention our nationally renowned academic programs such as our band and choral programs in our School of Music, our Speed School of Engineering (which has surpassed UK's engineering school in quality), etc. UK has basketball, but UofL has everything any educated student in the state could ask for and more! Duke vs UNC has nothing on this rivalry. We have a coach who won a title at UK and is now coaching U of L. What a dimension this adds. K and Williams like each other. Cal and Pitino hate each other and want nothing more than to win this game. We only play 1 time a year which adds so much more intensity to the game. The state shuts down. The fans, players, coaches share utter disdain for one another. Your team loses this game and you feel like someone has died that was close to you. I love it

Big east is tough but, that game matters no matter what you say. UL is a good team but no way they go undefeated in league play, not that good. Bottom lime is both schools good, both cities great places to live, the game is great

It's not much of a rivalry competitively, UK has beaten UofL twice as many times as UofL has beaten UK... too much disparity. UofL has only won 14 times in a rivalry going back to 1913... that is pretty weak. UK got their 14th win against UofL in 1986, UofL didn't get their 14th win against UK until 2009.

UK did not play Louisville for many years for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Because Adolph Rupp would not play ANY of the state schools because they were beneath us. Louisville was no better than Morehead St as a program until Denny Crum finally won it all in '80. And then after Louisville beat UK in the first "Dream Game" in '84, what happened? Louisville had some prominence on the national scene and UK got them on the schedule. Here's the deal like it or not, other teams NEED Kentucky on their schedule, Kentucky don't NEED you on their's (Are you listening Indiana) If IU wants to play UK, they play us on a neutral floor..you know..the way you really know who is better? Is Kentucky supposed to have 3 major home and homes on their schedule while someone like Indiana has 0? Yeah ok. And btw, since UK & UofL started the series back up, UK has DOMINATED.
