This week on The Spotlight, a mystery man is stabbed on the bus and now detectives are trying to find him to bring charges against his attacker.
Also, home surveillance cameras capture the face of a man who tormented Snohomish County - why did he bring a butcher knife on his rampage?
And the debate over police body cameras: why one of the largest agencies in our state doesn’t have them yet.

I hope this stupid bus driver gets fired. "You're holding up the process when a man is bleeding to death of hte bus? Why didn't the bus driver call 911? Seattle, what have you got to say for yourself? I got stuck in Seattle going to Harborview because you guys rerouting the buses that were supposed to go up James st. But the signs weren't clear and required me to walk several blocks in several directions to catch the rerouted bus. I tried to get a Yellow cab and that was a frighttening experience too. The driver actually yelled at me over the phone in a foreign language. I called back and said I didn't want that driver because he frightened me. Then I was told that Yellow cab couldn't pick me up from the corner where the bus stop was, that I had to be at an address. When I finally got an address, I told them where I was standing in front of the building but they kept saying the address across the street. I told them over and over NO, i'M ACCROSS the street from that address. The dispatcher kept asking me if I could see a the Subway. I kept asking what Subway? Then I was asked if I could see the Starbucks. I swear, she could only place my location near some sort of restaurant, but I was actually standing at the corrner of the 500 Block of 5th Ave outside of the King County Adult Detention center and Yellow Cab couldn't locate this building on their map. Only Subway or Starbucks. This was just 2 mths ago. I was freezing and distraught and what should have taken only 10 minutes up James St. Took 3 hours to get a ride. I'm 63 and was freezing and in pain. 3 hours late for my appointment, My physician Dr. Leveque of Harborview Eye Specialists was so kind that she went ahead and saw me for my eye disease anyway.

Several weeks after this story aired, the victim has been identified by people at the Mt. Baker Transit Center. "Eventually, our deputies ended up just wandering around the area speaking to people locally asking if they knew him, eventually we were able to find information, get at least a name. Finally, after a few weeks of just searching and waiting, we were able to finally find the victim and speak to him and it was a successful conversation," said Zoe Birkbeck with the King County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, Elijah Pearson, is in custody undergoing an evaluation at Western State Hospital to determine his competency to stand trial.

That last part of this report. She knows it's a liability for the city to have video of none perfect person such as a police officer . And she also knows that some don't like the idea of it. How ever the level of clarity and justice it can provide in matters of crime and justice ,it's invasion of privacy on the public services of law enforcement only makes them more morale in the duty of investigation and apprehension . It should be live cloud recording in real time for the nine one one and other services and leaders can watch and record . Both for safety and transparent real time lawyer advice to people who are enforcing them. This would make corrupt people find different work,and less dangerous...

Lets not cry about and offer to end ALL OF OUR Constitutional rights (FOR EVERYONE, since someone else's rights ARE YOUR RIGHTS) Just because some multi-national conglomerate THAT HAS MADE RECORD PROFITS FOR OVER A DECADE and most likely does not PAY THEIR FARE SHARE OF US TAXES is having police do the job that their own (underpaid and understaffed) store security is supposed to do.

The bus driver is rude... The people that are against body cams are probably criminals or sympathize with criminals. Cameras protect all parties. So many people out here pull weapons on police resist than claim racism for law suit purposes this shuts that down. If the police violate rights there's video of the indiscretion

What happened to the bus driver's duty of care to the passegers. especially the injured one? In terms of Health & Safety following the stabbing, shouldn't he have pulled the bus over and called the police? He seemed more concerned about faling behind schedule and decies to berate the female passenger, who fearfully got off the bus then back, "slowing down the process"!!

Again, with the temporary paper tags. 4:33. That is obviously not a brand-new vehicle, it should have actual license plates. A sure sign when people are driving around doing dirt.
@Cherokee913
@Cherokee913 2 жыл бұрын
Eh? Or it could be a sure sign of, you know, any person who just bought a used vehicle and wants to abide by the law. When you purchase a new OR used vehicle you will get paper tags to put on them most of the time until the DMV ships your new aluminum plates. Every single vehicle I’ve ever purchased had paper tags, new vehicle or not. In my state, AZ, I can literally print them off at my house, and have, and I’m sure most other states allow you to self print. TLDR: it’s completely normal for paper temp plates to be on a 15 year old car. It’s not normal, however, for a car to have paper temp plates for 15 years. Edit: the plates on that vehicle in the video could be perfectly legal. Cheers

I'm blown away at how casual everyone is on the bus, including the gentleman that was sitting near the victim, with the blue jacket, and the bus driver needs to be terminated. He should have immediately notified metro police, and made an attempt to get the victim to safety, after the perp fled. And that poor lady with the walker moved so fast, she nearly left the walker. So much anger, and evil.

To get felony charges to stick they need to talk to the victim????? Really, so what happens when someone is murdered and it is all on video taped? The murdered cannot speak, in theory the prosecutors speak for them. So, why can't they speak for the stabbing victim since his stabbing is all on tape.

Whatcom county wta bus system has had multiple stabbing problems also. I was involved as a victim of this, I was being threatened, on my property then at bus stops. It continued on the buses. This man stalked me daily. He was able to persuade my ex husband who is part owner of our land in maplefalls to rent a trailer next to me. he allowed this man who was very dangerous to live in a travel trailer on our property. Even though he had made many threats and attacks from, law enforcement did not arrest him. We were under COVID 19 law which kept him on the street and on my property. He had supposedly attacked his own mother and also kicked another woman's teeth out while beating her. He was said to have been in prison for this. I was threatened daily. This man called himself " ray vinn". I don't think it is his legal name. On June 1st 2021 I entered the bus with a whatcom superior court restraining order on him. This restraint had continually been ignored by wta and wta drivers allowed this man to threaten and torture passengers. On June 1st he was removed from the bus by Bellingham police officers but not arrested. He was threatening another passenger who was protecting me from his taunts. I had to call 911. The driver did not! The man protecting was stabbed or cut. He ran before police arrived. The passengers had to call this in! We waited for the police, they removed ray vinn from the bus. He walked away. He on multiple occasions had attempted to harm me by charging at me with a knife and a hatchet. That day June 1st the driver was replaced by a Hispanic/Hawaiian woman who took over the route. Several stops later this driver literally ejected me out of my seat, traveling at about 55 mph. I have a fractured pelvis, injury to my lumbar spine. This woman is still driving. The man ray vinn was trespassed off the bus and later in November/October was hit by a truck as he rode his bycicle down the hwy. Mt Baker hwy. He is supposedly deceased now. It is a good example of how our bus system is controlled by organized crime. The drivers are a "mini Mafia" who protect their own. They are dangerous to the public. To anyone who reports them. I am disabled from this accident which the driver is still driving with no accountability. Wta refused to pay for the damages and wstip the ins pool that pays for injury refused to pay. In fact there was a fire on my property during the settlement on this insurance claim to dissuade me from fighting for a fair settlement. My family members were almost burned in this fire! I was forced to sign off in this claim with a very small amount of money. 7890$ for my injuries because of their dangerous behavior. . I am also a bus driver, I have clean DMV record, no dwis accidents etc. I am unable to work now especially at wta I was a prime candidate to take this ladies job! I cannot even step up into a bus now because of her reckless driving. Dangerous behavior. Our buses need to be monitored by the public daily to watch for these dangerous people. We have to act as a protective public group for riders who cannot protect themselves. look at this as "block watch" but on our public transportation. We need to protect each other. I don't know what happened to the man who protected us. I hope he is ok and safe.i want to thank him for intervening and protecting us. Angela Jeannine Shubert or dream weaver horse rescue on Facebook and Instagram for my posts documenting these crimes

They can turn them off so they can have privacy … but when engaging a person for a stop or for any reason they MUST have it on .. they could get in-trouble if they don’t .. some idiots can’t follow simple rules .. but that’s why we need to hold Sargents accountable as well
