And legal marijuana dealers who pay billions in taxes are asking why the government put them in a bind and then turned a blind eye: "If we could take credit cards, everything would change overnight."

I had to shoot a 13 year old worthless thug in Detroit last July, 3pm at a gas station with people around, tried robbing me I told him I was getting my wallet but got my gun instead, I shot low to not kill him, a month later he was out of the hospital and still hadn't been to jail he robbed a 89 year old Korean war vet, a black man too! They don't care, he beat the man half to death. Cops said I should have killed him because they don't change, every time they go to jail they learn more about how to get better at robbing

When I went to a weed shop in Colorado, they had an armed guard out front in an armored van. These shops need to lock their doors and buzz in people.

In Massachusetts you can basically just go and buy it but you have to go through the security checkpoint and you can't even see the product. They either have pictures or you basically just look at a list of names of strains

The cannabis stores in my city usually have 2-3 armed guards in the front. They also have another guy behind a bullet proof portable sally port armed with a high powered rifle ready to shoot anyone who manages to still get into the store. The trick is to not be cheap and just hire armed securities.

I'm born and raised in the Bronx and when you go to a liquor store the entire store is behind bullet proof glass. They don't get robbed and open 24hrs.

@@JK-br1mu probably the same as those at a liquor store? Alcohol is a potentially violent, deadly and horrible intoxicant when abused. Domestic/child abuse, organ failure, one of the very few intoxicants that has potential deadly withdrawal symptoms. On the other hand, smoke to much refer and You'll eat to many peanutbutter cups, drink to much mountain dew, fall asleep and lose some of your ambition. I haven't smoked since 2012, but I'd rather be around a stoner, as opposed to a belligerent babbling drunk! People, who do either one in moderation shouldn't really care. I've known lawyers, police and other folks, who smoked over the yrs and you wouldn't have ever guessed it, if you knew them. I know a retired cop who smoked the last 20 yrs on the force, his wife now trims weed because it's legal where they live. So many other walks of life, who like the effects of herb and they're able to get through life without bs prescription medications (that have horrible sides effects) and do more harm than good more often than not.

And this is why I have a concealed carry, I highly recommend to everyone that is of age and right mental mindset to go get the proper training with a gun instructor and take some time to get comfortable with a fire arm and take the right legal measures as to getting a permit and a firearm, so in a situation where you need to defend yourself or your family you are prepared and have the knowledge and skill to be able to defend yourself and others.

@@foundationalblackamerican1682 many of the higher profiting Dispensaries are already using armed guards in armed vehicles that were trained by the military to transport their money from their shops to banks. If employees are being put in these dangerous situations because of cash only, they should be allowed to be armed too A better resolution that would ultimately reduce violence could be to let these dispensaries except credit cards.

The fact that most these stores dont have armed security absolutely kills me. Clear choice in Tacoma got robbed one time, since they've had armed security they've been robbed 0 times (outside of the random crackhead running off with the tip jar). Armed security would solve the problem and dispensary owners need to get it together and hire some, federal banking laws aren't changing anytime soon card use is a ways off.

The shops where I live have in Baltimore have a locked door you have to be buzzed in, then you have to walk up to a bullet proof window and show your ID before you can get in the shops. Other shops have armed security out front.

@@mom_im_losing_it The NW always had it anyway, it was common and accepted long before it was legal. That doesn't mean we need to throw common sense out the window and not protect the stores. It's a big city. Big cities have crime and attract criminals and therefore need heightened law enforcement.

In Washington state all customers must have their ID scanned....it's the law. How about an ID scan and a High Def full face picture taken BEFORE entry is permitted thru the electrically locked doors ? This is so simple, and could prevent mast of these robberies. I have never heard anybody propose such a simple plan before....They must be stoned.

This is not how they run a business in Nevada, we have armed security outside. You go into a lobby and produce your ID, then you are allowed into the store. One door in, do your shopping and on to the out door lobby. The door to the shop has to be locked before the door outside will open. Safe and secure.

Carry a compact semi auto pistol concealed appendix style and never say anything about it to anyone ever. Train pulling it out quickly and dry firing it before you carry it. Train with it at the range so you will be aware of how it will handle when you fire it. If someone comes in there to rob you, raise your hands and comply. Maybe even show them where the most expensive stuff is. Concentrates, nugs, whatever. The second they take their eyes off you to fill their bags with cash and weed, shoot them right in the fucking head.

Pot is completely legal in Seattle/Wa now. What would change in Washington if the Fed legalizes it? Two things would change if the fed legalized it; 1. Taxes on the product will go UP. and 2. the problem will spread to states that currently do not have legalized marijuana. It is the taxation that is driving this. They will either buy from an illegal dealer or steal it to avoid the higher price of a legal shop with high taxation.

Odd I haven't heard of a pharmacy robbery in a while. Im in Cincinnati now, but this old Harts pharmacy up the street use to get robbed kind of often. They use to always use the surrounding woods, parks and cemeteries to get away, several right in that area and on edge of city limits.

I think if they do it properly, they shouldn't have a problem. Buzz then into a common area with an ID check and copy it before they buzz them into the main store. That shuts it down for the most part. Just like a pawn shop in big cities. Been to Colorado and some are like that, and some they are just open. You're asking for trouble any other way , and you will get an answer. But the taxes were about 25 to 30 percent of the costs, so they should use some of that to keep workers safer. Hell, the police are robbing the armored cars now. WTF? It's all about the Benjamin's and as long as it's a cash business, they'll be getting robbed by somebody. Sad times

Ours in California, you can't just walk in; there are security guards, you have to go into a room, give them your ID, then you sit down and wait for your name to be called. I have yet to walk into a cannabis dispensary in my town that looks like a convenience store.....

The state could implement a pot payment card that you can refill at the grocery store. That way folks wouldn't have to bring cash into the Pot shop either. They do it with the transit system why not the pot industry? I'm guessing they could use the same version of the software they use for the Orca card. The state could charge a small fee for use of the said card and get their cut of the proceeds with every transaction.

No no, they're not after the drug, they're after the blackmarket profits from selling these drugs. There is still a massive black market for cannabis due to many reasons, one of them being high taxes, or badly implemented systems I suppose. I think all drugs should be legalized on a federal level this certainly would be best scenario, and as things level themselves out crimes like this will cease to exist, there will always be crime but the rewards are very high in robberies like this and it is a ripe opportunity for criminals.

If weed was sold in all gas stations like alcohol and tobacco this wouldn't be an issue, hyper competition would drive prices down to very very cheap as a free market should, then not only would we see very cheap weed, we'd also see pretty much nobody would be willing to rob these places.

In az the marijuana dispensaries had guards at the door. All of them. I drove as a delivery driver all over AZ but mostly Scottsdale, phoenix, Tucson, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff etc. I was never robbed or held up and I carried large amounts of cash and product daily. I also carried a firearm. I don't understand why Washington dispensaries are not practicing safety and guarding their employees and business with security at the door and allow personal protection. These thieves would think twice about robbing them. I delivered on the Mexican border and was much safer there than here in Washington?!

Unfortunately the real theft came from inside, the cargo van I drove, a business vehicle was parked and loaded inside a garage attached to the dispensary. There was a problem with product or ?? being stolen and hidden in the delivery van. On several occasions when I stopped to fuel I noticed my marker lights popped out, the end of the rear bumper had a plastic cap. That was also used. This was reported and I was forced out of that job by employees. Literally squeezed out for telling. Or maybe it was a side deal by employees... Selling their own marijuana or narcotics on the side..

Hiring securty, armed security in Arizonas case wont stop any robberies either. our security guards litterally saty us down and told us if we get robbed or if anyone came in with guns they will let the robbers do whatever they want becuase they dont get free weed from the company. ive had many people hit me, throw things at me and threaten to shoot us. getting paid less than 10$ an hour as a bud tender isnt worth it. im going back to pharmacy, the job i spend 25k on in college for 3 years on to make 11.25$ hourly maybe instead of 2 meals a week i get to eat ill be able to have 3 meals a week to eat as long as i really try hard.

Dispensary will charge 40+ dollars for an eighth. Street price was 40dollars for eighth cause you would be commiting a felony. Today no felony charge but cost equal to or more than street price. Pretty much Darwin award level of reaction by this victim but I'm happy he is alive and seemingly OK. Now he can start his rap career with cred from being shot 6 times in a robbery when he was selling drugs. He not only grabbed the gun and struggled but then he called his girlfriend before calling 911 but to be honest I'd probably do the same wounded like that especially if someone else could call 911 I'd want to talk to my loved ones in case I was dying.
