ugh, if Peter was looking for a beard he should have been honest about it - how cruel to marry Malika without disclosing it, especially in an era where women had fewer rights and freedoms. best case scenario, find a lesbian and have a lavender marriage 🙄 plenty of queer folks did that and also managed not to assault and murder young children. good that the peat bog mummy (it’s surprisingly common) prompted Peter to confess, even if it turned out not to be Malika.

Peter was just a POS. If someone proposes to you hours after meeting, they're no good. And don't call them queer, most of older gays and lesbians still find it offensive and I've never seen it used outside people larping as gay or those trying not to offend.
@saint-miscreant

@@lainiwakura1776 queer is one of those terms that’s still debated among the community, you’re right in that some folks still don’t like the term (which is why i’d use it for myself but not for another individual unless i know they’re comfortable with it - plenty of terms that have been/are slurs are used like that). but queer is an established term in academia, and it’s a useful word to describe both historical figures whose gender/sexuality we don’t know, and it’s a term that describes a wide variety of experiences without being limiting or overly specific. plus, a lot of the push to keep ‘queer’ as solely a slur stems from the transphobic side of radfem, and a lot of us would like to keep things inclusive.

@@elizabethstauffer8573 fr, I've identified as queer (in relation to sexuality/romantic attraction) for years and in the time since then, I've only seen it become even more widely used by the queer community at large (which is what a lot of us prefer to say over "lgbtqia2s+" lol). And most conservatives attacking the queer community rarely use queer to describe us anymore because they know it's no longer being used as a slur -- instead saying shit like "alphabet mafia" or "lgbtlmnop" or just "gay/trans", the latter of which being used because it's the most commonly recognized verbiage for cishet people. At worst, I only heard other queer people using it jokingly as a slur towards our friends/sarcastic self-deprication, and even then, it's still less frequent in that context than just using the f slur or t slur [for those of use who actually are gnc/trans], cuz when taken out of the context of them genuinely being used as slurs, they're just goofy sounding words lol.

When you said peat cutters I knew it wasn’t her. Peat takes about 40 years to grow an inch and several millennia for a bog to form that peat cutters would be able to harvest. Even as an American, I know this. Although my Grandfather did grow up with peat fires in Scotland, still you would presume an Englishman with a bog “hiding a body” close to his back garden would know such a thing.

I don't even feel bad for her. Sure, he tricked her at first, which initially warranted sympathy, but he did come clean (even if it wasn't exactly his choice to do so). After learning the facts, she weighed all of her options and decided staying with him so she could blackmail him was her best one. She readily accepted his proposal, thinking she could use it to her advantage instead of calling it off and getting as far away from that dude as possible like a reasonable, rational person. She then repeatedly and coercively threatened to expose him if she didn't get what she wanted, which makes her a shitbag too, effectively rendering null and void any prior sympathy she may have earned. I totally agree that he was a piece of shit and am not defending his actions in any way, but she wasn't any better. This was textbook FAFO on both sides. I'm just glad they only destroyed each other's lives and not anyone else around them. Good riddance to both of them.

OK. This is going to be an unpopular view as far as I can tell from other comments but apart from Peter's later behaviour with children, which is despicable, I find it very sad that he felt that he had to be married to a woman in order to keep his career and not go to prison. Malika did have a choice as to who she would marry and chose a charming man with a good income after only a few days of knowing him. I'm not attempting to blame her for what happened but she could have had the marriage annulled if she had felt so cheated and she could also have refrained from threatening to expose her husband and effectively blackmailing him. It seems to me that every one of the main characters in this horrible story were selfish other than the ancient peat mummified woman and any children who were harmed. The lesson I take away from this is that making a person's s**ual preferences a crime is a terrible thing and causes horrific acts to happen

With that in mind, Malika had the opportunity to get out of the fraud marriage very early on and just move on with her life. You don't fucking marry a beard without telling her that she's your beard. That's how this works. If you're a gay guy and you need to marry to hide it, you either find a lesbian and do a lavender marriage, you find an asexual who's content in a sexless marriage, or a woman who's polyamorous or wants an open marriage and doesn't mind if her husband isn't one of her partners. There are women out there who want that, but you have to be HONEST with them to find the right partner and not be a lying piece of shit to a heterosexual monogamous woman.

@@reginagilby1101 You don't owe anyone an apology, you're not a dik for saying 10 mins is too short. ThisIsMonsters brought up another topic and made it seem as if you said something else, he doesn't understand 2 things can be true at the same time. You can have an opinion about this video's length at any moment you want.

No sympathy for her. He didn't trick her into marriage. She agreed to it after only knowing him for a few days.

This was an amazing story. The fact that some people prioritize their reputation and lifestyle over an actual human life is insane to me. What is funny is that I am gay and was going to marry this one lady to stop the attacks on me and to give her medical insurance so then she can get obesity surgery [lap band or something like that) It's funny how we both wanted to marry someone we weren't in love with but with completely opposite motives. We never got married and now Im so glad. It's420 ig2g 🤘🤩.
