That’s why bands record demos. This was never meant for public consumption but Stephen probably needed another fancy house in the Hollywood Hills.

This song really shows how brilliant Andy’s playing was. His contribution to the Smiths’ sound is immeasurable. Sadly, over the years, I’ve come to realize that Morrissey didn’t deserve such a brilliant band. This is coming from one of the biggest fans of the Smiths (since I was 15, in 1985). RIP Mr. Rourke, a true legend.

Deserve is a strong word to use, they all paired up for a reason. At the end of the day, like most influential bands, it was ego, drugs, fame, something tore them apart.

although Rourke was a good player he was just reading tabs. Johnny Marr wrote most of the basslines

You've realized nothing but your own dull opinion. The Smiths are a one a million band because of how well all the disparate parts work to form such an exceptional, cohesive, and unique whole.
