@@Irynash11 like I said before the GM/Lianfang are two peas in a very dark pod. The reason she shields Lianfang from punishment is because they're so much alike. They both have the same messed up belief system about birth status. They both harmed innocent children to fit their own agendas. They both tried to manipulate Lingyi into accepting Lianfang despite all the harm she's done to the family. Her last ditch effort to force a relationship between Lingyi/Lianfang backfired because her favorite concubine is incompetent. If Lingy/Yizhen hadn't insisted that Lianfang be removed from her duties to manage the household the GM would've brushed it off/kept her in charge. She's quick to talk about the family rules/how it governs the house but she's the one that continues to break the rules in order to protect Lianfang. I love how Yizhen reminded the old hag that Shiyi didn't seek revenge when Lianfang created another crisis within the family but she instead stepped up/saved the entire family from ruin. The GM still refused to acknowledge Shiyi's contribution. It reminds me when they were dealing with the aftermath of what happened to Zhun/the GM told Lingyi that Lianfang also helped. She just can't see passed her own biases...and see her true colors. Lingyi has his hands full dealing with his mother. She's incapable of putting the Xu family before Lianfang. The servants didn't respect Lianfang. They only tolerated her because she was managing the household. The only one that blindly followed her every command was the seamstress. She was willing to belittle Shiyi because it's what Lianfang wanted her to do. In the end Lingyi stepped in/put Lianfang in her place. The servants also knew that Lianfang had the GM's favor. They wouldn't go against her for fear of the GM's retaliation. She had already demonstrated that she would do whatever it took to protect Lianfang when she sold the two maids after she overheard them talking about Lianfang. She spent so much time/effort protecting the one person that nearly destroyed the family. Her actions shows that she doesn't deserve to be the family's matriarch. She's incompetent. Yes, Lingyi wanted to make sure that Shiyi understood his visit to Qin. He didn't want her to misunderstand anything. Unfortunately he made the whole situation awkward....lol You can tell that he was shocked to see Shiyi there...and when Qin asked if he wanted to stay for dinner...you can see on his face how uncomfortable he was with that question. When he told Shiyi to stay...he wanted to make sure that she didn't get the wrong idea. He knew that Shiyi was trying to exit gracefully in order to give them time alone but he wasn't having it. He insisted on walking her back. There was no way that he was going to let her leave him behind. Qin knew from the way he treated Shiyi was different especially when he put the food on her plate. If she wasn't aware before...she certainly knows now that Lingyi cares deeply for Shiyi/the rest of them don't stand a chance.

@@shontelagrone8713 The GM maid is similar in her behavior to the nanny and maid Lianfang. True, I think, unlike those, she is not so blind. She tries so hard to support her mistress in preconceived notions. Lingyi and Yizhen explained to the GM that Shiyi pulled them back from the edge of the abyss where Lianfang pushed them with her irresponsibility, but Lianfang is still the best, and Shiyi can make mistakes. Nightmare, horrendous. Poor Lingyi does not know how to court a woman. He never did this. He doesn't want to offend the concubine he paid a visit to and doesn't want to give a false impression to Shea of the visit. It's like a «crocodile's» dilemma. He succeeded in embarrassing all three. The dinner shows that no one knows anything about Shiyi's tastes. Giving her very spicy food, they made the situation worse. Shiyi "poor thing" tries to find a way out of the situation without offending anyone. By the way, Shiyi's visit to the concubine is very revealing. Formally, she is her maid, and the fact that she pays such a visit shows how respectful she is towards them (unless, of course, they are trying to harm her and those whom she patronizes). Madam Luo, Yuanyang would be shocked by her behavior. I think the GM would rather have Shiyi visit Lianfang on such a courtesy call than Qin.

@@Irynash11 it has to be hard being a servant to the GM/Lianfang. They don't like to hear the truth. It's like walking on eggshells dealing with these two...They're so afraid of offending them...that they openly lie to them. I think the GM's maid is a little different. She chooses her words carefully whenever she has to tell the GM the truth about her behavior. Unfortunately the GM/Lianfang make it impossible to be completely honest with them. The GM is in denial when it comes to Lianfang. Lingyi/Yizhen knew very well how Shiyi save the entire family as the result of Lianfang's actions but she still refuses to admit the truth. I've said it many times before the GM is the biggest liability to the Xu family. She's a horrible matriarch. Yes, he isn't very skilled at courting a woman especially one like Shiyi. She isn't going to fawn all over him. She isn't going to scheme to gain his favor. He was put in an uncomfortable situation when Qin invited him to dinner/he made things awkward. He worked hard to keep her from getting the wrong impression but in doing so he made the situation very uncomfortable for everyone involved. Qin started acting like a maid again...until Shiyi made her sit down...lol Lingyi was oblivious to what was happening until Shiyi stepped in/made her sit down to eat with them. She's the one that invited him to stay/she ended up acting like a servant. I felt bad for her. When Shiyi noticed how uncomfortable Qin was...she tried to leave gracefully. Unfortunately Lingyi didn't cooperate...lol Yes, her visiting Qin shows her true character. Madame Luo/Yuanniang would have a fit if they knew she took out the time to visit her. In Madame Luo's mind concubines are the enemy that she must guard against. She was ruthless with them/she expected Shiyi to do the same. It was one of the instructions she had given Shiyi when she was marrying into the Xu family. Shiyi was different/that's the reason she won Lingyi's heart.

That's freaking awkward to me ~ Shiyi want to leave ASAP to let Madam Qin have a dinner date with Lingyi, but Lingyi want to spend time with Shiyi, he's making Shiyi become 3rd wheel XD
