Never stop doing this, man. Just amazing being able to keep up. Been living in Germany since '93. And as an 80's kid... I grew up actually reading and knowing what the phoenix saga was all about... knowing why and where Wolverine got his Adamantium ripped out... And then came a stand still. Comics were not easy to get here. And I missed decades of storys. Now I can catch up and enjoy the storys again. So, a true and sincere thank you Rob. Don't stop✌

what if it's more meta than that? what if he's developed reality perception? Basically he knows he's in a comic. when he first kills he's not telling the other heroes "you're ruining me" he's literally telling the audience,writer,editors that they just ruined his character. He kills indiscriminately because he knows these are fictional characters and technically so is he. Think breaking the Fourth wall but with a 3rd person perspective.

Ok Rob. Since I have these graphic novels I will explain what you missed. After being imprisoned in a red star he recreated the suit to charge his power back up. When he said he was waiting on the yellow sun at this time he wasnt full power yet. The power suit is only there to charge him up until he can be his true self.

Mark Waid on Bart Allen This week's LITG has posted a bit from an interview Waid gave for "The Flash Companion." In this portion of the interview Waid talks about Bart Allen and the decision DC made to turn him into Kid Flash, turn him into the Flash and kill him. WELLS: Eventually, Impulse gave way to Kid Flash and Kid Flash, in turn, morphed into an adult Flash. Do you think those changes necessarily served Bart Allen well? WAID: Nah. Listen, Geoff Johns and I made our peace about this. I love Geoff. Geoff's one of my best friends, and Geoff is an incredibly talented writer and is the only writer alive who loves these characters as much as I do. And I don't blame him for paving over the Impulse identity. The shoehorning of Impulse into Kid Flash was, as I understand it, not his idea. It was a wrongheaded edict passed down by an editor that never got the character and has made it his mission to purge DC of anything even remotely fun and lighthearted. But even as Kid Flash, he was still largely recognizable as Bart. And then he became the Flash, and a more boneheaded move you couldn't have made with that character. Geoff and I fought against it, we fought like you wouldn't believe. Steve Wacker, who was slated to be the original editor, Geoff, me...we all fought the good fight, knowing beyond any shadow of a doubt that squeezing Bart into that costume would go against absolutely everything about that character. And we lost. We lost every step of the way. Ultimately, someone else's ego outweighed my opinion about what Bart would and wouldn't do, but that's how it often goes with corporate-owned heroes and is the price you pay dealing in them. Ask Keith Giffen sometime how many lectures he's had to endure about what Lobo "would and wouldn't do." So, in their infinite wisdom, DC Editorial made Bart The Flash, and that relaunch was one of the greatest critical failures in all of DC publishing history. WELLS: Really? WAID: In terms of sales they had on the first issue and the sales they posted by the fifth or sixth issues, it was just a crashing, crashing disaster. It was one of the most disastrous, embarrassing launches in DC history. And we were all " I'm not trying to sound all "I told you so," because it broke our hearts because we loved that character " but we warned them. We told them, "Don't do that, it won't work." Sure enough, six issues in, they realized they had a mess of a series they couldn't make work, no matter what. At that point, Dan DiDio called me up, a courtesy call, and said, "So we're going to kill Bart. I just thought I should let you know." My honest feeling at that point was like, "Dude, you killed Bart years ago." [mutual laughter] "That's so not Bart in that suit. I don't care. Everything in comics is cyclical. Bart'll be back eventually at some point anyway so, sure, go ahead and put the bullet through his head. I don't care." I figured Bart would be better off dead than misunderstood and mishandled.

I always get asked from non comic book fans about why superman is so special if all of his powers came without he earning them(he was born with them). Then I show them the final battle between earth 2 and earth 1 superman vs superboy prime in infinite crisis, and the speech about what it means to be superman. For me what matter is how you use your powers responsibly, wielding them and not letting them corrupt you (which is easy to do, you know like how money can corrupt people so easily in the real world.), thats something the majority of people cant do without a very strong moral compass, thats why I like superboy prime, he is an example of what would happen giving so much power to someone emotionally unstable, which had deep nostalgia about his world , and anger regarding how fucked up the dc universe was at the time, and eventually became the very thing he despised (he was also very weird and whiny). This makes me appreciate how strong of character superman is, his will and emotional fortitude are something not your average person has.

I was under the impression that the suit was a nerf to prime saying he can't properly store our suns energy so he is weaker at night and the suit is a stop gap.

Bro i just bought sinestro corps war since u started covering it and YES! Super Boy Prime absolutely decimates everyone like its ridiculous. The new ion sadam yat has this inner monologue about how he cant lose like this to super boy prime. Is this how it all ends and its right when you think hes gonna get that boost of will power to stand back up and fight again, he doesnt. He dies and super boy prime has ions dead body by the collar and turns around so says whos next. I was like dang this is nuts.

I really like what you say about the meta-narrative of the piece, and the more I think about it you are right. With the evolution of comics with the Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen, the landscape of comics were changed forever. Gone is the strange air of optimism, and I must admit that there are times when one reads about the Dark Multiverse and its hard not to agree - these aren't heroes, and is this the way that comics will go in the future (the DC who laughs)

Great video. It's interesting to imagine, that despite being the last son of the planet Krypton, Superboy lived his childhood and part of his adolescence as an ordinary person. He didn't have any superpowers, he was an average human. However, during a beach party with his friends, where Clark dressed as the fictional Superboy from the comics, all that changed. Also, when it comes to evil versions of Superman, Superboy Prime takes it all. Perhaps he is the strongest villain in the DC universe and multiverse, since behind him he has hundreds of deaths that makes him a worthy rival to any powerful hero.
