Every work of art is signed by its creator, and at CE Performance Crate Engines, that signature expresses high attention to detail. Every CE Performance Crate Engine receives the signature of its creator, Steven Shumey, and that unique signature, crowning the sum of many parts, methodically assembled-a fully dressed and clean-lined spark plug wire kit. This generous and meticulous process takes about an hour, and once complete, compliments each crate engine. Join Steven as he puts his signature on this unique 329 SBC build, with its 4/7 swap firing order, and dresses this small cube'd (4.185" bore x 3.00" stroke) but large personality (512 HP, 435 LBS FT) engine.

There you guys go again. First you build an OLD SCHOOL small block with crazy dimensions, based on obsolete technology, with crazy practical power....then you try to cover up the embarrassing fact that this OLD SCHOOL TECH (laugh) doesn't have coil on plug technology, by making the spark plug wires custom and very neat. Why do you try to torture the LS fan base with such blasphemy. Next you will be installing an 8-track player, loaded up with KC- and the Sunshine Band. Somewhere down the line you know you MUST fall in line with popular trends. This clean sheet of paper Maverick attitude went out with the Rockford Files. Oh, and don't get me started on changing the firing order.....just who in the Colombo, do you think you are, McGIVER? But first I need that tool and those wires.

I’d be happy to lend ‘em to ya! They are the best. They are MSD and I got em at Mopac!

@@ceperformance I have been a stickler for proper routing of plug wires since I first saw my Vortec 350 distributor that doesn't cross back and forth. If I can find a non cross cap for an HEI, that would be golden. It does make a difference, that stronger the ignition the more important it is. With that tool, I could be a contender, or a KZfaq influencer. Mcgeiver would be proud.

Why the HEI distributor, and why not a Mallory, or MSD setup in disguise? My curious nature poking it's head out, and asking the builder why that choice, is it because it might be period correct perhaps. The car the little beastly mouse went into if known doesn't come to mind. So I'm guessing that scenario is the reason for that particular choice to use. Are have they improved them that much, because I always rated them one notch above duraspark fomoco was infamous for. I believe was released a year before HEI was by GM. Unfortunately I am that old, and that I remember how big a PIA those both were. Duraspark just quit on you without warning, and HEI was bad about fouling plugs in very few miles after tune ups if memory serves me right. Sorry it's been a life long curse I've dealt with since birth I'm afraid. LOL, so see it's not just you that I torture with my never ending random babbling about nothing of importance. Honestly I torture myself more than anyone else, because I am stuck with me 24/7. Scary thought isn't it, trust me I already know!

Hey, thanks for commenting! When we dyno’d this engine, we ran it both on HEI and then an MSD system the second day. The difference was marginal and so we figured why not keep it simple. It’s actually an MSD made HEI so maybe it’s better than a 30 year old stock GM distributor :) Either way ya don’t know if ya don’t try right?! The car is a 1966 Beaumont (made here in Canada!) 2 door post. Really nice survivor of a car.

Hei is a far better distributor then people believe they provide very strong spark and can spin up plenty high. Higher then most capable of building.
