Dude that’s hilarious I literally just finished this book 10 minutes ago, such a powerful read and magnificent ending. Great video!

As soon as I saw this on the folio society website, I knew I was going to pick it up. Cormac McCarthy is probably my favorite author. But, I greatly enjoyed your review of the format and detailing of the images.

Heartbreaking. The 'optimism' in this story is a very hard optimism indeed. McCarthy has made brutality his own personal genre. I'd be interested in reading Chabon's afterward. I'm not sure if this is a landscape I could venture into often. I suppose this could be No Country for Old or Young Men. Beautiful edition. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful comment! I loved the book. It hit me in so many ways good and bad but even the bad was almost therapeutic in some dark way. Very hard to summarize what makes this book so special.

@@rarebookreviewer I think you're close to the mark with 'the bad was almost therapeutic'. Is this 'the road' we want to go down? We can't protect our children and eventually death forces us to let go of them. We can only hope they fall into good hands. McCarthy does make you ponder the depths of being human.

There are so many nice Folio books to choose from. There are some books I’d love to see the folio society do. Like the mists of Avalon, and the other five Dune books that Frank Herbert wrote.

I agree! I’m really wanting the next Dune book to come out, though I’m still in the middle of the first one now.

Just ordered A Man On The Moon by Andrew Chaiken from the Folio Society. I hate how they don’t shrink wrap their brand new books anymore; doesn’t feel like you’re receiving a brand new book. Regardless, they are a world class publisher that will always give you your money’s worth. Thanks for your great review of The Road.

I agree... I prefer the shrink wrap but I guess if the books are guaranteed, it doesn’t bother me. I appreciate the comment. It meant a lot to me.

Weird that they did Blood Meridian as standard hardback paper. And The Road in cloth. I really wish that the Folio Society did everything in *at least* cloth and ideally leather. The interior is always so premium, while the covers are ... not so much. Glad to see this is in cloth at least. I'll probably pick it up eventually.

I had decided to pass on THE ROAD but your review is giving me second thoughts. What I do in these situations is survey all other hardcovers available and compare them to the Folio.

I understand man! Do what’s best for you but this is one of my favorites from them...especially considering the price. The illustrations are right up my alley too. Heck, if you find another cool edition let me know!
