THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

Alien force s1 and 2 proved that you can write good episodes while having Ben get the alien he wants. If the show wanted Ben to stick with a wrong transformation, they should of had a rule where he has to wait 10 mins before he can transform to another alien, then there is an excuse why he can’t immediately change.

In Alien force s1 and 2 Ben had a clear goal infront of his eyes so the Omnitrix was just a method he needed to stop the highbreed invasion. It wasn't about how cool the transformations are per se, it was how efficient Ben is with a clear set of 10 aliens.

Ben pressing the Omnitrix several times just to get the right alien is the equivalent of clicking on & off the same KZfaq video several times just to bypass the ads that you have to watch before the actual video starts even if they’re only 15 seconds long.

@@axelnilsson5124idk I'd say pre blossomed does fit too. The proportions are tweaked a bit and there's extra detail. I also really like his face. He fits and it's my favorite Swampfire design overall.

I think the reason why Ben just doesn't do this constantly is because of how adaptive he is. He may not have gotten the alien he originally selected, but if Ben is confident he can make his current alien work then he won't bother changing. He wouldn't want to risk shortening the timer or getting something even worse (which happened twice in this very scene) so he only switches if he knows for an absolute fact that current alien won't work. (Walkatrout is the exception since Ben's stubby little fins are too short to reach the dial so he couldn't switch even if he wanted to.)

i like this explanation of walkatrout not reaching the dial, and already agree with hes not gonna be constantly randomly switching unless the situation is dire, he just be ready to fight at a moments notice.

I feel this was a problem since AF season 3, if you're gonna have him mistransform get rid of the quickchange, because mistransforming should be a non issue. There are episodes where he mistransforms, fights as the alien for a while, then quickchanges to another alien. I'm like why didn't you change right after becoming the alien you didn't want

I always thought there were different reasons 1. It wastes energy to try again 2. If he did transform again he might get something worse 3. In a fight someone could attack him while transforming But yeah I do agree he could transform more often

Thing is, we see in this episode bens clearly not concerned with wasting energy as he tried four separate times. In certain situations, its actually quite clear that literally any other alien would be more helpful, such as the scene with walkatrout and the worst.

1. The prototrix and the deviant device had less energy and longer cooldowns. His reserves with the 1.0 omnitrix are alot greater now to where he has alot more energy that he can just waste half hazardly. And if he enters cooldown, the cooldown period is so short now that he can afford it even in that worse case senario. 2. Yup, which, when combined with point 1 makes it double risk for 1 reward. 3. No, the omnitrix has a failsafe when not in base form. But they can attack him if he is in cooldown, which can happen in point 1.

I feel like if they REALLY wanted to keep the re-transformation thing, they could have given it the drawback of Ben timing out quicker and quicker with each time he re-transforms. That could explain why he doesn't do it all the time, since more situations would benefit from him being in Alien form for longer, regardless of if it's the "right" one for the situation. It would make re-transforming more of a "last-ditch effort" type of thing instead of just being a "free reroll."

I think they DID establish that at some point, but it’s still a shit excuse. Like, this very video shows a clip of Walkatrout trying to bust out of a room. Switch to a bigger alien, break the door, turn human to let the watch recharge for a couple minutes, no big deal. Hell, with how impulsive Ben is, it doesn’t even make sense for him to hold back on that.

This is actually a canon explanation for why he doesn't re-transform whenever he gets the wrong alien. It's just a shame that the writers don't always remember its existence.

Yeah, I definitely remember it coming up in UA (when Ben "smacking the watch again" to get the correct alien started being more prominent) that it drained the battery more to do so, doubly so with Going Ultimate afterward. The episode with the tidally-locked freezeflame planet (where he ends the episode with a half-sunburn) made a big point about "Why did you Go Ultimate? Now you have even less battery left!" It's only with Master Control that Ben used to do rapid quick-swapping without worrying about the battery timer, and I think they should have kept it that way...

2 things I want to say : 1 - I was at first a bit disappointed that this episode didn’t get a full review , mainly because I thought I wouldn’t hear Kuro say ‘ My boy’ when Swampfire appeared. But it is great that at the end he said it . 2- I think the reason Ben doesn’t transform into another alien after mistransforming is because he thinks he can still do it or at least tries to handle the situation as that alien .

The best part of this episode was Ben just being 110% done from second one. His hydrogen rant is so dang funny, and Yuri Lowenthal's "Oh for the love of God what now!?" Delivery throughout the whole thing just kills me.

I feel bad about how they treated ov swampfire. 1 voiceless 30 sec cameo in ep 8 The 1 other scene 3 seasons later where he talks to charmcaster Then he turns into something interesting but worse looking over the course of that very episode. Then 1 last appearance 2 seasons later where he gets clowned on by Kevin for a minute. Shouldve had more, but then again. Stinkfly, nanomech, amphibian, Benwolf, gutrot, atomix, toepick, jet ray, chamalien, fast track and many others im too lazy to mention shouldve too. Sadly that's the bad part about more and more aliens

I always assumed that, since retransforming canonically lowers the battery life, Ben only chose to quickly cycle through aliens here because all he thought he had to do at the time was save the train, and that didn't take him more than 30 seconds.

I think the point of the scene was to showcase that even if Ben tried to transform into another alien, its not guarantee to work either, he literally turned to Juryrrig, to Gray Matter and even Nanomech before he could get an alien more suited for the situation and even then it was an alien that he didn't want originally. If anything, I think the writers intended for this to be the explication, not a contradiction.

I think every time Ben changes transformations it drains the power or decreases to remaining time limit. Azmuth also said in AF after the first interaction with Albeto he said constantly switching would “break” the watch.

I don't think Pax acting like a normal person is THAT big of a deal. In fact, I think it fixes a certain plot hole: if most Flouranas are supposed to be downright feral, why doesn't Ben ever act more animalistic as Wildvine?

I always chalked it up to consuming energy. I can sort of excuse this scene since all the mistransformations were perhaps bad enough that he couldn't do anything with them and was left with no other choice but dealing with the excessive energy consumption.

I've sometimes imagined how much more OP Been would be if he could rapid-switch between different aliens in a fight, combining their powers. Like, imagine running full-sprint at someone with XLR8, then changing to Four-Arms and letting the momentum carry that double-fisted punch (kind of like what Mutant Kevin learned to in classic.) I always assumed the reason why this wouldn't be viable is because rapid-changing would deplete the Omntitrix's energy reserves a lot faster... But then this scene comes along and reveals that Ben can change 3-4 times in quick succession seemingly without consequence. So yeah, not only does it ruin the point of mistransforming, it also means that there's no reason Ben can't utilize more than one alien in a fight.

I liked this gimmick because it came down to how resourceful and intelligent Ben as a person has to be with a standard set of abilities. In Alien force season 1 and 2 he was wise enough to chose the right alien for the right situation and it added to his maturity.

same opinion, Master Control felt more rewarding bcz of the same thing as now Ben can get the Alien he wants, then Alien Force introduced this wannabe Master Control called Quick Change which just removed all the tension from the fights and probably why Master Control didn't felt as rewarding in AF as it did in Classic

Before this I always assumed that whatever glitch causes the mistransformation also screws with the watches other functions, also that rapid switches drained the battery. If they had Ben try and fail to switch after getting a wrong alien or at the very least have him immediately time out after the switching gag was over that would have saved it and kept the same effect.

I feel like the best way for Omniverse to handle the gag would've been to have Ben mistransform because he can't read the icons on the Omnitrix. With how small the heads of the aliens are on the dial, it would be understandable for Ben to have a hard time telling which alien he's picking. Then, as the show goes along and he gets more used to his new Omnitrix, he'd eventually stop mistransforming as much as he did when he first got it.

I have a head-canon explanation for why Ben mistransforms i Omniverse, despite having an Omnitrix that supposedly never mistransforms: It's the touch screen. I think Ben accidentally touches the touch screen when he slams down the core. Ben normally slides his fingers on the touch screen to scroll through the holographic wheel and select his alien. And then where does the touch screen go? It moves to the side of his watch, next to the core. Then, when Ben slaps his hand down on the core, his fingers end up rubbing against the touch screen in the proces. This could effectively move his cursor from the alien he wants to one of its neighbors, and that would explain why he has such a high rate of mistransformation. It's user error.

True. I mean sure clockwork is bad at running but what if he gets NRG, and then grey matter, then the fish one. Also clockwork has temporal powers? Shouldn't he be able to move faster?? Ben didn't think hard enough!

@@truegamer_007Clockwork is a perfect example of Ben's "Attack Attack Attack" mentality ruins the performance of some of his aliens. As I AM pretty sure every other person that Transformed into Clockwork (except Gwen in Inspector 13) had used that alien Better than Ben himself

I remember UA had a line that said that if Ben were to quick change with the Ultimatrix, it’d drain the battery faster. I think Vilgax Attacks had a similar thing in it as well. I’m mentioning this as it’s probably the reason up until now that Ben would quick change at least once

I always assumed that in this instance it was an emergency and he _really_ needed the right alien where as usually he either doesn't have time to try again or thinks he can handle it with his current result. I mean, how would Juryrig, Greymatter, or Nanomech save a train? Juryrig maybe could've done a quick fix to the bridge, but that's my best thought.

I always assumed the reasons why Ben doesn't just try again when his mistransforms is because he can still get the wrong alien, and because it drains the battery faster. Ben was openly worried about how much time he had left when he used the Omnitrix on that half-ice, half-fire planet, because his space suit wouldn't come back. Then there was the time where he was trapped in the Ultimatrix, where-in he tried making quick transformations to drain the battery faster. And I remember Azmuth saying that too many quick transformations breaks the Omnitrix (he said something to this effect in the Albedo introduction episode), though that was only harped on in the Vilgax Attacks game to explain why Ben loses most of his aliens after the first world. I think they really needed to put more emphasis on how much battery the alien-to-alien transform drains. They should've made it far more dire for Ben to just jump from one alien form to the next like that, so that he's more encouraged to work with what he gets. I suppose there's some agency with it too (e.g., if someone's in immediate danger he can't just risk cycling through 3+ more unhelpful aliens), but I don't recall that being enforced much in the show. I really think they should've brought back the low-power indicator from the original series too, especially since the Ultimatrix was shown to have one in the video games episode.

I always liked the idea that Every swap actually takes away from the omnitrix’s timer, so that’s why Ben doesn’t change that much, so he has more time just in case he needs it in a fight.

This is why I consider the fanfiction "Ben 10: Unlimited" more canon than Omniverse. In that fanfiction, Ben only gets the wrong alien because of a stated glitch, it barely ever happens, he still shows capabilities with the wrong alien, and when the alien is useless in that situation, he turns into the right alien as soon as possible. Also, he gets Master Control later, so it stops being an issue.

@LucyWest370 Exactly, Ben, having trouble with the Omnitirix, every single episode of every series doesn't help to convince how powerful it is. There were different reasons for the mistransformations each time, but it doesn't make it a different thing. It's like the Omnitrix never worked and never will. By Omnitrix I feel like we all agree Ben has had enough of a learning curve, the new Omnitrix should've just been optimised (wait.. why DOES the mistransformation happen within the new permanent Omnitrix again? I forgot by now..).

My guess is that each transformation reduces the time limit/energy of the omnitrix even further. And that's why Ben tends to not change alien when he misstransforms. Also, most of the time the incorrect alien that Ben gets tends to work for the tasks in hand. However the three small aliens that Ben got (before turning into something decent enough to stop a giant monster) weren't good enough for the fight so that would explain why he decided to change alien three times in this specific battle.

I'd argue this scene shows exactly why Ben DOESN'T switch. He had to go through several aliens to get something remotely useful. The more aliens Ben gets, the more it becomes a problem. Like, what are the odds that the alien he wants will be the next one in the sequence? Plus I think in Omniverse it's still a factor that the more he switches the less time he has.

Ben is a very adaptive person, the gag was done using his smallest and smartest (also tech-reliant) aliens as a giant monster isn't the time for any of them. Upgrade and Brainstorm could maybe have done it despite being tech-reliant and hyper intelligent(also electokinesis/electromagnesis) respectively and because of that they weren't part of this. They could have done a bit more with Hokestar, he knew exactly what he was doing, how to properly handle the screegit, and was even able to offer Ben some insight on how to utilize Blox in the moment. Hokestar seems like someone who in all his travelling learned a fair amount about most races and species and could have been a valuable resource in the future.

They could have easily fixed that scene by having Ben time out earlier than he expected due to using multiple transformations in succession draining the battery, meaning that while Ben COULD always try again, even at random, it had a downside and it might be riskier than just working with what he has. Personally the "Randomiser function activated" scene is a lot more frustrating for me

I do get why Ben doesn't try and transform when he doesn't get the aliens he wants. I've always assumed that switching between aliens, outside of master control, uses a lot of power. So whilst he'd have maybe a better alien, he might have less time as said alien. Also, I get the feeling there's a mental component to the in alien transformations. Ben needs to focus in order to do it. He could focus when he was just standing there, even though a train was about to crash, but he probably couldn't focus when he's getting chased by a monster or shot at. Just my theory, feel free to not agree.

I feel often times when Ben mistransforms, he has a kinda "fuck it we ballin" attitude, like even if he whines he'll make it work. Tho there are definitely times where getting the wrong alien isn't just mildly annoying but actively detrimental, and is the reason he lost an encounter, so he should be more willing to spin that dial again

Two things I would've changed about the quick-change feature: 1. When directly switching between aliens (without access to master control), it should take away a certain amount of the total time available in the transformed state in exchange. Say Ben turns into an alien for whatever heroing business, he'd have 10 total minutes as that alien, but 2 minutes in, with 8 minutes now left, he realizes a change of form is required and slaps the dial again to turn into another alien. This instantly drops the remaining time from 8 minutes to 5 minutes, adding another element of tension in exchange for an additional form. I'd like to see a scene where Ben keeps trying to get the alien he wants by force via quick-change like in this episode, but ultimately runs out the timer, ends up in recharge mode and is stuck having to help as just himself. This could be a good indicator to not get too greedy while quick-changing. 2. Quick-change should ALWAYS be random. A controlled quick-change feature makes the iconic dial for selection obsolete. Being in human form while selecting an alien should have its own benefit by having access to the selection screen. That way, the Omnitrix can always initially give Ben the alien he actually wants, but it can still give him an unfitting alien for the situation, but only whenever Ben is willing to take that gamble by using the quick-change. Like this, we can have a consistently reliable Omnitrix for whenever Ben uses it in his regular state, while also having the moments of Ben improvising by changing directly between aliens.

1. Mid-transforming makes him change back faster. 2. There's no guarantee that he'll get the right alien anyway even if he did try to change again, so trying to adapt is much better. 3. Ben still doesn't understand the control of the new Omnitrix. 4. There are a few specific Situations where you just need to change, because the alien you got is 100% useless. Like what does Grey Matter gonna do to a moving train? 5. It didn't ruin the og mistransformations though, since that Ben still doesn't know how to quick change. 6. Soem of his enemies wont just let him. 7. Some aliens cant midchange (Like Walkatrout who I'm pretty sure cant even touch the Omnitrix dial) 8. I agree that the mistransformation gag is overused. 9. In this episode, he rapid change because he only need to be alien for a few seconds, and he's only need to stop a little problem. So in this instance, he don't care about the time out.

You had some scenes in Alien Force where he could switch to another alien without even having to touch the Omnitrix, to so many other scenes where he just has to deal with who he has. I think it would’ve been better if they kept the wrong alien mechanic, but stopped having Ben mention it and instead had him just accept and we get to see him visibly improvise in the scene, or being disoriented because he was expecting to adapt to one alien’s anatomy but became a completely different one.

he does improvise, in Galactic Monsters arc he mistransforms into Crashopper while fighting Kthulu (one of the member of Snare-Oh's species) and then he uses the surrounding to his advantage to tie him up instead and defeat him that's why I prefer mistransformation, allows Ben to be more creative

I guess it could be interpreted as Ben being pathologically stubborn, rigid thinking to some extent; he feels he must stick with what the Omnitrix gives him. Like maybe he got conditioned by all the times mistransformations lead to unexpected benefits all the way back since he was just 10 years old; or he doesn't wanna fully admit he's not skilled enough to handle performing as a different alien; or maybe it's simply him getting tunnel vision during battles, focusing on the battle itself and not as much on thinking of alternative strategies. I would have to look back at all the mistransformations that he stuck with versus the ones he gave a retry; but perhaps it could be something that could be explained based on the subtle personality tweaks some species have on him; maybe some hyperfan like Kuro might have the spreadsheet needed to evaluate this hypothesis...

In classic, he couldn't change again and was locked in for a random duration. Azimuth says something that suggests it would have been more reliable to carefully adjust the dial and press the button instead of slapping it which might randomize the dial or duration settings.

If he hits the watch hard enough it'll choose for him, which is mostly likely what he did when transforming from Jury Rigg to Grey Matter to Nanomech to Bloxxs.

In Omniverse I don't think it's really Mistransformation The Omnitrix is just messing with him at that point after all we established there is an Ai on board the Omnitrix meaning it probably is not happy with him SLAMMING the Interface down all the time, or in cases he's practically being an idiot at times until someone says. "You know you can transform again"

My understanding was that transforming from one alien to the next takes a lot of battery and that’s why Ben doesn’t do it, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to spare the time. However the omnitrix has lost its cooldown time and it’s time limit largely so I don’t really think either is still a huge deal. I don’t know if that’s just the writers ignoring it or the watch actually not doing that anymore but either way they could have gotten away with the joke if they kept the omnitrix more consistent and the rules more well known.

So, devils advocate explanation. Changing alien drains a lot of the battery so using it is unadvised since one more minute with the wrong alien is better odds. In that scene Ben was so fed up that decided to play the odds instead of playing it safe and adapting.

He said it like it was wasting unnecessary energy in doing it or something along those lines. So I would like them to at least be clear with that. Personally I enjoy writing characters (particularly superhero characters) and when you introduce powers or create a power system with limitations you have to keep it consistent as you possibly can because when that character overcomes that obstacle it shouldn't be a problem anymore. But now they're toying with the limitations and doing that is not only going to confuse audiences it's going to be difficult for people to take the character and story seriously. NGL I looked passed the many times ben turns to the wrong alien when he could've turn to an alien by slapping the Omnitrix. When Ben got his new Omnitrix I thought each Omnitrix has the same limitations where he can't just slap the Omnitrix if he gets the wrong alien

Best I can say is that quick changing doesn't always work. He can still do it but like in this episode, Ben could still get the wrong alien and would have to cycle through his aliens until he gets the right alien. Pressing the dial in alien functions the same as in human so slamming it could randomize the alien. Which is why he abandons doing it for the most part. So instead of going through that, he prefers to adapt to the one he originally got. There's also the quicker cooldown (although even after detransforming Ben sometimes can transform again) and the fact it's bad for the omnitrix. But I don't know how to explain how Ben can also switch aliens without even touching the omnitix in OV since he doesn't have master control.

I don't know but i have seen few omniverse episodes where he selects the alien he wants and gets it but he shouts out the wrong alien name and blames the omnitrix for giving a wrong alien. I don't know its dumb or what but he doesn't understand the face design of aliens( on the holographic disc type user interface when selecting aliens) or maybe uses in a hurry bcoz of heat of the moment. Not like alien force where he gets a full hologram of aliens, but now he gets only simple/confusing bcoz he has a lot of aliens and coudn't figure out which one is different face design of aliens.

My personal explanation is that changing aliens without the Master Control uses up a lot of the energy it uses to keep you transformed. And every time he doesn’t use it is because he feels like he needs the extra time. It’s not perfect, (not by a long shot), but it helps stuff like this not bother me while watching an episode.

I don't especially like Pax (especially due to the amount of screen time he gets), but I also don't think his portrayal differing from others of his species is even remotely odd. Individuals have differing personalities. Heck, you can see that with even more improbable species like the Highbreed or the Nanochips. I cannot think of a single species that is portrayed as basically identical to one another. Obviously this is not directly in relation to what you said (just a tangent off it), but more a response to the video.

I don't see why the Breakdowns are being reduced to a five minute wrap-up. I understand that the Ink Tank have other projects, such as 5YL, but I have always preferred quality over quantity. I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer for a real breakdown (which we haven't had for a month, but we can have fanfiction Albedo stories for some reason), but instead ended up getting two five minute videos? I feel that they could just wait a little bit longer and gave us some more quality videos than quantity. Since they're doing a video every two weeks now, they can just do one breakdown a month, and another video for whatever else. That's just my two-bits, and my own personal opinion.

I may have a semi decent explanation as to why ben doesn't utilize the quick change feature more effectively. First off he likely couldn't quick change in os as it seemed to be a recalibrated an onward feature. In Af he did utilize it well in a fight with Darkstar, but afterward said that it "drained the battery" after so many rapid changes. This would probably lead ben to only use it in dire situations and would stay in one form due to his experience improvising in os, believing that gwen or kevin could help out and fix the situation and thus use the transformation later,... or because hes cocky in later af. Most of this carries over into ua with just a general addition of ben being too focused in a battle to think to change. In ov a lot of these characteristics carry over. A noticeable addition though is that ben later on admits that he gets used to the omnitrix not giving the correct alien, and started to believe that it knew better than him. So you could say that over the show he was starting to believe in the omnitrix's decision more and stopped fighting against it with the quick change. Those are my best guesses as to why he wouldn't just quick change again. Admittedly it isn't that good of an excuse but the writers haven't really given a better one.

yea but in that omniverse scene he had to stop a train. which is why he couldnt work with jerry rig or greymatter and neither nanomech, also im pretty sure retrying consumes energy so maybe ben doesnt try more aliens because its gonna make him lose time of being an alien

Aside from the gag, I liked this episode, Hoakstar is a pretty fun character as he's just doing his own thing but Ben finds himself getting involved. Its some fun character dynamics,Pax the Flourana does feel like the writers taking jabs at Hippies. Overall I do like light hearted episodes, I know not many like filler but I think its a nice change of pace to have something not entirely connected to the major arc.

Whilst it's definitely the most egregious example of Ben being able to change aliens after mistransforming, in the end it's only "comedically" exaggerating what has previously been introduced and was never properly resolved. Whilst he'll obviously continue to ignore the ability to transform into something more appropriate, I think the blame really should mostly be directed at AUF for reintroducing this ability in the first place, although Omniverse definitely could (and should) have removed the ability if they really wanted to.

The thing is at the very least in previous episodes when he mistransformed he stuck with it. In this episode he chooses different aliens, making basically every time when he mistransforms in this series basically worthless as he could be literally anything else

@@parry3439 this scene in Omniverse isnt criticizing a plothole, its making a new one. An example is the scene with walkatrout and the door, if ben literally just tried again he would have a 1 in 86 chance of getting an alien that would actually be useful in that situation (the one useless alien being the worst) and have a possibility of opening that door. Every subsequent episode of Omniverse will continue to double down on this plothole with aggressively annoying mistransformations when if they really cared that much they couldve just nixed the quick transformation feature altogether.

I hated this gag after classic. I feel like older Ben in UAF wasn’t terrible with it but would wait til a huge moment. Omniverse just does it way too much and he’s supposed so have the completed omnitrix, so it shouldn’t do that, then we find out it’s because the way Ben is hitting the button. Then he never fixed doing it and still mistranforms

I may be making this up, but I feel like I remember hearing that when Ben does a transformation redo, his time is cut in half. Granted, the time is randomized in Omniverse because he keeps whacking the Omnitrix, but he didn't know that at that point, so him continuously retransforming was kind of a heat-of-the-moment thing, even though it would have taken his time from 20 minutes to 2 minutes 30 seconds

I mean this happened in Season 3 of AF too It's just a waste of energy for something it might not even work, each time he quick changes he wastes energy (as shown in season 2 of Alien Force) so at that point it's better to make do with what you have rather than just try again until you get a wrong alien.

I just realized you could take the transformation stuff as a secret joke ONTOP of the joke: As stated by many comments Jury Rigg can fix the bridge but Ben doesn't understand that instead just wanting something that can obviously help instead of something needs more thinking. So the Omnitrix AI realizing the issue is that Ben is not smart enough to understand why Jury Rigg was the best solution has soooo it gives him his smart alien to make it clear to him Greymatter....the problem is it just makes him more annoyed since he's to focused on getting lame aliens. I feel while they could've used Brainstorm it's clear Brainstorm's intelligence is better for combat situations as the series shows later and Greymatter is more of Ben's problem solving alien for general problems. Then going into Nanomech I just assumed the AI was trying to be funny since Ben couldn't understand the solutions it gave it before. I feel even if its not a real character the AI could be moody and potentially punk Ben especially if it actually comes up with a solution and Ben just shoots it down in a really rude manor. Imo I enjoy this interpretation of the scene since in a way it adds reason why he'd get his 3 smallest aliens out of nowhere.
